Taskbar Toolbars, Language Toolbar Shows Up
Sep 8, 2009I'm using Windows XP SP3, every time I cut my computer on the language toolbar shows up. I'm getting tired of cutting it off every time. How do I stop it from coming up?

The Language Toolbar Becomes Floating Instead Of Staying On The System Tray
Apr 5, 2010i have a vista home premium 32bit on a laptop, which randomly gets problems: 1.sometimes, the theme becomes from black to gray, yet the themes service seems to work (on the services window). when restarting the service, it becomes black again.
2.sometimes, the language toolbar becomes floating instead of staying on the system tray. sometimes it just disappears, and sometimes it cannot switch to my second language.
3.from some reason, some programs that ran before cannot run anymore. an example of such a program would be crystal player (free/pro edition).
4.sometimes IE8 freezes and doesn't even allow me to close the frozen tab.
5.sometimes, the WIFI connection disconnects, and then it keeps failing re-connecting till i do an OS-restart.
since i have all of those problems, i wish to know if i can fix them, or maybe if i can re-install the OS (or just the SP) itself so that it might fix them. the laptop is HP Compaq presario F700US.everything is updated ,original,and legal. sadly , the computer didn't have the OEM disk of vista. instead, HP told me they have it inside a hidden partition (D) . however, i wish to know if re-installing the OS would delete some important documents and other stuff that I've had over time.
Transparent Taskbar & Toolbar
Aug 1, 2008I was just learning how to boot in a safe mode and now, the taskbar and the toolbar are transparent. Also, the background of every site is white. How do I set everything back to normal.

Sep 18, 2008For toolbars started in the Vista taskbar, how do you remove the Title? The option doesn't seem to exist any longer.
i.e. under older windows you could:
If you add one or two toolbars to your Windows taskbar, regain some space. Right-click on your created taskbar and on the popup menu that appears, uncheck "Show Title." This removes the title description for your taskbar. If you know the programs on the taskbar by their icon and don't need to see the names of the programs, uncheck "Show Text" as well.
Does this no longer exist in Vista and that I can no longer reclaim the space?
Hdd Shows Up Folder Empty: Vistas Disk Manger Shows File
May 23, 2009My buddy was bringing over some files for me on his laptop hdd running xp. I plugged it into my vista x64 computer via usb and I am having a few issues. The hdd shows up in My Computer and shows stuff in it but when I open it, it says that the folder is empty. I whent to Vistas disk manager and it shows everything is fine with the hdd but for some reason the files just wont show up.

I have a nice, new, big 19" and I find the useless and extravagant space requirements for the "Ribbon" (who came up with that one, anyway?) EXTREMELY ANNOYING..............

May 23, 2009When either right clicking or dragging icons on my desktop every icon disappears along with all toolbars and just left with desktop wallpaper, the only option is to re-boot. I believe it may be a problem with Windows Explorer.

Delay Accessing Toolbars Or Start
Jan 14, 2010The system is a vista x64, Dell machine with Vista pre-installed. I had trouble and had to re-install the Vista from their supplied disk. The system appears to boot up and run normally, EXCEPT that most of the time when I move the cursor over the taskbar none of the items will highlight and cannot be accessed. This can take up to 10 seconds or so of waiting for them to activate. It happens about 75% of the time that I try to activate something fro the taskbar. This involves the entire taskbar including quickstart, start and any active programs. If I hit the "CTL-ALT-DLT" and cancel it becomes active immediately.

When I installed the Google Toolbar, it showed up at the installment, but then when I relaunched IE 8 Google toolbar was not there. It also was not in the "Add Ons". But was in my Programs. I uninstalled and reinstalled two more times and it will not show up in IE 8. I had MSN as my home page , so I had to change the home page to Google in order to have my mail. I have gmail. Mar 15, 2009I have had my new Dell Studio XPS for less than a week. I love it, it is tons faster than my previous computer with a WEI of 5.9. However, today I was wasting time playing Sid Meiers Railroads and the game crashed. After the crash the bar at the top of my computer screen was missing. It was like this tool/task bar(this one isn't specifically mine): It has Categories and the recycle bin in it. Can someone explain how I can get the toolbar back. Mar 9, 2010I can do a ctrl+alt+delete and bring up the task manager and kill the process BUT my desktop has lost the task bar and starting orb. Moving the mouse top or bottom or to either side does not 'unhide' the toolbar so that I can access my USB drive with rkill.com (a process to kill this malware) on it. Have tried booting into Safe Mode and the viral program appears there also, but once again cannot access the Start Orb or Task bar. I have no knowledge of any 'DOS' commands should I be able to go to safe mode with cmd prompt. Using Vista Home Premium.

Oct 21, 2009I have recently bought a new computer from acer with vista and it came with a posiblility to upgrade to win7 (http://www.acer.com/windows7upgrade), but i have a slight problem.
I need to specify which language vista is installed inn or it won't work, i figured it would be norwegian (as i am from norway), but allmost all the menus are in english as well as everything in the start menu ("Computer" instead of "Datamaskin" etc...).
I was wondering if there is an easy way to figure out which language the OS is installed in.

Mar 23, 2008I live in Spain and bought my wife a laptop. She is having trouble with the language and wants to change it to English, I am a bit annoyed at having to buy an English copy of Vista. Especially after watching an MS promotion video of how they are working to cover the need of using multiple languages, why the step back in Vista then ? It is an Acer laptop and also has programs pre-loaded and a backup restore installed etc. If I buy the English vista, do I have to do a clean install to get English Vista on, or just load it as a repair, and will it need re-activating etc ? If it does need a clean install then I will lose everything that has been pre-installed and and will be an expensive experience.

Feb 25, 2007I have added a directory to the toolbar as you can see from image one. Now i can re-organise them such as in image 2, but as soon as i restart, the files sort to alphabetical. I've been using Vista since the public beta's and not experienced the problem until i just reinstalled last week.

It's not a huge problem, but i found it very annoying when i am working and need to bring up something quickly while the screen is filled with 100 windows.

I now run AVG free edition, and Windows firewall. I also now use Firefox browser, and am happy with my set up. I don't really like internet explorer, so don't use it. Unable To Look At Certain Aspects Of Toolbar
Jun 7, 2008i have been unable to look at certain aspects of my toolbar. everytime i pass over my clock, battery meter or network status bar and try to preview them, windows explorer shuts down and has to restart. ive run numerous system restores and they all have failed, as well as security sweeps and nothing seems to be able to find the problem.
