Dec 1, 2009I recently upgraded from vista to Windows 7 and I have noticed that whenever I want to visit a website (this one included) i often have to click the link twice for my browser (firefox) to change pages. The first click sends the request and eventually times out. While the progress bar stalls out at about 50% if I hit the link again it goes right to the page. If I go to speakeasy.net and test my connection, 1 attempt will correctly display my 20mb connection, the next attempt shows 2mb, while further attempts either show any speeds in between or it will just time-out eventually.
My upload speed is always correctly displayed at about 2mb. All other computers on my network have no trouble. I have my network card set for 100mbFD (changed with no effect from auto negotiate. When I try and download files from the Internet (drivers, documents from attachments etc...) my transfer speed slowly and steadily degrades from 1mb/sec to idle. If a file does actually come close to fully downloading, the file ends up corrupted due to data loss, or it cancels completely due to lost connection to server.
My motherboard is asus M2N-SLI Deluxe with current nvidia nforce driver 73.1.4.0. Using the device manager, Windows 7 shows my driver to be up-to-date (which is false because it said the driver it found for the card was current, but it isn't) and nvidia's driver manager also shows my driver to be up-to-date.
Even internal network transfers suffer. Files from my file-server also start out fast and continue to deteriorate to idle.
I'm a pretty novice network person, but I've looked at my router/firewall, device manager, Windows 7 network settings and nothing seems abnormal or unusual.
Like I said, every other computer on my network has 'normal' connectivity and it is just this comp. Any ideas?

May 23, 2011i'm using Windows Steady State for security purpose. when we create new user in steady state the first time it will ask the user log off time .this option is already mark but if we don't need to log off our user in specific timing we need to unmark this option , but i have forgot to unmark this option. and now when i idle for 20-30 min. my system is automatically log off . now i need to change this settings so, what should i do ?

May 23, 2011I just bought a new Hp desktop presario, when I first got it I could watch video from any source online and it would stream no problem. Then a couple of weeks ago things changed, now if I open a tv show from any of the online sources none of the shows will stream as before, they will run maybe up to 5 minutes and then pause. I then have to restart the video stream. I have tried both IE and Mozilla, I get the same result, I have updated FlashPlayer with no change. I can see that it is a system issue on my machine but cannot locate what needs to be reset. I have created a new user as well to see if that will work but nothing changes.

Jun 25, 2012I have a ACER aspire REVO loaded with the latest WIN 7 and updated drivers. It freezes randomdly when watching internet video from any source (all the way from Netflix, to you tube or private sites). When freezed it doies not respond to anything! Monitoring shows CPU with zero activity. Sometimes I can only move the mouse, but it does not respond to any click. I freezes anywhere from a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes (while having crazy sound) but then it continues running normally, excuting the clicks done while frozen. It happens very often.It does not happend when playing video fron hard drive, nor whith any other situation; only when playing streaming video. Video is well buffered.

I use this converter because it is the first converter I tried that gives me lossless conversion to wmv. My screen resolution is 1280x800.I use the 1920x1080 video and leave all the settings except for aspect ratio which I set to 16:9 and the resolution to encode the video at 1280x800.When I set it as my desktop background, the video is still 1920x1080 and if you compare the original to the desktop background, the video is "protruding" from the screen, so I can't see some areas.I've tried setting windows background to center, tile and all options but still nothing.

Feb 11, 2013I will try to be as descriptive as possible. I currently have GoWifi to access my internet (my room mate has it to)But for the past 4 days my computer has been running horribly slow. I can't use a enthernet cable becuase "Gowifi" is only wireless. I use google chrome most of the time, but the internet is slow on chrome and explorer. I have tried the "ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew" method. I have also tried to Reset WINSOCK, Reset IPv4, Reset IPv6, and then restarted my computer but still did not do the trick. Nov 17, 2011i recieved my new lenovo z570 ideapad yesterday...i'll just put some of the spec down incase you want to know.

yadayadayada...
anyway, after charging it up and turning it on, i started to install programmes and other bits and bobs. e.g ituens, flash player. just the usual essentials. i used the laptop to watch videos on Internet, genenral browing such as facebook, so in short, the internet was working fine. just before i went to bed that night i installed avg security (free version) and ran a full scan. when the scan finished, i put the laptop into hibernate, and went to sleep! happy in the knowledge my new gizmo was running smoothly!
just before i woke up i heard the laptop turn off as it had run out of charge. so i plugged it in and charged it up, then turned it on. this is where the problem starts...i connected via wifi however the logo at the bottom right of the screen showed the signal strength meter on empty, with a yellow star covering it. i clicked the icon, and it said, 'not connected, connections are available' and below shows im connected with 5/5 signal strength, but on 'limited access'.
1) there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter
2)there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter
there are 28 updates, but im unable to update them as i have no internet connection. i also cant connect via the ethernet cable.i cant roll back the drivers as there are no previously installed ones, and i cant update them as i am already up to date.my other laptop (acer aspire 5630 running on vista) works perfectly fine using wifi and the ethernet cable, so i honestly dont know whats wrong. after reading things on my acer about ways to fix the problem i came to the decision to restore the laptop to the time of my first installation which was adobe flash player (which i installed the day before.) i was unable to do a full factory reset as the only options available are to either restore to a backup, or re-install windows (which requires a disc, which i dont have). i also didnt configure a backup as i had only had the laptop a day!
