DV6700US seems to have lost the wireless network connection. A sudden failure to print gave me a printer offline message. My iMac printed fine, then I realized my iMac could not see the laptop and the laptop could not see the iMac nor printer, but still has internet connection on the laptop. I now nothing about Windows 7.

I've been told that this is either a software issue, or a hardware issue. No matter what program I'm working in, or whatever key is being touched, or touchpad is being touched, the window suddenly disappears, and I'm thrown, usually, back to the desktop. At which point I need to go to the taskbar, click on the minimized program, and it will bring me back to the page I was working on. While I was typing this, this window disappeared, and what showed were the 3 other windows that were open. I have done a malware scan, etc. etc. and nothing shows up.
Suddenly opening programs took much longer than usual to load, I have a SSD and everything had been fast before. So today I just went ahead and reinstalled Windows and the speed returned for the most part. The problem I am having now is that if I launch an install program it takes 15-30 seconds to load, but if I right click and "run as admin" it launches instantaneously. I turned UAC off and I'm on an admin account.
I was downloading windows 7 and it was at the last stage where our house lost power and the computer had to restart. I turn on the computer and just before the page where you access your accounts the installing page comes up. then a message pops up saying "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unepected errore. windows installation cannot proceed. to install windows, click "ok" to restart the computer, and the restart the installation"
I click "ok" and the same thing pops up. Im not sure how i manually restart the installation because i cannot log in into my account. Also i tried uploading my computer in safe mode and it didnt help.
How do i finish the installation
OR
How can I upload my computer with windows XP (already installed on my comp.
I've got a bit of a problem with the x64 Beta of Windows 7 which has got me stumped. When I tried previous builds (including the x86 version of the Beta) it installed fine on my second hard drive in my laptop (Drive E - I have partitions C: and D: on my main hard drive, which runs Windows Vista x86)
But when I install the x64 version of the Beta on Drive E, after Windows 7 boots (which it does fine) then the drive that Windows 7 is on shows in "Computer" as C: - my D: partition also shows up (and is correct) but my Vista drive does not show at all.
Does anyone know a way around this? When I install 7, I just select Drive E to install on as normal, so not really doing anything differnt, except, of course, you can only install the x64 version by booting off of the DVD - whereas when I install the x86 version, I always start setup from within Windows.
If I could resolve this it would be great - I have no problem with installing 7 again if needs be. I should also mention that Vista still boots fine from C.
i used win 7 and wanted to install xp as a multi-boot on my laptop for trying an xp based encyclopedia but when i installed xp i got error "ERROR LOADING OPERATING SYSTEM" so i reinstalled xp and realized that i cant see my 2 25 gb partitions full of data,so kindly guide me to get my partitions back i have currently reinstall win 7.
So the other day I decided that I wanted to try dual-booting Ubuntu 10.04 on my HP Pavilion dv7-4083cl Entertainment Notebook that already had Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit installed. I shrank the main (biggest) partition by 100Gigs and then installed Ubuntu 10.04 on that 100Gigs of unallocated space. All worked fine, except when I tried to boot Windows 7 from the grub menu, it would come up to the beginning Windows 7 animation and then it would crash. So, I downloaded a Windows 7 Recovery CD and tried a few of the tools there. I did not create a system recover image prior to my troubles, so I could not recover the easy way.
After that, I tried the Startup Repair tool, which did not work. I read somewhere to try that Startup Repair tool 2 or 3 times, which I did. The third time, it seemed to freeze; it was "working" for about 6 hours, at which point I decided that it was enough and shut down the PC. That was a mistake... From that point forward, I still could not boot into Windows, but also every time I tried to boot into Ubuntu, I had to perform a disk check, which always failed! After trying that a few times, I had had enough yet again and decided to just reinstall Ubuntu. The install seemed to work fine, but once I rebooted I could not boot into Ubuntu (or Windows 7). No matter what option I select from the grub menu (or if I push F11 to go into recovery partition), it gives me an error that says "Error: No such partition" and dumps me into a grub rescue prompt...
