24 Samsung HDMI And Sound
The sound was working on my SAMSUNG and I was trying to temporarily disable it, so I would not distrub my housemates.... So I clicked "disable" on the control panel Sounds gaget, thinking this would temporarily turn it off, like it does within the Networks gaget (I turn off wireless at work, and network port at home).
Well it did not temporarily disable it, it deleted it from the system. I have managed to get it to see the HDMI TV at 1080p resolution, but sounds
don't work on the TV since I clicked disable.
I have tried every setting on the control panel, such as sound devices, graphics, displays, tried the "find a device" all to no avail. How do I enable the sound for the samsung?

No HDMI Sound And No HDMI Audio Driver
I'm using the two monitor in the same time (I was working with the Iiyama and I was playing music or films with the HDTV). With Windows XP Pro, I've sound on my HDTV. Since i've installed Windows 7 64 bits (ver. 7100), I don't have any sound on my TV (it works perfectly with my speakers connected by 3"5 jack). I've correctly plugged the SPDIF connector from my motherboard to one of my video card (which have the two monitors plugged). Other information, when I go in the sound configuration, I see my speakers and the "Realtek Digital Output" but no HDMI Audio. I've tried to install NVIDIA HDMI Audio driver (I know that this driver is for integrated nvidia GPU but i try just to see ;) ). No audio on my TV I've tried to install older audio driver (for windows 7, vista and also windows XP) => No audio on my TV Is someone have an idea? I think that it's the NVIDIA Video driver that don't allow to have sound and i try new version but i'm not sure. For the moment, i'll display films on the tv and use my speakers to have sound but it's weird to have video in front of you and sound from your right, the stereo sound is not really usefull there.

No Signal On Boot With Samsung HDTV Over DVI/HDMI
I have done some searching but to no avail. I have tried everything I can find/think of with absolutely no luck. I have a brand new Samsung LN46B750 which I have connected to my desktop for use as an HTPC. VGA works fine, but I would much prefer to use a digital connection. SO, I have an HDMI <> DVI adapter and a monoprice HDMI cable connecting my GeForce 6800 to the HDMI/DVI port on the HDTV. I have tried 182.5 and the latest Nvidia drivers as well as the generic Windows 7 drivers. It's all the same. Everything works fine in the OS so long as I make it past the Windows splash screen. And unfortunately, that never happens. I believe that the problem lies in the auto adjustment of the screen when 7 starts loading. (If I boot without the TV connected, and then connect after the splash screen has loaded, everything is perfect.) Is there any way to disable the auto detection/adjustment of the TV and just have the OS always boot into 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz. I am really tired of the blank or black screen every time I reboot. This is a terrible bug with Windows 7 or EDID and it needs to be fixed now Microsoft!

Hdmi Sound And Sound Port
I am running windows seven with an AMD Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz card and have a flat panel television setup via hdmi and a stereo receiver/ speakers through the sound card out. I'd like sound to come out of both hdmi and the sound port that way I can here music through the stereo but when I watch standard television programs I can here through the television and turn off the receiver. the only way I've found to control the sound is to set hdmi or sound card to default in the control panel>sound. so switching back and forth is a big pain.

When i open Sound mixer and set HDMI to default device and default com device i see sound coming from source and registring on the volume bar graphs. It seems to stop right at the cable. My computer (unlike a couple of other posts i saw) does recognize the cable and seems to be doing everything right.. just no sound through my . Anyone have any ideas? i really don't want to go back to vista.

