When I try to connect my TV to my laptop via an HDMI cable the video works but the sound still plays from my laptop. I used to have no problems with the sound, but now it doesn't even show up as an output option. I have tried restarting the laptop with and without the HDMI connected and with the TV both on and off (I saw this suggestion in another post) but that did not work. How do I get HDMI to show up as an output option and get the sound to play through the TV?
Microsoft installed some Windows 7 updates recenly and now my CD/DVD drive isn't listed as a Drive in the " Computer" window. I can play and burn cd's but it doesn't list it as a drive until I insert media.I'm on a HP laptop runing WINDOWS 7 64BIT .
I have a Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive (External).I use it 99.9% of the time on my Windows 7 64bit computer to store pictures/videos and backup important files. It was working fine until I plugged it into a MACINTRASH to backup files from that computer. It was a simple copy and paste from the MACINTRASH to the External HDD.After copying the files from the MACINTRASH, I plugged it back into my PC.My PC no longer recognizes my external HDD. I unplugged the power, plugged it back in.Same with the USB cable. Rebooted. Then my computer wouldn't reboot and windows did its automatic self repair. Nothing.I unplugged EVERYTHING and left it that way for about 30 minutes. I plugged EVERYTHING back to my computer and turned it on.
Windows booted up fine. I plugged in the external HDD and windows had that little icon telling me it was installing drivers. I was excited to think that it finally would recognize my external HDD.Of course, it didn't work. The HDD does not show up in my computer. It does show up in Device Manager and Disk ManagementDevice MangerUnder Disk Drives it lists it only as "WD" My other drives it has a nice long name like "WD 7500AAK External USB Device" Under properties it tells me Volume information for the disk cannot be found. (The very first time I did that prior to the reboot it said there was 0MB of space on it). It claims the device is working properly Disk ManagementAt first this said that I must initialize my disk. Now it doesn't even show up anymore. I have no idea what to do anymore.
Usually, I can see Asian characters (specifically Chinese and Japanese) perfectly fine, but since the last time I restarted my computer none of them are showing up. They don't show in foobar2000 (a music player) either, unless I switch the font to Meiryo (a Chinese font). They used to show up with no problem.
They still show up in Chrome.

I use the on screen keyboard quite regularly but the word prediction function has stopped working it no longer appears in the options menu have trawled through a large number of web pages without any success Clean boot sfc /scannow change admin settings reset tablet.System Restore Plus several others all without success.
Yesterday I installed a new external hard drive - following the installation - my sound no longer played through my television (video is fine, HDMI connection) and sound now comes ONLY through the laptop speakers. The option for HDMI Audio doesn't appear in the 'sound' menus. I have 'checked' "shoe disabled" and "show disconnected" in those menus. [code] I use my HD TV as my primary monitor for gaming, so having sound through laptop speakers and not TV is quite annoying.Perhaps my only solution is another sound card?
I recently done a new build, not with the same specs I have on here; i5 2500k p8z77-m pro sapphire radeon 6870 I cannot get any sound through the front+back headphone jacks, realtek doesnt detect any audio devices, however i can mess around with the settings to get windows to say i have speakers+mic and 2nd audio devices plugged regardless if anything is plugged in or not.
I am running windows seven with an AMD Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz card and have a flat panel television setup via hdmi and a stereo receiver/ speakers through the sound card out. I'd like sound to come out of both hdmi and the sound port that way I can here music through the stereo but when I watch standard television programs I can here through the television and turn off the receiver. the only way I've found to control the sound is to set hdmi or sound card to default in the control panel>sound. so switching back and forth is a big pain.
I can`t get surround sound over the HDMI. I have tried old drivers, and forworth to the newest. Nothing gives me surround. I have a Yamahasurround reciver that gives me the sound. And it works anything else I have tried on it. Inside windows, if I trie to go to sound options, goes to configuration on the HDMI inside sound opt. I can`t get anything else than stereo.
