4GB DDR2-1066 Installed... Windows 7x64 Not Booting?
Jul 7, 2012
I have four identical 1GB sticks of G.Skill PC2-8500 memory, and I cannot seem to get Windows 7 to boot with all of them installed. I am using a ASUS Rampage Formula board in which I have successfully used 4GB of PC2-6400 memory in the past. I've done a BIOS update to the latest version and still Windows will not boot. I know the RAM sticks are good and I can use any of them in a 2 to 3GB configuration, and load Windows fine, but once 4GB installed it will hang at the loading screen and throw a quick BSOD (much to quick to read any info); then just restart. This is a 64-bit OS so I have no idea why this isn't working, but it's obviously a Windows side issue. The hardware is good and no BIOS settings affect the hang or crash.
Safe Mode does not work with 4GB installed either and I cannot seem to set any maximum memory settings using MSCONFIG. Windows also states that only 2.00GB is usable which isn't right either... I installed the OS several months ago with only 2GB installed, but I figured adding another 2GB, using identical modules, would work just fine. At first the board didn't seem to like it but flashing BIOS seemed to help fix any instability.'ve never experienced this problem before...*EDIT*Blue Screen info is as follows:PFN_LIST_CORRUPTSTOP: 0x0000004E

I recently installed a Kinivo BTD-400 usb bluetooth adapter so I could transfer files from my Samsung Galaxy s2 I727 phone. I downloaded the current installation files from the Broadcom site. At the end of installation, a message box lists several items "ready to use" (AV source, headset, etc) but three items saying driver not installed.I have new entries in device managerBluetooth Radios - Broadcom USB device and Microsoft enumerator Network Adapters - BT device personal area network and RFCOMM protocol Other devices - Bluetooth Peripheral Device entries with exclamation marks. I added my phone shows to Bluetooth Devices but it appears with an exclamation mark. I right click, troubleshoot, apply fix. Driver for bluetooth peripheral not installed. Try again. Same result. When I select a picture and click "share via Bluetooth" I get a message "image not sent." So my phone and computer see each other, but I can't seem to send a picture.

I have Windows 7 64-bit and I want to install Windows XP 32-bit for extra cross-compatibility. I know 32 bit apps can work in 64 bit but I also need my printers and other devices working.
I need help with a guide to dual-boot operating systems but I can't find a guide that includes Windows 7 as the first operating system. Could anybody help me by pointing me in the right direction?

I have four identical 2GB sticks of OCZ Platinum DDR2-1066 DRAM (confirmed via various apps) in my rig. But BIOS refuses to run them at anything above 800MHz (Dual Channel 400MHz x 2.) At startup, Bios reports my memory is "DDR2-800".Originally, I was running only two 2GB sticks @ 1066, but after adding two more sticks of identical memory, BIOS's "Auto" settings downshifted to DDR2-800. I have tried setting the BIOS values by hand, increasing Dram voltage to 2.1v, bumping the mem-clock speed to 533, etc and so on. The result is always the same: an unstable system that crashes within minutes. It doesn't matter WHICH two sticks I use, as long as I'm only using two sticks of memory, I can run @ 1066. But never with all four installed, and I have no idea why. When I run "MemSet 3.5", it shows two of my DIMMS running @ "127ns" and two running @ "75ns". Setting all four the same (both 75ns or 127ns) causes Windows to crash. [code]

I have found guide for dual booting Windows 7 with XP or Vista already installed, but not the other way around.
I allocated some free space from my C drive for the XP install. I installed XP, but when I restarted my computer, I got this error, "A disk read error has occurred; press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart dual boot".
What am I doing wrong?

I have a portable with windows xp installed on together with pointsec security software. I decided to install windows 7 on an external e-sata harddisk to keep my work harddisk (xp) apart from my personal harddisk (windows 7).Now I can't boot anymore with the internal windows xp because windows 7 seems to have overwritten some boot files on the internal HD altough I did tell windows 7 to only install on the external HD. I guess that windows 7 installs it's bootloader on the internal harddisk. How I can I restore the original bootloader to the internal HD? Please note pointsec security software was installed on the internal harddisk.

My friends pc has windows 7 ultimate 64 bit with 2 gb ram.it runs too much slow.it has an intel core 2 duo processor. Is it good to have an 64 bit os with just 2 gb of ram? I think this thing is the culprit causing the computer to run slow.