Driver Sony SXRD KDS - No HDMI Or Sound
I am having a problem with a new Win 7 build and have tried everything I could think of without success; hoping someone has a solution. Background: I installed the OS with the HDD set to Native IDE, the system automatically loaded a driver that worked with my 50" TV and sound played just fine through the TV speakers. After the fact, I realized I had failed to configure the SATA HDD for RAID AHCI and so changed the HDD setting in the BIOS and reinstalled Windows as a new system build. It failed due to the lack of a driver, and Windows being ever so "helpful", tried to fix the issue which it could not. After investigation, realized that the correct driver had to be manually loaded from a disc, so I wiped the harddrive clean, cleared the CMOS and started over again. Problem: The HDD and OS loaded just fine, but Win7 selected a "generic PnP monitor" driver, does not realize the HDMI connection and there is now no sound. Manually changing the setting to a 1920X1080 monitor does not make a difference nor does deleting the existing driver, selecting other model Sony drivers, or reloading the OS. I have spent hours trying to find a driver for the Sony SXRD (any model) with no luck. I have also tried everything I could think of to return the system to it's initial state hoping that Win 7 might reload and recognize the HMDI connection / provide sound. Welcome any suggestions you may have. What is so bizarre is that there was an appropriate driver when Win booted for the first time but it is nowhere to be found in the application. (The list of choices does not include anything similar and Realtek HDMI Audio shows that it is "not plugged in".) Look forward to any suggestions / assistance. Surround Sound Works Via HDMI, But Not WMV, No Audio
I've got a bit of a problem with my audio with my new installation of Windows 7. Previously I had Vista installed, and had no problems with my Realtek HD audio. Installed Windows 7 everything looked good, then realized my Sony A/V receiver model SA-WCT100 was not outputting my movie collection in surround 5.1 like it use to using Vista. I figured, thats cool, probably need to install ac3filter_1_51a, I had to in Vista, and it worked a treat when I enabled SPDIF pass through. I guess I should mention Im using HDMI all the way through, from my PC to the receiver, from the receiver to the LCD. Well, that didn't fix it, everything still plays in stereo. After scratching my head and clicking here and there, I finally found a little tab in the sound settings of my Realtek HDMI setting called 'Custom'. I selected it, it said to enable AC3, DTS, etc click this box will require a restart. I said awesome, sounds like just what I need. I clicked, and rebooted. I went into WMC, and setup my audio wizard again, and selected 5.1, and tested, and this time it reported 5.1 on my Sony receiver as before it only showed 2 channels (Stereo). I played some of my DVD rips, and bam my DVD rips were playing surround sound again. I was like that was easy enough. I went to test my Blu-Ray rips that I had converted to WMV HD using TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0, and the video started to play, and I was like, wheres the damn sound. I noticed on the receiver, it didn't report anything for sound. I had no idea what was going on. My surround sound was finally working for everything, but my WMV HD videos had no sound output. I mean I can't even get stereo or anything out of them now. At least before the WMV played in stereo, now I can't hear anything. Please someone tell me what could be the problem, I don't know what else to try. I don't want to have to revert back to stereo, and disable the magic box under custom in my sound setting. I have downloaded the latest Realtek drivers form Realtek, version 2.35 for the ATI HDMI audio, and the Digital Audio. I also have the latest drivers for my integrated Radeon 3200 graphics card. I read that sometimes a high resolution can affect the audio, so I lowered my resolution from 1080p, and that didn't help, which I figured it wouldn't.

ATI 4350 HDMI Card Sound Issue
I've installed the Windows 7 driver for my ATI HD 4350 card, which includes a driver for the built-in Realtek HDMI sound hardware. The sound works fine; however, when the PC goes to sleep, often the sound does not come back on when awakened. In that case, I have to reboot the PC to get sound. This isn't a show-stopper, but it is annoying. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Have Realtek High Definition Sound But No Hdmi Output
I've upgraded from vista to 7 and I am getting no sound, I've searched, searched and tried alot of different things, I see alot of people on this forum with the same issues, but I've tried most of them. I've installed and unistalled all the different drivers from realtek, but no luck. I have realtek high definition sound but no hdmi output. In my device manager it says the sound driver is installed properly, but when I tried to test the sound it fails to test tone, I don't know if it has to deal with an audio codec. I have regular speaker that connect to a sound jack. At this point I am quite desperate. I've spent all night trying to figure this out.

No Audio Via HDMI To TV
I installed Windows 7 yesterday and at first I had no audio to my TV via the HDMI cable. I adjusted the settings via the sound icon on the taskbar, playback tab, changing whether the speakers or the Digital Output Device (HDMI), Sigmatel High Definition Audio Codec was the default. Eventually I got it to work. Today, however it has stopped working again and no matter what changes I make, nothing works. When I right click on the playback device Digital Output Device (HDMI) and choose TEST, I get the message: Failed to play test tone. All sound comes through the laptop speakers. I went to device manager and checked the driver for the codec and it was up to date. When I was using Vista, to get the audio all I had to do was plug in the HDMI cable and the sound automatically went through the TV. Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this?