Right i picked up a pc that needed some tlc, tried installing windows 8 and get the error so installed windows 7.Quick breakdown:motherboard - k7s41cpu - amd seprom 2400+graphics card - powercolor x1950 pro agp 256mbHad a few problems installing the video card - but after going into bios and changing agp to 4x instead of 8x it now works great - full hd display using a dvi - hdmi 1.4v leadNow my problem is I cant get any sound, having read and read i now know there is sound output through DVI (19 pins video / 5 pins sound)My question is how do i enable the sound through my x1950 proI have tried installing the realtek hd audio drivers but it just comes back no driver installed.
My motherboard has two seperate sound capabilities. The normal sound outputs [Jacks in the back, headphone jack in the front] and sound over the HDMI.I use our 37 inch flatscreen as my second screen, and if I put a Blue Ray in, the software asks me if I want to use the regular sound, or the HDMI [and the sound comes out my TV]
Since today I can no longer get the "Manage audio devices" window or "Change system sounds" window from the control panel to appear, nor will "playback devices" from right-clicking on the speaker icon on the task bar get me this screen. So pretty much the "Sound" options are not available.
And then 3.5 minutes later I will have it will magically appear.
While this is a fairly new computer it's been running fine for a bit. Only change yesterday: I installed Office 2010. I went through the update history and pretty much everything is office related. I updated graphics drivers. I shouted abuse at the computer.
I have a HP Compaq 2230s laptop and it has a HDMI port. I use a High-Speed HDMI cable to connect it to my LG 3D Smart TV. I finds the video but it does not get the audio (partially). Once I connected, I tested for sound using the volume mixer and the "ding" is played on my TV. But when I try to play a song from my laptop, it is coming from my laptop speakers!
Just bought a new Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS graphics card to replace my dying onboard video.I have a Vizio HDMI TV however I am not getting sound through the HDMI cable. Was under the impression HDMI transmitted video as well as sound. Not sure if the problem is with the TV or with the Video Card?
The sound was working on my SAMSUNG and I was trying to temporarily disable it, so I would not distrub my housemates.... So I clicked "disable" on the control panel Sounds gaget, thinking this would temporarily turn it off, like it does within the Networks gaget (I turn off wireless at work, and network port at home).
Well it did not temporarily disable it, it deleted it from the system. I have managed to get it to see the HDMI TV at 1080p resolution, but sounds
don't work on the TV since I clicked disable.
I have tried every setting on the control panel, such as sound devices, graphics, displays, tried the "find a device" all to no avail. How do I enable the sound for the samsung?
i got a ATI radeon HD 5570 graphics card with HDMI out the video works ok but no sound to tv even if i make default in controll panel sound, i also have a terra tec aureon 5.1 pci sound card installed plus on board sound i think pq5 pro mobo just downloaded new drivers that i could find still not work.
This HP upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. I have video but no sound at all. I went to intel's website and downloaded the intel graphic drivers. But the sound drivers say un-recognized. In my device manager I see IDT High Definition Audio CODEC and Inter(R) High Definition Audio HDMI. My HP model is dv4-1465dx
For my radio project and podcasts I've invested in a digital microphone. I also got a wireless keyboard and mouse with volume control, not very important but it factors in.
When I start Windows I have two sound devices: The actual speakers and this ProSound mic. Under the actual speakers would be things like VLC and under the mic would be other vital things like Iron (Chrome). If I want to watch/listen to something online I have to plug out the mic. This puts all the programs under the Speakers device. If I plug it back in these programs RETURN to the ProSound mic.
So first of all I need to know why my programs made this choice and how do I put a stop to it? Secondly how do I make my speakers my primary device so I can use these awesome volume controls I paid out the *** to use.
When I connect my laptop to TV through HDMI cable, I get both video and audio from it to play on TV. And if I connect speakers to the headphones output I can't hear sound in speakers, the HDMI audio is still playing on TV. Is it possible somehow to disable the audio on HDMI so only the video will pass? Or maybe to make the sound from headphones output to play audio as well?
but there is on thing tht i want to add is tht i hav tried going into playback devices but for some reason it says nothing bout the hdmi. It just says "speakers" and "realtek digital output".
