my daughter made a wonderful digital camera video called 'i'm soooo bored' and posted it on Internet. to save hard disc space, after we had downloaded it on to Internet, i deleted the file, like a twit, from my hard drive! now she's gone and deleted her Internet account and i want to restore the deleted movie. is it too late? how do i find it if it can be restored?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAll my restore points are getting deleted on every re-boot, accompanied by volsnap event ID 25 "The shadow copies... were deleted because the shadow copy storage could not grow in time." I have seen a few mentions of this problem elsewhere, but no fix. I have tried turning system restore on and off, with no effect. Restore points are created with no problems, but invariably deleted at the next boot.
System is a rather odd dual-boot of Vista HP with XP: an Acer Aspire, which runs XP on a hidden partition exclusively to run Acer's own Arcade media application in an "instant-on" mode: on exiting this application, XP hibernates, then resumes when a special hotkey is pressed (as far as I can see it never reboots XP). But the Vista restore point deletions happen whether or not XP is actually run. So I can't apply any of the usual fixes. fix and/or explain why this might, after all, be a symptom of the dual-boot problem even though XP is not actually running?

Both the one that launches a restore point creation once a day and the one that creates a restore point at system startup. Is there a guide on how to recreate the triggers. I fooled around with it. The very first thing I tried to do was a system restore but that failed for some reason.

Since I have no need to have all my desktop shortcuts messing up the arrangement of my fave webpages so I went ahead and deleted it. Warning bells should have gone off in me head when File Operations was asking for permission but I persisted. And now all the files that I have kept on my desktop are gone i.e. pics, pdf, resumes!! I have checked the Recycle Bin but they are not there either. I tried using a software that downloaded online -> WinUndelete but it made me more confused.

All the clips used in the movie are .avi, it is 41 clips in total and the movie length is 2 min 33 sec. When I try to publish the publishing process starts but then cancels and gives me this message: "Windows Movie Maker cannot publish the movie to the specified location. Verify, that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the publishing location is still available, that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again." Checked all that and that is not the problem! could not find any solutions in the other threads for WMM.

I have created a movie with Movie Maker, and when i try to publish the movie with the default settings, its giving an error message: "Movie Maker can not publish the movie. The source files may not be available, or the disk space is not enouth...". I have my source files in the same path, 50GB of free disk space is there. But its not publishing the movie. But, if i select the third option the select bit rate window ie.AVI-DV in the dropdown list, the publishing is successfull. But the .AVI file created is huge in size. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with movie maker, and why it is not able to publish the movie with default settings.

When my laptap was new and when I used it after re-formatting my hard drive. On all occassions after those two instances I can never restore back to any restore point. It always says that "unspecified error" line. If Microsoft doesn't know what happend, how could I. Why did they bother putting system restore if it doesn't work all the time anyway. It gives you a false sense of security.

Now, when I delete an email from my "Inbox," it does NOT appear in my "Deleted Items" folder. It just seems to disappear. I did read many of the earlier posts and have tried the suggestions. I've gone to Tools>Options>Advanced>Maintenance - the "Empty messages from the Deleted Items folder on exit" is NOT checked. After installing SP2, on 5/25, System Restore seems to have stopped creating automatic restore points every 24 hours. I checked the Task Manger and it is set for 24 hours. It shows a restore point being created on 5/26. System Restore shows the last Restore Point being created on 5/25 about 1 hour after downloading.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a recent problem installing Windows updates on Vista Ultimate as the update process stays on 'creating restore point' forever. I've let it run as long as 7 hours in this state, with no change. It looks like the system is unable to make a restore point sucessfully. I know it has worked in the past, as I'm fairly up-to-date on Windows updates. Reading some other threads, I've tried using Disk Clean-up to remove all by the most recent restore points, and then try to disable/re-enable system restore - this part without success. When I check the system properties for System Restore, the System Restore button is greyed out. I've attached a screenshot of the screen for reference. I've checked the group policies to verify the System Restore is not disabled there.

That little window disappeared but then nothing hasppened. I was expecting to see a list of possible restore points but nothing showed on my screen. As it is restoring Norton sees the virus and removes it from my system but Norton can not see the virus inside the restore files. Right now my system is fine (virus wise) but I need to restore from an earlier restore point because I deleted some files and now my cd/dvd drive is not recognized. But like I said, I can not restore do to the fact that I have a virus buried inside my restore files. I could care less about the virus in the restore files, my main goal is to get my cd/dvd drive working again so I can install my business software.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe mystery, at least to me, my PC was running almost 2 years. and it was not until about 3 weeks ago that System Restore began to save Restore Points the size of Approx 3 to 4GB daily. Prior to that the Restore Points were well under 1GB. it would be 3 to 6 days before I noticed the loss of 1GB. So why suddenly would the Restore File grew 1 one day from well under 1GB to between 3 to 4GB? That now is the issue I would like to know the answer to. and perhaps that file being saved with each Restore Point is not needed. I mean it wasn't needed for almost 2 years. so I can't think over night it became important but it sure is eating up HDD space.

I created a 5min + video within movie maker, published it and have been in since. All of a sudden i now go into movie maker and open the project and it won't play/preview the movie. Any ideas? the machine doesn't even try to play, the button to play is pressed but the movie doesn't start. individual clips that are in the project window play.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I publish my movie (to a DVD or my computer), the red tones (specifically skin tones) tend to be over saturated. The people in the pictures look like they're sunburned. I originally created the movie on my old computer using version 2.1 (XP) and never had this problem. When I got my new computer over the weekend and opened up the movie in version 6.0 (Vista) the pictures also looked fine. However, when I publish it only the red tones look over saturated.
