For the past few days, if not a week now, I've noticed that when I switch to Basic theme for RAM intesive programs like Adobe After Effects, Windows is quite slow, almost running as though my laptop is 1GB not 2GB RAM.Though when I switch to Aero theme, Windows is only slightly slower with Adobe After Effects running. My laptop is Compaq Presario CQ56, 2GB shared graphics and I can't explain why the Basic theme is running slow whereas Aero is responding faster, so much so, programs tend to stop responding more frequently on Basic. I have run MSE, MBAM and SAS (MSE realtime, others are standalone mode) and found no viruses and I update them all either daily or every two days. I only have Realtek Audio and MSE on Startup so I can't figure out why this happening!
I tried a lot of software like the aeroenabler ,aeropatch or regedit but allcan't.....the windows 7 advisor say my pc is support aero but why still can't enable??
I know that a feature of Windows 7 is changing the theme from aero to baisc during resource intensive moments particularly games. how can I disable this? I just upgraded from Vista to 7 Ultimate x64bit and I find this very distracting when playing games in windowed mode. This did not occur in Vista when playing games in Windowed mode.
I have windows 7 Home premium. I am unable to change to windows 7 basic in aero package, it is grey and cannot load. theme is stuck in windows classic. wondering if I need to reinstall windows 7.
I'm having an issue with the Windows 7 OS themes of my laptop. It's a HP DV4-2116la. When I open an application or software, no matter how big or small, Windows automatically switches to the basic (non aero) theme every time. This behaviour has never happened to me before. At the sistem performance options, Aero Peek is enabled. I haven't made any changes to my laptop, it's supposed to run smooth (it is optimized, no addware, no unnecessary background processes), and I don't have any software that stresses the computer.
I do a lot of video editing with different software and just lately when rendering a video, some programes are crashing after about 5 mins, and some change from Windows aero to basic and an alert in the taskbar shows "The color scheme has been changed to Windows Basic - The current color scheme has exceeded its allowed memory so the color scheme has been automatically changed to improve performance. Click to see more information." I've tried this ("Fix Run menu > sysdm.cpl > Advanced Tab > performance > select adjust for best performance > make sure you do not allow Windows to choose for you because your computer does not know whats best --- Make sure Enable Aero Peek is checked") but it made no difference. I've noticed a few people who have this problem also have high spec gaming pc's. My pc is'nt that high spec but not to bad here are my specs [URL] Also when using Camtasia screen capture after about a minute i get alert your pc is running slow and changes to Windows basic. I've run the Windows aero troubleshooter and it says there are no issues with anything. My Windows experience score is 5.4.
My granddaughter just purchased an Asus netbook and it came with Windows 7 Starter Edition installed...Is there any way to upgrade the operating system to Win 7 Home Edition? There is no DVD drive in this computer.
My laptop has windows7 starter installed. i have purchased anytime upgrade to home premium but it won't install. The product key is recognised. Microsoft doesn't seem to offer any support without payment.
I have a Samsung Netbook which came with Windows 7 Starter and I am finding that I miss the extras of Home Premium Retail which installed on my Desktop PC. I have the Home Premium installation disk which I used, but as far as I am aware it is a single use licence.
I have a netbook that I am thinking of returning for an exchange. The problem is that I have used Anytine Upgrade to install Win 7 Home Premium instead of the out-of-the-box Starter version. If I get a replacement netbook with Starter on it, will I be able to use the same activation number on the new one or will it ring up "Tilt"? If I need to revert to Starter to return this netbook, then how do I do that? There are too many subsequent restore points to be able to go that route. The one that would take me back to starter status has disappeared.
I have windows 7 on a acer notebook and able to use my HP 5610xi w/no problem. I recently bought an acer desktop emachine el1352g and cannot use my hp or some other software. It says that product cannot be installed with operating system. The only difference i can see is that the emachine desktop is a 64bit processor. I tried to go through hp (download driver) website but got no where.
I have recently bought LENOVO Z560 with pre-installed 32-bit Windows 7 Home Basic.
I want to know: 1) How can I upgrade to 64 bit Home Basic
2) How can I know/ get the PRODUCT KEY of my pre-installed 32 bit Home Basic
3) Do I need to pay extra amount if I upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit (as, I have heard that if I purchase, I will get 32 and 64 bit OS in a single pack only)
4) Will my existing set of drivers work fine with 64 bit Home Basic. If not, from where can I get the drivers
I recently bought a copy of Window 7 Home Basic. But all my friends and everybody I know that owns a computer have a pirated version of windows running on their computers (Third world problems).I recently read somewhere that pirated Windows CD are backdoored and viruses are installed with windows installation. Is it true? Is it possible for an attacker to do something like that?
I've installed Acronis Disk Director Suite and in manual mode I've started to create a new partition. My notebook had 3 partitions: main partition of ~300Gb with Windows installed, unknown "System" partition with "boot" flag of ~1.5Gb and recovery partition of ~8Gb. So I tried to create a new partition using the free space from the first one. After rebooting Acronis started to work, created a new partition and started to replace "HDDRECOVERY" partition. During this process, notebook had been shutdown (it was plugged into the socket) and after turning on, I noticed the next: after turning on and booting BIOS, the laptop is going to reboot again and again and again.
The problem which I faced is the same as the one given below: partitioning problem I bought a new HP laptop which came with 4 partitions all of which are Primary partitions. The c: drive came with a massive 445GB. But I do not want to use the same partition for all my needs so i was thinking of creating another two partitions. So i shrunk c: from the Disk Management leaving 320GB Unallocated space for usage. But when I tried to create a partition from I got the "changing to Dynamic disk" warning. Basically it's similar to the problem faced by the other person in the link posted above. So I followed the post #8n by "Bare Foot Kid" and it went fine, the restarting and all till I tried creating a new volume. See the screenshots below:BTW, I have no idea how it happened but Q: suddenly popped out of nowhere after the "max partitions error".HDD Q HDD Q problem So now I'm clueless.
I'm about to build my gaming computer and I got windows home basic for about $30. I was wondering does it have any limitations on graphics or memory compared to premium? My specs are 8gb ram, Intel I5 3570k, Radeon 7850, asrock extreme 4 z77.
i have an hp laptop which had windows 7 home basic 32 bit installed from the factory and has a recovery drive (which i suppose all hp laptops have ) and i havent made a copy of it on cd/dvd i saw my friend using windows 7 ultimate it was good so i was thinking i should upgrade it too from home basic to ultimate i tried from the inbuilt upgrader but it says i cant upgrade from this copy of windows so i bought windows 7 ultimate cd now the problem is that i was thinking if i install ultimate will the home basic stay and will the recovery drive stay i really want them to stay so before installing ultimate i wanted to ask will it affect the home basic and the recovery drive?
i am not being able to share my internet through wireless ..i can create an adhoc network .. but the internet doesn't get shared.. but when my friend creates the network i can access it ... i can be the client but not the server .
I recently got an activation code from a friend for windows 7, but when I installed it on my laptop it prompted for restart. The system will not boot again. The cursor will blink once at start-up but nothing shows, the screen is black, the nums. lock and caps lock are on.