A family member has an Acer Aspire One netbook, and they would like a Windows Operating system installed. I have already installed my copy of windows XP Home on my own identical netbook, which runs fairly well, but not great. So basically I would like to know if I got Vista or 7, would either of those run better than XP?
The specs of the AA1 are:
16Gb SSD
1.6GHz Intel Atom N270
1Gb RAM DDR2

This is a computer on which Vista x64 originally was installed. I upgraded to Windows 7x64 with the upgrade DVD. It's based on an Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard running SATA RAID0 on a pair of 1 TB HDDs with 6GB of RAM and 2 Pioneer DVD drives. My graphics card is a Matrox M9210 PCIe x16 with dual displays. The computer worked fine until recently, when EAC and dBpoweramp began freezing when ripping CDs. Acronis True Image also freezes when I try to write a bootable CDR. These functions don't work any better in Safe Mode. Other programs function normally, and Acronis works fine except when trying to write to media.
I did a System Restore to the earliest Restore Point that worked, but it wasn't early enough. I have an Acronis complete backup from 6 months ago when I was ripping regularly without incident, but would rather try to fix the problem than backing up the whole drive, then merging in my data files from a current backup.I have scanned with Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG 2012, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware, and Memtest 86+ (for 3 hours), all of which found no problems. Here are the WhoCrashed reports since the System Restore, both apparently from the same crash while trying to write an Acronis CDR in Safe Mode:windows version: Windows 7 Service Pack 1, 6.1, [CODE]This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: iastor.sys (Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver - x64, Intel Corporation).Google searches haven't turned up a case exactly like this, and I'm unsure of what to do next.

use to stop windows 7 from auto installing sound drivers. I have Realteck onboard audio on my Asrock 890 Deluxe Am3 motherboard. And have ATI catalyst for my ATI video Cards (crossfired) . I want to use Realteck as my for default sound, so when I go to device manager and uninstall the ati hd audio drivers they get deleted, but when I reboot my pc windows 7 reinstalls the ati hd drivers. How can I stop windows 7 from reinstalling the ati hd drivers. The reason I don't want two well really three sets of audio drivers because the cards are crossfired windows 7 is installing two sets of ati hd sound drivers one for each video card and the Realteck drivers, is because windows 7 is crashing when gaming and I think the sound drivers are conflicting and causing the crashes

I have the Logitech x520 speakers and Windows 7 x64. Since I've installed the new os, my 5.1 has not been working. Just the main front left and right speakers work, plus the sub. Under the configuration, it is set to 5.1, and when I run a test, all speakers make the test noise. I then thought it was iTunes, but doesn't seem like it. How come my speakers test correctly, but when I play music, only two +sub work?

I have a GA B75M D3V (bios version F9), paired with Intel Core i5 3550 (Ivy Bridge), 2 x 4 GB Patriot Extreme DDR3 PC1600.Installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP1 on it.Strange problem is, after using my computer for some time, perhaps an hour,or more, randomly, I can't completely shutdown my PC.After clicking shutdown on start menu, my PC react normal. But, after a while, the PC (case and everything inside it) like in stall state.and the monitor goes blank (no signal from the PC). So I have to press power button for 4 seconds to completely shut it down.

i just bought a new Asus laptop a few months ago everything seemed well until it started crashing saying that it faield to initialize video drive.i tried a couple of methods using gparted testdsk chkdsk,it wont boot into safe mode but i managed to boot from cd.
I tried all tools from system recovery like startup repair system restore and none seem to work also i get a message in the system recovery box Operating system:Unknown on(Unknown)Local Disk
my laptop is an asus k53s model with a 750hdd ntfs format i used gparted to make new partitions out of the 750hdd.
Nothing seems to work and id rather not make a clean install because i have very important files on it that i cant afford to lose.
Also when i boot into gparted i can see all partitions, but yellow triangle with a ! is shown near my C partition where i have windows installed.I have no idea what to do to make it see my C:

After installing Windows7 Ultimate x64 on a EEE PC Asus 1215B Seashell serie, the button which toggle wifi did not work anymore, like any other keyboard function keys (less importante now). When I log on I receive a message in a popup windows which says: You must install ATK0100 driver! I had installed the P4GX before noticed the problem. I've tried to install the driver downloaded from asus support site but I receive an error message in a pop-up windows, without any clue about what the problem is. Nothing is registered in Device manager, nothing is found in Registry, no file related to atk* in system32driverstorefilerepository. It's not possible remove nor reinstall, cause nothing bad remains after my failed installations. I've tried many times, with Troubleshoot Compatibility and Run as administrator (my regular user is also an admin). After executing the driver app, one command prompt appears showing the log of the installation process, and all of sudden disappear. No control about it. It's only possible to read the upper case word FAILURE before the window close. No log is found. It works when I restore the machine to Windows 7 Starter that comes from factory. I dont know how to get the drivers inside the hidden partition.

I am running Windows 7 (x86) on a desktop and have 2 gigs of Corsair DDR2 RAM (800mhz) installed. I also have a spare 2 gigs of cheaper DDR2 RAM running at only 667mhz. If I add the extra RAM am I right in thinking the faster RAM will run at 667mhz? Is the performance boost of double RAM going to outweigh the loss in speed from 800mhz to 667mhz? Do you think it is worth adding the extra 2 gigs?

i have 4 2gb Kingston HyperX memory at 800mhz on my P5b Deluxe. So 8gb in total. At first no problem, the motherboard recognize all 8gb with the Memory remap function 'on'The problem is that it recognizes it has PC-5300 and not PC-6400 (as it should cause they are)- So is there a way in the bios to make it that my motherboard recognize them has PC-6400 (800mhz) ? Other thing, Even though i am sure i bought exactly the same memory, in the sandra report, the 2 pairs are different.
Here is the Sandra report:
Processor
Model : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz
