i own a PC where Windows Vista was originally installed on it, but the XP OS
was installed over it. I want to reinstall Vista. The issue is that when i purchased the machine in never received a systems disk so all i have is the product key sticker that's located underneath the PC it's self. How can i go about reinstalling the Vista OS without purchasing a whole new one?
I have a Vista Premium PC where I installed a trial version of a program,let it expire and now I bought the full version but cannot seem to get it to install since the ghost of the old trial version seems to be haunting my PC. Before I start formatting the drive (and lose all my other programs and settings) and attempt to reinstall Vista, I was wondering whether there was some easy way to wipe all traces of the trial program? I am no great tech expert, so protracted brain surgery with registry settings may not be an option for me!

My installation of Vista SP1 has started to act funkier than usual and I want to start fresh. I have good disk image using True Image, I don't have system disks--just the recovery partition in my Toshiba laptop.I am not completlely sure I have all my installation disks for the many applications I have installed What is the most efficient way to reinstall Vista without losing drivers, applications or configuration information?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I ordered my new case a couple of weeks ago, I also ordered an Accelero S1 Rev2 Twin Turbo to put on my 4850. Today I decided to actually get around to installing it. When I opened the packaging and closely inspected the cooler, I discovered that the copper was dull and dirty, some of the fins were slightly scratched and dented and that there were scratch marks around the screw position adjustment area. I can only believe that I have received someone else's refurbished RMA job, since the packaging itself was brand new and that the factory applied TIM looks factory fresh and unused. It's not a show stopper, but I am a little pi*sed that it's not 'brand new'. I'm just curious if anyone else has received possible RMA products that they in good faith thought they were new and unused when purchased?

My only problem is that both setups will be using a raid 0 array for the installation and I don't know if I will be able to boot off the old disks with the new hardware. My old PC was a nForce 4 based AMD rig and my new one is a P35 based Intel rig. Is there a way that I can install the drivers for the new raid array prior to booting with it?

I have to reinstall as a virus has caused my windows explorer to malfunction and it also installed a trojan which stole my key.I have tried a couple of ASUS raid drivers via a usb hard disk with no luck. We can't find any appropriate hitachi drivers.I think this is related to the hard disk controller?

According to Dell, installing/re-installing Vista will erase any existing files (gee, why couldn't they have configured Vista like XP which would save your data?).So as not to loose my files, my plan is to install a new primary hard drive. And once the new drive is functioning properly, to add the old one as a data only secondary drive (The drive hasn't failed, it's just inaccessable due to a user logon password issue which I'm working in another thread). Does anyone see a problem with reading the data files/folders on the old drive? Will the existance of an operating system be a problem? I'm hoping the drive will act as a ghosted drive, and the answer will be no.

Well, one of the first things he did to my laptop when I got it, was get rid Aero. At first I didn't mind, but now I want it back. And I mean its gone. When I go into "Window Color and Appearance" it doesn't even have the Aero option listed anymore.
I was until recently using the XP64 driver by disabling signed drivers. This has been workign for months but since the latest wave of updates from windows-update the drivers stopped working. I tried reinstalling but to no avail. I got on this forum and was looking for a solution since i LIVE off this thing for WOW (Really ui cant play without it anymore) but there was nothing new. View 9 Replies View RelatedI currently have vista installed of course on my C: drive, but I want to reinstall to a partitioned drive at the moment it is called I: drive (reason a lot more space on I than is on C).
So I figure a clean install onto the current I: drive.
Now this is where I need help, I do not want two versions of vista on the same PC, I am guessing vista will remain on the current C: drive there by creating a dual boot?
So how would I go about deleting the current vista installed, and put it on my I: drive?
What would happen if I was to format the current C: drive, have my disk there at the ready, would that work?
Im going to REFORMAT/REINSTALL my OS. vista home basic...i have the original dvd that came with my system.. My question is this.... upon installing vista, all the other cds that came with it, i have a roxio creator & mydvd cd 9.0 DE. cd says on it, install this cd, (PROGRAM)... also a dell drivers and utilities that is already installed on my computer and this dvd is for reinstalling dell inspiron comp software, and an application thats already installed on my comp, for reinstalling cyberlink powerdvd 7.0 software.. so besides using my OS 32 bit reinstallation dvd, vista, am i supposed to also reinstall the stuff on the dvds i mentioned above?