No Audio Via HDMI To TV Problem
The problem: Sound is working fine through my laptop speakers but when I connect it to the TV via HDMI cable the sound still comes through the laptop. I was previously running Windows Vista Home Premium and it worked absolutely fine. As in, the sound came out of the television speakers when I connected the notebook to the TV. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium and since then it does not work. I would appreciate if anyone could help me. Right now the default sound output device is: Speakers/Headphones - SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC. The other two listed are Realtek Digital Output (Optical) - Realtek High Definition Audio and Digital Output Device (HDMI) - SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC. When I try either of the other two sound does not work at all. With the Realtek one it seems to recognize the sound but I don't hear it anywhere and with the HDMI one, it doesn't work at all i.e. Fails to play test tone. I have installed all the latest drivers according to manufacturers.

BluRay Audio Via HDMI
I've been keeping an eye on these forums; I find that it provides the most succinct information regarding Windows 7. I finally bit the bullet and made myself a HTPC running Win 7 RC 64-bit. The whole purpose was to play ripped DVDs (to VOBs) from my NAS, any downloaded shows (as AVI's) from my NAS, and hopefully BluRays via the BD-ROM (I have a PS3, so this was not the main reason). It seems that I was able to get the first two objectives working without any work. All I had to do was install the latest Catalyst drivers. However, I can't seem to get Cyberlink PowerDVD 9 Ultra (or Windows Media Center) to play BluRays with anything more than 'stereo.' I've tried to research the topic, but there's just too many acronyms flying around (PAP, AAC, AC3, etc) that reading forums is like greek! From my understanding, I know I can't get the DD TrueHD (or DTS-MA) to work via HDMI. However, I THOUGHT I could at least have PowerDVD "convert" (is the proper word downsample?) the DD TrueHD to a 5.1 Multichannel audio. Am I completely wrong? Is what I want even possible?

Laptop To TV Through HDMI To Surround, But No 5.1
My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv7-2078ca Entertainment Notebook PC Specs here: Product Specifications* I have my Computer hooked up to the TV through a HDMI Cable and My TV is hooked to a surround sound receiver through red and white cables. From Audio Out on the TV The TV is a Toshiba 37HL57 I tried installing new Realtek and ATI drivers, but I still couldn't get the surround working. I installed these:- ftp://webuser:WN4Ic2i@218.210.127.133/pc/audio/HDMI_R229.exe ftp://WebUser:DAx7h9V@66.104.77.130/pc/audio/Vista_Win7_R229.exe https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/9-7_beta_win7_64_dd_CC.exe But working I mean, I go to control panel then sound and for HDMI is only lets me select stereo. After some research I figured maybe its because the HDMI goes to the TV and the TV itself only has two speakers. Still there must be a way to do this. I can't do HDMI to the surround receiver as its a bit old But, its seems to be surround when playing movies through VLC... But I tried this surround test. http://www.halfgaar.net/media/chan-id.zip and you could defintiely tell there was "audio coming from different corners". But, when the test announced which speaker the sound should be coming out, it wasn't always accurate.

Lost HDMI Audio
I have a Sony VAIO VGN-AR390E laptop. It has a SigmaTel High Definition Audio device and an Nvidia 7600 GT. My HDMI audio doesn't work and I have tried for hours today to get it working again. It previously worked just fine in Windows Vista. I am connecting it to an Integra 7.8 receiver which has video pass through via HDMI to my Mitsubishi WD-73737 monitor. I have tried connecting straight through to my TV with no luck in the audio department, and also to someone else's TV with no luck in the audio department. However, a different laptop's HDMI audio worked just fine. The image is displayed correctly though. Today I tried uninstalling my current nvidia drivers (195.62) from laptopvideo2go and installing 2 different sets of video drivers provided by Sony for my laptop that are a bit dated now. No luck. I uninstalled and re-installed the current audio drivers by Sony. No luck. I also tried the previous version of the audio drivers without joy too. I also installed the Intel chipset drivers too without luck. When I go to the control panel and click sound and properties, I am setting the HDMI/SPDIF output to default and disabling the speakers/headphones option. The speaker icon in the taskbar shows the sound levels going up and down while playing material back- but I can never hear anything. I've tried the 44khz, 48 and 96 options, and Dolby Digital, DTS checked and unchecked and nothing makes a difference when I'm trying to test them. Everything used to work with my receiver except for the WMA Pro option. Now my receiver just says "No Audio Stream Detected" while I'm trying everything. I did have the K-Lite Codec package installed but since deleted it. I also tried messing with the AC3 Filter- and also deleted. No luck there either. I've tried powering down and resetting all of my equipment many times. I'm out of options- any suggestions are very welcome!

