Mar 23, 2008I've had to rebuild Vista Business O/S twice in last 48 hours. Noticed this Vista update file getting an Error Code: 8000FFFF when it tries to install into desktop.

Apr 11, 2008That is the message I get from the icon in my Vista tray. When I try to manually check for Windows Updates I get the message that I need to "first install an update for Windows Update". When I try to install that update for Windows Update, I get error code 80070643. There is a lot written about Windows Update error 80070643 having specifically to do with restarting the Office Source Engine for Microsoft Office 2003. HOWEVER, I do not have Microsoft Office 2003 installed on my system and this is not my issue! I am quite fearful at this point that I am vulnerable to all sorts of attacks considering that I haven't updated Vista for about 6 months now. This is not good.

I received an error: Error details: Code 57A. I tried multiple times to install, all with the same error. I did try downloading the update to my desktop, and install with the option "run as administrator...no luck. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.
Windows Update Failing Error Code 80070103
May 27, 2009in my Windows Update, this 'optional' update is forever on there, waiting for me to install it. Well, when I do try to install it, it just ends up failing with error code 80070103 (Unknown error). Is this update necessary for regular use or do I need it, despite it being labeled optional. Oh, and why does it fail continually?

Jun 24, 2008I had sp1 installed, installed a new video card(Gigabyte 8800GT nforce edition if that helps), had to reinstall the OS before the system would recognize the card. After reboot, I ran update and got a bunch of updates. A few days later, update listed sp1 under automatic updates. i ran the update and got this error:

I've gotten this error before on another machine and it was pretty easily fixed by deleting a few folders(as per the instructions in the Help guide). This time, it isn't working. I've tried the steps listed at least a Dozen times, I've downloaded the stand-alone update, combined the error fix with a restart, and I always get the same error. Now, my computer is constantly telling me to install the update, but it won't let me. I really don't want to have to reinstall again.

Apr 13, 2009My uncle bought a brand new computer in Nov 2008. He set it up with a log in name and password. He forgot his password and gave up trying to log in, put the laptop away in a box and ignored it til now as he wants to use it now.
He tried for hours to crack his password, trying everything that he thought it could be, but still no joy. He then went on my computer and downloaded something called "killdisk" ( then transferring to his comp via CD) believing that this would basically restore everything when booted up. However whenever he turns his comp on now, it says " insert a bootable disc...." and wont load anything up ie windows vista! He then downloaded a "windows vista recovery disc" from a website that now, when the comp is turned on takes him to " intall windows" He types in the 25 digit product key but is told "windows cannot open the required file D:/ sources/ install.wim. The file does not exist. Make sure all files for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070002"
So he then clicked " repair your computer" where he is asked to select an operating system to repair.... however there are no operating systems to select! Does this mean that he has unintentionally deleted or uninstalled windows vista? If so, is it possible to get it back? Can he download something, or transfer vista from my laptop or what? Sorry, I know this is a large post but I wanted to make sure all the info was in.

Jul 29, 2009I have tried several things, followed advice from here and microsoft and still no joy... i have reregistered .dll files, recommended through microsoft website..i have deleted restore points...i have turned off windows defender..i have allowed windows/microsoft site in security tab in internetoptions. I also cannot update defender. My computer does check for updates, but extremely slow, then when it has found the ones needed, it downloads them, but when it comes too installing it says: The following 75 updates could not be installed, error code 0x80004002, im sure its just something simple..ty for your time..

May 16, 2009I updated my graphics card acouple of months ago to a Geforce 9800GTx+ with a 550w psu. Since then Ive been getting critical error code 132 from WoW and alot of blue screens with about 5 or 6 different BCCodes. Im on the WoW tech support forums for the critical errors but the blue screens are more of a problem. Ive updated all the drivers..I think. Ran a memory diagnostics tool, error checking on the hard drive, problem reports and solutions, disk clean up and defrag.. theres gonna be something else, maybe I dont have ALL the drivers updated or maybe I do and just dont have the most recent update...Im hoping you guys can tell me what to do.
Im not real computer smart but since all this has been happening Ive learned alot. Ill post all the info I can and if theres anything you wanna know Ill post it too. Ill check this alot so Ill reply asap. Attacted is a diagnostics, dxdiag, hwmonitor reports and screenshots of all the cpu-z and gpu-z. May 19, 2009Got a laptop that, when a user logs in the following message is displayed and the system logs off again "Windows can not log on because you have not activated your copy of windows Error Code 0XC004F028 Software Licensing Service reported that the policy cache is invalid" Given that I cant login to activate vista is there any suggestions. To make matters worse the cd drive has set to second boot device, F12 function has been disabled and Bios has been locked.... and yes you huessed it they dont know the password for BIOS

After a month of email support from HP I was told they had exhausted their resources and to call for telephone support. After several hours over two or three days, the tech (island of Cebu, Philipine Islands) identified a failure.In the software installation process, regsvr32 calls for a vbscript.dll. An Error Message results: "The module "vbscript.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80004005". His solution was to reformat and re-install Vista, etc.This seems somewhat similar to other printer istallation problems I noticed in searching previous forum entries.