How can he reinstall Vista on his machine without having to purchase Vista? His computer came with Vista, so it seems like he should be able to get it somehow. Hello from France. Here is my problem of the day... I just put a new, 160 Go hard disk in my Dell Inspiron laptop. Then, following Dell's instructions as found on a flyer that came with the machine, this is what I did :
1. install Dell's "For Reinstalling Dell Media Direct 3" DVD
2. install Vista
3. finish with "For Reinstalling Dell Media Direct 3"
At stage 2 I choose to have C: at 50 Go, leaving the rest to D: Once Vista was installed, I found that D: had yet to be formatted, which I did. Now, as I take a look at the system, I find that there are in fact 4 volumes: - one is 47 Mo -"Type :" basic -"Statut :" Sound (Configuration EISA) ; this one can't be touched
- second is 2,01 Go - "Type :" basic - "Statut :" Sound (Principal partition) ;
this one can be deleted.......
I inserted the media direct cd for vista like the web site said to do I could see the recovery directory, the c drive and the media drive. it asked me to put in how much space i wanted for the c: so i put in 137 like it said. so now the recovery drive is gone. I put the reinstall dvd in and it says it is copying windows then extending files and then installing files then it goes to the completing installation and then it takes over 2 hours.
when it restarts it has an arrow on the screen and it stops there. on the web site it says it is to come up with a user name and password page but we never see that part. Any idea's what i need to do? If I put a windows xp cd in it got to the install screen and when I click enter so it will find a previous version and ask to format the computer halts so it doesn’t damage the drive.
I've basically screwed up documents and important stuff so i need help reinstalling vista from the dvd, Formatting the hard drive and other things. My M/B is a ga-p35-ds3l and i cant use my keyboard if the shut down is forced it auto chooses.

I tried uninstalling Office 2007, but I get the message: "Setup could not find any available products to install. Please contact your system administrator." If I try to reinstall using the original disc, I get the message: "Setup has stopped working." I've tried to follow the instructions at 'How to uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature' (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/en-us) for uninstalling without using the add/remove program, but I am unable to go to any "choose details" menu on the view tab ... it doesn't exist, so I can't continue the instructions from there. I don't have a second drive to try installing the disc from there. The disc is brand-new, not dirty or damaged. I've defragged the computer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed 7 earlier and when I rebooted to go back to vista it said recovery partition not found, so I decided to log back into windows 7 and it was corrupt so I was like no big deal I will use recovery discs to log back in, nope it didn't work. I started this at 11am this morning 9 hours ago and I am back online but using windows 7. Vista kept getting stuck at not being able to find recovery partition and wouldn't get past it. I am using the recovery discs I create on my HP m9350f and I am stuck. Now my question is if I have an OEM version of Home Premium 64 bit can I reinstall vista when this beta expires? Can I install it as a dual boot with 7 being installed first and not loose anything when beta expires?

I have a HP dv6500, with an Nvidia GeForce 7300. I've tried to get the driver from Nvidia, but it says that I have no hardware which can use this driver. When going to my Hardware Manager, it calls my graph card a Standard VGA card. This totally keeps me from installing games, video editing software or even watching videos: I always get the message that my graph card cannot accelerate.
Last year I bought the 64bit Upgrade version of Vista Ultimate. my mission critical software was incompatible with Vista and I had to downgrade back to XP. I anticipate that the vendor will release a version compatible with 64bit Vista in the next year. But by then I will probably build a new system. My question: With a new XP license on a new system can I then use that "Upgrade" version of Vista that I never used or am I forced to buy a new licensed copy of Vista?