HDMI Gives Audio Through Monitor Only In Win 7
When using XP, I can get HD audio through my ASUS VK266H monitor from my Radeon 5850 video card AND, simultaneously, normal audio through my desktop speakers and subwoofer from my DMX Fire 24/96 soundcard. This gives me a cheap solution to surround sound, which is also very useful for varying the volume levels of music during late night browsing sessions and full on parties. Windows 7 however only allows the use of one or the other, through the Sound Manager default system. This is troublesome to use for other users on the PC, especially young children, who have little or no idea of how to switch the sound output. Could MS patch this please, so as to allow both sound systems to run concurrently as in XP, allowing the user to control output levels from the far more easily accessible volume controls on the equipment?

Basically, if I turn off the hdmi mode on my tv, it used to switch from hdmi sound output to laptop's card. When I activate hdmi again, it would automatically switch to hdmi output. Dual Monitors - Quick HDMI Switch
I have an LCD TV with HDMI I like to watch movies on from my laptop. It's got an ATI HD2600 card. I had issues setting up dual screens, extended vs clone etc. I just wanted a quick an d easy plug in to watch the movie, unplug to compute again. But would always have to adjust resolution on the TV from 1650 to 1920 manually. Best I could do was to hook up the HDMI, disable the laptop display and it would show 1920 on the TV and when I unplug the HDMI, the display would come back on and show it's 1650. This is the only way I've figured out so far that would switch to the right resolution automaically. Plugging the HDMI back in would kill the laptop monitor and show on the TV.

HDMI Input Not Filling Monitor In Applications
I've just built a new computer with Windows 7 and a gigabyte brand radeon HD4890 and have been having the same issue as some other users with regard to the over/underscan. I managed to correct the inch or so of unfilled space when displaying the desktop by using the under/overscan utility in CCC (thanks to info on this forum ^_^) but found that the problem still exists when I ran my first full-screen applications. I installed, updated, and ran Spore: Galactic Adventures to take a look at how my system was going to handle everything, but found that the dreaded inch was back. The really odd thing was that when I switched Spore to windowed mode, the inch had gone and I could maximise to full-screen. Of course, the window header and taskbar kind of detract from the game, but this isn't necessarily an issue for Spore (which can hardly be described as immersive). I am, however, concerned that this issue may pop up in other games where the window header and taskbar will detract from the game (if it operates well in windowed mode at all). I plan on investigating further later today, possibly in the direction of motherboard and chipset drivers, but also testing with other games.

INSTALLATION FAILS WITH HDMI MONITOR CONNECTION
Setup: Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H mobo w/NVIDIA  7100/630i chipset                Intel E2200 CPU                Seagate 320GB 7200rpm laptop SATA II HD on eSATA                Seagate 160GB 7200rpm laptop SATA II HD (internal)                2 GB 800 MHz RAM                HP w2207h monitor on HDMI port                Sharp LL-171A-B monitor on VGA port                External USB DVD On-board video drives both monitors.  After an eight hour download I attempted to install Win 7, only to spend eight hours troubleshooting the installation process. No matter what I tried the installation always failed about one minute after the ‘Completing Installation’ phase started. There was no hint of what was causing the problem – the monitor screens suddenly went black and the system  rebooted. Installation finally succeeded after I disconnected the HP monitor from the mobo’s HDMI port. I tried another install with only the HP monitor connected and the install failed once again.    After the installation successfully completed using only the VGA monitor, hot-plugging the HP monitor to the HDMI port brought the HP to life and Windows automatically set the correct resolution.  This issue is apparently unique to Win 7 because I have not experienced installation issues with XP regardless of monitor configuration.   Once the monitor issue was identified, total time to accomplish a clean install was < 15 minutes on the above system and slightly longer my older AMD – based backup machine. I encountered no other issues with clean installs on the internal HDs or on the external eSATA - connected HD on either system. IMO, MS has done an excellent job in redesigning the installation procedure. The entire process is about as hands-off as it can get and it’s fast, too.
