View 5 Replies64-bit Vista Home Premium. I just tried to view the contents of the Vista clipboard and discovered that I couldn't do it. I did some research and read that a few people got around this by copying clipbrd.exe from their XP system and dropping it into Vista's system32 folder, but there were apparently issues in so doing. Is there any way I can view the clipboard contents?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running Vista x64, installed maybe 2 years ago.It seems to be running fine except I can no longer use the cut/copy/paste functionality.I ran sfc /verifyonly and Vista says nothing is wrong. To test,I open Notepad and type in a word.I highlight and right-click on the word and select "cut" but nothing happens (no errors, either).CTRL-X also does nothing.I can select "copy" but it's hard to say if that's working or not (probably not, if "cut" isn't working). With nothing in the clipboard, "paste" is grayed out and is not selectable. In Excel,I get the "cannot empty the clipboard" error, but forum posts seem to indicate that is an Excel weirdness and not particularly Windows-related.Here's a really weird thing:I can still use cut/copy/paste without issues in a MS Virtual PC instance. No problems there. It's running on the same machine.I rebooted and it worked again for a bit.Now it's not working again.
View 4 Replies View RelatedUser of Windows Mail client. I have set up HTML format for e-mails but I can't insert image from clipboard directly into the body of message. Why when MS Outlook this supports? I know that Thunderbird doesn't allow it as well but WinMail is he "Microsoft" product isn't it? If I receive a message with images attached than all of this are showed inside the body automatically. Why? I'm used to open it manually from attachment.

View 7 Replies View Relatedi've always used "alt-prntscrn" and "ctrl-V" to copy images into excel worksheets. With vista, I can't. I've also tried pasting into Paint and saving THAT file(in both jpeg and bmp formats), then copying THAT into excel. Doesn't work. I HAVE to use print screen- the program I'm using has absolutely NO WAY to save/copy/export the image I'm analyzing.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSince I have moved from Outlook Express to VISTA Windows Mail whenever I try to past from the clipboard into an e-mail I am composing it automatically changes any foriegn language fonts characters to all English characters. I would then have to highlight each foriegn language phrase and then select the language font from the font menu. I should not have to do this if Window Mail would retain the original fonts from the clipboard or other document program I am pasting from. How can I
resolve this problem.
I have been looking for a better screenshot device/program, and I came upon this SnagIt8. My problem is after capturing the image and pasting it to a wordpad or equivalent, I couldn't find a way to copy/paste to a post like this one. The Paste was always grayed out when I tried to paste it here. Either that, or I would have an empty box with a red X at the top. I can't use the paperclip icon either, because people who clicked the link would be asked to join something before they could see the screenshot.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Mobipocket Reader 6.2 (www.mobipocket.com) installed on Vista Business. In Tools, Settings, Advanced I have eBooks and eNews library location set to C:Program FilesMobipocket.comMobipocket ReaderLibrary, and I have downloaded My Bookshelf contents there. I can't see this folder or its contents in Windows Explorer, and I can't cd to it or dir its contents in command prompt running as administrator, but yet all of the eBooks that I have downloaded to this location are working normally. What is happening? I'd like to manually back up these files to a cd. How do I do that?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn Windows XP, I could search for a word in some text files. How can I do that in Vista?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIt just doesn't work.
I have a simple text file with a certain word in it.
I try to find this text file, but vista won't find it.
Windows 2000 finds it within a second.
I have tried all available options.
"include non-indexed"
"always search file names and contents"
"find partial matches"
"include subfolders"
etc
etc
It just doesn't work.
Why is there not a simple search function that actually works like in
windows2000?
when I try to download anything to my computer, I get this message: C:UsersCraftApp DataLocalTemp and it also says that it could not be saved because you (me) cannot change the contents. (I am the admin on my computer, so why can't change it?)
I also want to know what program can permanently get rid of programs after I already uninstalled them, because they seem to be leaving a trail behind on my computer and I think that is what is causing this message. Also, If you can tell me what program there is for windows vista home premium SP2 64-bit.
Does Windows Vista new search engine search within files contents. I have many Word files .doc on an external hard drive that is indexed for search. I would like to find files containing certain words. Don't understand "contents" search option.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a new PC with Vista and MS Mail. The old PC was XP with Outlook Express. Are there any special considerations in moving everything over from OE to MS Mail? Or is it the same as it would be when copying to OE on a different PC? I'm concerned with messages/folders, contacts, and rules.
View 6 Replies View RelatedVista booted to the Desktop OK despite the new MoBo having a totally different chipset etc. However one problem niggles, if a CD/DVD is inserted any attempt at accessing the contents in Explorer locks up the system and I loose the Desktop, even Cntr+Alt+Delete doesn't work. On first boot Vista wanted me to activate due to the new hardware config so I did, with hindsight maybe I would have been better off doing a repair install, as I am now concerned a repair install will require activation this could be a problem with Microsoft maybe?. I have tried uninstalling DVD drive, IDE/SATA controllers and tested the DVD drive in another machine
View 8 Replies View RelatedUsing Windows Mail which was working fine this morning. Installed the recommended MS updates this afternoon, WM started running very slowly (taking 3-5 seconds to change message when clicked) now every e-mail and newsgroup message shows name and subject, but the content is completely blank. I can open them up, and the content is stored as an attachment, eg AT000223.html AT000223.txt, which I then have to save (if I click either attachment, I get "file not found" error), then I can open it up and read the mail. I have read and tried the fixes where I changed the "read messages in plain text" option, and the encoding options, still the same. I've done the maintenance on the folders, I've also emptied the temporary Internet files as a forum, still nothing.
View 4 Replies View Relatedafter shrinking the D: partition, the drive letters and actual partition sequence on the drive changed - the C: (Vista) partition has switched places with the D: (Recovery) partition in Disk Management (D: is now in front of C I first defragged the D: drive using JKDefrag and used its built in feature to move all the files to the end of that partition, so that after splitting D:, the blank portion would be next to the C: partition (so I could have it merge with C: ) how do I get the partitions back to their normal positions (in Disk Mgmt)? and if I delete the D: partition, will it merges with C: and keep my Vista install harmed?
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor some reason Vista now does not show any previews of pictures; pictures saved on my desktop are now only shown as icons and not the picture, same goes for every folder in the computer and for video files as well.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from an XP machine to a Vista machine (yes, I am an old newbie). I retained most of my programs. However, they do not behave the same. In particular, under XP if I did a Ctrl-Click on a link (e.g., table of contents page in MS Word) I would be moved to the link target.
However, under Vista I get the message "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effecxt on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." Since I am the system administrator, and only user, on this machine, this doesn't he;[ much. I assume it has something to do with some security setting in Vista but have been unable to figure out where or how to "fix" it.
what the recovery disc that keeps filling up on my new dell vista is for? when i try to access its contents it appears empty.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am not sure what is going on, but I think it may be an over-aggressive registry cleaner. I am running Vista Ultimate 64 and every time I get an open file dialog box, and try to open the menu at the top of it to select the way I want to view the folder contents (List, Details, Thumbnails, etc.) the button stays depressed and after a few seconds I get the Server Busy... Switch To | Retry | Cancel... dialog. The Cancel button is always grayed out. The list always comes up eventually, after several hundred Retry clicks... If I do not move the mouse I do not get the Server Busy dialog, but it takes 30-45 seconds for the list to appear. After that everything works fine. I am running Vista Ultimate 64-bit on an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+ @ 2.6GHz with 3GB RAM and an nVidia GTS8600.
