Windows Movie Maker : Audio Does Not Play
Aug 23, 2009When I try to add audio to a movie within movie maker, the audio does not play, yes the audio plays in media player, yes the sound is turned on, no the song is not muted, yes audio works withing Movie Player (i.e., video has sound with it and is working ). I tried automovie and making a " music video " , but WMM crashes when i do that,

Apr 14, 2008All the .avi files I have tried to import into Windows Movie Maker have only had the audio, and when I've opened the properties window, it says that they are audio files, even though I imported them as video. Random video clips that came with my computer (.wmv files) work. I know that other people have had to convert their files to .avi files to make them work, but what do you do when it is .avi files that won't work?

Windows DVD Maker: Music Wont Play
Mar 23, 2008I am trying to use Windows DVD maker for the first time and I am running into the problem that I am having is the slide show works great but the music wont play right after each other there is like a 5 to 10 min pause before the next song with pick up to go with the slide, I have more songs then I have mins for pics but it still will not play it the right.

May 29, 2008I'm using WMM on Vista. I was editing a video last night. The video has no effects or transitions. Just some elaborate cutting. I spent about an hour and a half on it, and I was nearly done. But suddenly, the timeline won't play back. I can't very well do my cutting without a preview. The play button does nothing.I've tried many of the makeshift solutions posted. I tried taking out the opening clip and putting it back. The same with the last clip. I've rebooted. I've even copy and pasted the entire project into a new project. When I copy and pasted the video, I got playback on the new project, but when I transferred the audio track, I ran into the same problem.

I've tried all sorts of things. I unticked "AVI DVD Compressor" because when I left it ticked, whenever I tried moving .AVI vids to the timeline it would just say "Windows Movie Maker Has Stopped Working" and close
the whole thing. But unticking it got me atleast somewhere, but now I face yet another problem.....

Mar 23, 2008I was trying to import some videos I downloaded online and it says,"The file C:UsersRosalieDownloads[DB]_Naruto_Shippuuden_010_[EC7747DE].zip cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again." But, I already installed the DivX codec that the website I downloaded the clip from recommended and I tried restarting WMM.
I know that I did this before on my old computer. I downloaded videos from the same website, and I had to download the DivX codec. Once I downloaded the codec, the files worked, and i was able to download them. Does anyone know why it won't work for me now? Could it have anything to do with the files having been downloaded as zipped folders?

Jun 9, 2008For some reason my Windows DVD Maker has ceased to work when it used to work perfectly. I am able to add files to burn but when I hit next and go to where I can change the settings before burning it says that "windows dvd player has stopped working and windows is checking to see if there is a solution to the problem" I then get a message box stating "a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
This program used to work just fine but stopped working and I do not get a notification of what the problem is or a code or something from Windows. I've recently updated to SP1 using Vista on an Acer 5570 laptop. I've tried changing the speed and placing the video on my desktop instead of pulling from folders but that makes no difference. I've changed file extensions, downloaded other programs to convert files to different types thinking that's what was wrong. Nothing has worked. I can view just fine using Windows Media Player so I'm not sure why I can no longer burn using this program......
Play Video Or Audio Files On Media Center Through The TV Via HDMI
Dec 27, 2009When I try to play video or audio files on Media Center through the TV via HDMI, the video and audio is very laggy. It also sounds sort of static like. When I play CD's or DVD's the problem is resolved. Also, when I unplug the HDMI, the problem is resolved. Also, when I minimize Media Center, the problem is resolved. It only happens when the HDMI is plugged in and Media Center is Maximized. I have searched all over and have not been able to find a solution to this problem. I have tried changing the HDMI cords and changing the HDMI input on the TV. I've also tried to use a different TV and no luck.

Mar 24, 2008Just reinstalled Vista (32) Untimate. Was haveing trouble installing SP1 and needed to get rid of a lot of junk so did a complete new install. Now WMP 11 will not play. Get a msg that says the following "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Get this msg when trying to play MP3, WMA and WMV's. Worked fine before reinstall. I tried ripping a track and it worked fine but after ripping would not play the file - rip both to MP3 and WMA. Downloaded Winamp and it works fine and plays all the files.

Mar 23, 2008I have premium vista and i've used movie maker to create a film containing only video. when i try and encode it to wmv (dvd quality) it starts ok then just hangs half way though encoding. So I tried to burn it to DVD instead - DVD maker opens and I made a menu then clicked burn. It starts and makes one pass of the encoding progress bar. It then returns to zero and says buring and goes to 0.6% before stopping there. Both applications are running in task manager and respond to minimize/maximise/close etc without problems. my cpu use is low and I have free ram. I have tried different media and slowing down the burn speed, all to no result.

Im trying to help a friend fix their sound on their HP Compaq Presario F500 (2EA)Laptop. They have the annoying red cross over the audio icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen (No Volume Mixer).
I have tried numerous things like:-
- Completely uninstalled the (Conexant High Definition) drivers in device manager, restarted and let Vista install them again.
- Downloaded latest drivers from RealTek,, and also HP
- Unfortunately their are no system restore points before the problem happened.
I have a sneaking suspision that either Windows Update installed something that is clashing with this problem or I herd that Itunes may have somethign to do with it (Which was installed near the time).
Explorer Window Showing Different Filenames Than The Command Line Window
Mar 25, 2008Can anyone explain this: 3219. The screenshot shows the folder view (in Windows Explorer), and a directory listing (in a Command Line window). Why is the Explorer window showing different filenames than the command line window? It's not so much of an issue, as I'm currently completing a scheduled backup of this drive using Nero Burning ROM, and will be formatting it soon.

Windows DVD Maker Stops At 98.8%
Apr 20, 2009I have an HP Pavilion Media Center m8200n PC with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. The problem is with publishing from WMM to DVD using Window DVD Maker. The encoding process goes fine but once it begins to finalize (98.8%) the DVD will eject and then it gives me the message that it cannot complete the burning process due to an error but it doesn?t tell me what the error is. The only thing mentioned is to check the burner and make sure it is connect properly. I should mention that I have an internal LightScribe burner (ATAPI DVD A DH16A3L SCSI cd Rom device). After spending the better part of a Sunday afternoon I tried using only a LightScribe DVD and that worked but in the past I have been able to use any brand DVD.

May 13, 2008I have been trying to publish a project created in Windows Movie Maker in Windows DVD Maker. However, each time i add the project in and click next, windows shuts dvd maker down. The problem and resolutions page suggests i try disabling lmpgtspl.ax, which i have done to no avail. I can add in the individual unedited video clips without issue, but not the finished project. I can publish the project on my computer and burn it onto DVD that way, but i then lose certain features, such as scenes etc.

Sep 2, 2008I’m having trouble creating a DVD from AVI files using Windows DVD Maker, When I try and Import an AVI clip into DVD Maker I get a message pop up that says file type is unsupported or corrupt, it does this for all my AVI files, My hunch is that I do not have the correct codec’s, if so does anyone know what codec’s I might need and where to get them from, DVD Maker does support AVI files right ?
My ultimate aim is just to get my AVI movie files onto DVD (for playback on a standalone player) so do not necessarily need to use DVD Maker just thought it would be easier using a built in Microsoft app
Movie Maker Clips Gone
Dec 11, 2008I've been using movie maker to make sports videos for a couple years now. I had a huge collection of clips in many folders. I recently opened movie maker and all the folders and clips I've been collecting over many months have vanished. This is a nightmare and a tremedous loss of valuable data.