After releasing multiple bouts of turrets, I tried booting from my Ubuntu LiveUSB again (same one I installed Ubuntu with twice) and ran Gparted to look at my partitions. It only showed me the one 100Gig partition and said the remaining ~350Gigs were unallocated! So now I'm stuck with no bootable operating system (on my HD), and to top it off, HP just sent me their "official" recovery disks that are trying to reformat my HD and erase all my data...
I know there has to be a way to restore my partitions and replace the grub bootloader with the Windows 7 bootloader. At this point I don't care about Ubuntu at all. All of my data was on the Windows 7 partition (which I cannot access from Ubuntu to grab it).
I can provide any information that you need, but remember that I can only do so via either BIOS or by booting Ubuntu from the LiveUSB. I cannot access Windows 7. I also do not have a Windows 7 install disk as this was a refurbished HP laptop that I bought from Costco...
The OS installed some updates, and after re-booting and logging on, I got an error when one application that tried to start up failed to access my local temp file. I have local administrative permissions. I changed my temp folder environment variable to point to a different location, but this is the second time this has happened (first time was on different machine). "Cacls Temp returns Access is denied". I can't take ownership or anything of it.
I had a successful raid 5 array setup. It was assigned to g and while I was installing ps3 media server and then java it lost it's drive assignment. It shows up under disk management but asks me to initialize it. I really don't want to do that because it will format and i will lose the data on the volume. What else can i do to get my array to show up in windows with my data intact?
i try to look up instructions on how to install a program from flashdrive it is so confusing. I had scandisk on an old computer and also a super anti spyware from the same computer. I put the flashdrive in and copied it to the flashdrive. Now i need to know in easy steps how to put it on my laptop. I copied my pics from old computer this way but when I right click on the program i don't know what to do next. Do I just copy and paste it into the program files or what ? I am getting so frustrated because I am not that great using the computer this way.
i have a dell 1440 inspiron laptop it came with roxio creator DE 10.2 i uninstalled it i tried to reinstall it today several times but it says installing but the bar goes about halfway up then says rolling back then gives a message saying the wizard was interupted or something like that. I am trying to install a program onto a laptop but I keep getting a message saying "cant on current operating system" even though I have already installed the same program on my desk top which is running windows 7 as well.
Why do some programs which I download try to install to Program Files as is the norm, and others try to install to Program Files (x86), if they're all compatible with Win7 x64, and some are even specific to Win7 x64?Is there any harm in deleting the (x86) from the attempted destination folder when I download, so that I don't have two folders for my downloaded programs?
Windows 7 refused to install an old program that was probably intended for Win98, so I am downloading XP Mode, but Im not sure if I can install something from a CD onto a virtual PC, this is the first time I do this.
I have a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 32 bit and all my software is installed and working well except for one. Following a problem with the initial install attempt, I'm trying to re-install LotusSuite 9.8.2 but the previous attempt seems to have resulted in some "Lotus" registry entries that now direct things to a non-existent "F" drive. When I try to re-install from the CD, it doesn't allow me the option of choosing the destination location. Instead, it automatically tries to install in this non-existent drive. I've opened RegEdit and searched and found many references to Lotus and to F:Lotus.
How can I edit the registry to get rid of the F:Lotus entries or change them to C: ? Or just get rid of all references to Lotus? BTW, this software works perfectly on my Win 7 laptop.
recently i've got infected by malwares and tried to fix it using mcafee stinger and it fix my computer, but suddenly when I looked into my drives most of the folders are missing or somewhat the path are missing. I thought the folders are just hidden but it completely deleted or lost but still my programs are intact and working, already tried using unhider and registry fixer but to no avail still cant locate my folder files.
I'm unable to install my Epson Stylus Photo 785epx printer program onto Windows 7 (64-bit) which is connected to a wireless home network. It hangs up and gives an error message that it isn't compatible by the OS. It worked on my Windows XP desktop fine.Epson.com doesn't NOT list any downloads for Windows 64-bit for my printer model nor am I able to find any useful links helping me with this issue on that site so please, no directions to go to the Epson web site.
I am attempting to setup Homegroup for first time on new computer, I was asked to set a password. The first pw was only 7 letters. It was rejected as requiring 8 letters. Attempted to re-enter new password and program states its the wrong password. When I go to the homegroup page there is no link to see and change password.
I have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again. At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found. One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard. So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then. But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]
