I am trying to uninstall Nero (the 'burning' program). The uninstall program won't remove it. Windows' Add/Remove Programs won't remove it. Finding the files and deleting manually has no effect. How do I remove it?

I was having problems installing a program (Berlitz German Premier) where the install would just disappear halfway thru the process. A program would not appear under my programs list but when I went to Uninstall an icon for uninstall of the Berlitz software appears for each time I tried to install it. However I get the following error messages (see attached document with screen captures) when I tried to delete it the traditional way.
When I use Windows Install Clean Up utility, the program is nowhere to be found on the list; thus I can't use that program.
Somehow the 'uninstall' button disappeared for most programs on my Vista Home Premium box when I used Control Pannel -> Programs -> Uninstall a Program. A few programs still have 'uninstall' button available - those have 'installed on' showing. The rest (80+% of all)don't have 'installed on' values showing and don't have 'uninstall' button.

Is it hard to make this change say it is easy to uninstall avast and replace with vipre? how to go about uninstalling avast completely so that you may not mass remaining residue left by avast antivirus after you uninstall? have read and I understand there are two choices: uninstall via control panel add / remove programs 2nd or to start your computer in safe mode and use any uninstallutility from avast (maybe you do not need to uninstall using Add / Remove Programs?). which way is best to choose and is this enough or do I delete a file / folder manually?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't uninstall apps shown on Add/Remove programs nor can I update to SP2 for Office 2007. Same error code 2203. This has been going on for quite a while. Using Vista Ultimate. I'm willing to completely re-install Vista but have issues I think because I started out with XP with free upgrade to Vista Home. Then I purchased the upgrade to Vista Ultimate. So I don't have a new installation version of Vista to install as new. Same would apply to Office 2007: I only have the upgrade CD. How can I fix the uninstall/install/2203 problem? (The supposed fix for Windows Installer also fails with the same error code) Or alternatively, how can I do a complete new install of Vista Ultimate and Office 2007?

In the add/remove programs list - when clicking on a program I want to remove the uninstall button is missing...on a newer program it will reappear? I have many programs I would like to uninstall but no option to do so. I have read every post I could find without any luck.

I have windows vista ultimate 64bit. When im going to control panel>programs I see in the programs list on the tope a program something like ~!@$@54534#@!@~!.EXE. Sometimes the program is 8mb sometimes its 763mb when im trying to make for it uninstall im getting a msg that it cant find the uninstall info file or it dosent exist. I search in my pc a place installed with something that is 763mb or 8mb in the date it show in the programs list 13/11/2008 but none is exist. I tried to use SpyBot Search and destroyed so it found things but didnt solve anything. I have on my machine nod32 for long time didnt help. I have also Avira AntiVir install it didnt help.
I tried hijackthis posted the log file online to analyze it cleaned what was BAD but it didnt helo either. I tried to use Adaware 2008 so its found some stuff cleaned but it didnt help. What else could it be? I dont understand it. Im sure its a apyware torjan worm or a virus beacuse sometimes its 8mb sometimes 763mb and cant be uninstalled or removed.
I 'partially' installed a Click'N'Design program on my Vista Home Premium before the computer 'hung' due to obvious incompatibility. Unable to uninstall it now with Control Panel's 'uninstall a program' which returns an error message 'unable to locate the Install.log file'. Windows Install Clean Up does not list this program (as I presume it wasn't installed using Windows Installer).

View 6 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has installed F-secure anti-virus program on his computer and now he wants to change it to other because.. well it pretty much sucks a lot. It slows down incredibly the machine, and it's with good parameters. So he asked me for help. The installation was long time ago so System Restore is not an option. I know a lot of people have big problems trying to uninstall F-secure. That's why I uninstalled it using Your Uninstaller in the most aggressive way of uninstall. When I tried to install the new one - ESET Smart Security, it showed me a message that F-secure is detected and it should be removed first.
I checked in Program Files and saw F-secure folder with 400 MB info in it. It couldn't be deleted so I went to Safe Mode with Command Prompt and managed to delete the folder. The same message "F-Secure detected". I checked and it's in several other places all over the Windows Folder and Program Data folder... Also it's in so many places in the registry. I don't know how to remove it. Every time i try to delete file in the explorer it shows me that I don't have the permission, and if I try to delete something in the registry it shows me error that it cannot be done or something (yes, i had made back up of the registry(
I was in my registry yesterday trying to completely uninstall a particular program (a question for another time), and noticed the following under HKEY_classes_root:
SKBMonitor.KeystrokeMonitor
and

Both have a subdirectory of CLSID, and the first has a CurVer subdirectory, as well.
I'm running Vista Ultimate SP2 and for some time now I'm having significant trouble installing and uninstalling programs. Whenever I try to install or uninstall, the process starts and it either takes a very, very long time to complete (2 hours or more), or the process hangs and I get a message stating the installer is not responding. I think I have found at least part of the problem in that system restore is not operational. If I open the "system protection" tab, the system restore button is greyed out and there are no disks displayed to create restore points. My belief is that system restore is not creating a restore point when an install/uninstall is started and
thus the process times out.
On a number of occasions, after uninstalling a prog, a message box tells me that there are elements of the prog remaining and that these can be removed manually. It does not suggest a way of doing this.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi uninstalled "Fable Lost Chapters" because it was using up space on my drive. So i uninstalled the game, half way through the uninstallation the PC lagged so i used task manager to close the uninstaller. My first mistake was right there, after when i tried to uninstall it, it said i had finished but everything was clearly still there.
So i read around the forums, and i used a force uninstaller which worked fine, except the "fable lost chapters" icon was still in the "uninstall or change program" windows, with no stats, (ie how big it is, last altered ect). Game was gone but the value was still there. So i fished around the regeditor hoping to find it, but no luck there. I have also tried using "C CLeaner" to delete the entry but it gives me this error message "Cannot delete MSI installer" no idea what that means.
When I try to remove Drive F at the Computer window, or from the taskbar, it says "can't remove, in use by another program". This became an issue after I ran Windows Backup for the first time. Earlier backup was the Acer version. Acer's version backs up C partition and records on D. Windows backed up C and D and recorded on external drive F. How do I determine which program is preventing me from safely removing Drive F? Should I delete the Windows backup and use Acer's backup program exclusively? How do I delete the Windows backup?

In the bottom right corner, I always have Adobe Downloader, Skype, Kodak Printer Status, Web Cam, etc. that I don't want to start up but want available on my desktop if I ever need them. If I go to Add/Delete programs, that will get rid of the program entirely. I just want to get rid of the automatic start up feature of the program. How can I do this????

I thought I had it successfully uninstalled, however I noticed the other day that it was still listed in Programs and Features in Control Panel. When I click on it there are no options for 'Modify' or 'Uninstall'. I did a search for Intellitype in my C drive and found only a couple of empty folders which I then deleted. This did not solve my problem though... I found a couple of Intellitype items in my regedit but I do not want to be messing around with my registry without knowing the consequences. How do I remove this program from my Control Panel and is it safe to delete these items in the registry? .....

The first concerned a Scanner, where Add/Remove would not remove all the software, so that installation of the new Scanner is not possible, until a procedure recommended by the Scanner's makers involving modifications to the Registry is carried out, which I could not possibly do myself, so it means hiring a Professional to do the job!
The second concerns Spellex. Here again the old version has not been removed, so that installation of the latest version is not fully carried out, making the software useless. How can Microsoft produce Windows where such problems occur? What is the experience of others in case this is a fault with my computer?