I have an Aspire 5738Z laptop running Windows 7 Home Premimum. I am trying to set up a HDMI cable connection to my Toshiba Smart TV. The picture is fine but there's no sound. When I go into Sound in the Control Panel, there is no HDMI option to choose in order to send the output to the TV speakers (only "Speakers" and "S/Digital Audio S/PDIF) . I've tried downloading various Graphics Media Accelerator Drivers from the ACER, INTEL and REALTEK sites but they all say that they are not validated for my computer.
i am in the process of setting up my audio preferences but i'm confused about various aspects of windows 7 audio settings in the device/sound manager. my computers are part of a recording studio setup, and as such, one of my computers has an maudio 1010lt audio interface card. as my studio is also an entertainment setup, i began to investigate if win 7 has some kind of audio "profile" manager, whereby i might be able to select various "devices" or outputs that would automatically be selected when various applications are started. for instance, when i use my daw(reaper), i would like win 7 to automatically select the maudio card as the in/out as the maudio outputs(8) are connected to a patchbay, and are normalled to be connected to an analog mixer. however, if i am listening to audio on the net, like Internet etc, i would like the mobo onboard stereo(front) outputs to be selected by the os, as they are connected to a pair of standard computer powered speakers, as i do not want the mixer powered on during regular listening. and then there is the movie thing. since my mobo has stereo, 5.1, and 7.1 as well as s/pdif output jacks,(and input), from what i understand, the s/pdif output must be used for sound surround as the onboard realtec chips decode dvd etc to the s/pdif outputs, which i would like to connect to a soundsurround reciever, with 5.1 speaker setup, of which the front speakers are used for standard stereo listening..anyway, as i looked at the device/sound manager screen, i saw an "hdmi" device in the list.(see screenshot). well, i don't have anything in the computer that has an hdmi output. so, i am curious. can anyone tell me what this "hdmi" device is or what it is referring to?
I'm looking to set my PC up to play through my TV (a Panasonic TH42PX60b) via a HDMI cable, however there appears to be no sound! I have tried changing the default devices but it still won't work! Should the HDMI carry the signal or do I need to run a 3.5 jack as well.
I recently did a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, my laptop came new installed with Windows 7 Home Premium. Everything works fine and showed no errors. When I tried to play any sound, nothing works. The equalizer on the speaker shows sound going up and down but still no sound. Nothing is showing being muted, I've checked all the settings many times, etc. I've let windows find the drivers, I've manually tried drivers (Vista_Win7_Win8_R270) nothing works. I have two drivers Realtek High Definition Audio and High Definition Audio Device installed. I've uninstalled and reinstalled trying only one driver, etc. I get no sound through headphones or external speakers. I do get audio to my TV through HDMI however.
I also have no sound coming from my Hdmi out after upgrading to RC 7.
I have a Dell XPS 1330 notebook. Audio is Nvidia HD Audio and IDT HD audio codec, both have latest drivers.
When i open Sound mixer and set HDMI to default device and default com device i see sound coming from source and registring on the volume bar graphs.
It seems to stop right at the cable. My computer (unlike a couple of other posts i saw) does recognize the cable and seems to be doing everything right.. just no sound through my .
Anyone have any ideas? i really don't want to go back to vista.
when i connect acer laptop to tv using HDMI, I get no sound but the picture is fine. On the sound options I only see the Speakers and Digital Output options but dont see any HDMI Audio output. This used to be visible earlier (and the sound used o work) but this option suddenly vanished.
I connected my computer to my monitor via hdmi but there is no sound coming from my monitor. i updated all drivers and even tryed to connect the monitor to a reciever from the head phone jacks. i get sound from my computer to the reciever that way byt not thru the monitor. monitor is e2370 lg and my graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 5450.
Originally, my speakers were not playing any sound, but when I plugged in my headphones, I could hear it. I tried going to Control Panel > Sounds and then chose my speakers to be the "Default device." Now, my speakers work, but when I plug in my headphones, the sound still plays through the speakers and not through the headphones. So basically, I think the problem is that the computer cannot switch between the two without me setting one to be the permanent default one.
I have an HP Pavilion dv2911us. Another interesting point to note is that the Quickplay strip doesn't seem to be working normally. When I press the mute button, it mutes the sound, but it doesn't turn red. This also happens when I try to adjust the volume. The volume changes, but the thing that pops up to show the current volume doesn't change.
