Pop Up: Need To Activate Windows And Change Cd Key

Mar 20, 2009

I am running two computers, both with vista ultimate. I installed/finished the 32 bit version just last week, and now i keep getting a pop up telling me I need to activate windows and change my cd key. I originally bought ultimate a year ago. how ever I do not want to go out and spend another 300$. the windows website tells me I can buy another key ( I assume for less) but everytime I plug in my CD key, I am told that the copy of windows i have is a server copy.

Could Not Activate Windows

Mar 23, 2008

Alright I bought a Toshiba Satellite A100/A105 Laptop. Well when I bought it, I tryed to get Windows onto my Laptop and did. But then I had to Defrag my whole Computer and the little sticker that was on the bottom of my Laptop with the Windows Info came off and then my Mother cleaned my room and she threw away the sticker. So I could not Activate windows.

1. is there a way to Activate windows without the Product Key? I have the Receipt when I bought the Laptop, and the box it came in and all the papers as well.

or

2. Get a new Product key without spending another $100 USD For Windows Again.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate. Every time I turn on my computer, little pop up windows tell me to set a password as a way to activate Parental Controls. HOWEVER, I do not need Parental Controls - I am the only user of the computer and I have not activated the Guest Account or created any other user account. And I do not want to give a password to myself? How can I stop these annoying pop up windows from popping up EVERY time I turn on my computer?

Windows Has Failed Activate Error Code "0x80070426"

Oct 15, 2009

hoping some of you technical wizards can help me on this! Right i have Vista 32bit running on my Acer, Had it about 1 year now. Every so often it performs crash dumps ( a little more often then it should do actually) Last friday night it did a crash dump, then when restarting it just wouldnt....It kept showing a blank screen for about 30 minutes. then it would go to Windows Start-up repair, and just go on and on for about another 30 minutes, then tell me it couldnt find anything wrong.

I tried Loading in safe mode, with command prompt and networking help but it judt did exactly the same. I ran the memory diagnostic and found no problems. So then i restored the system to before a Windows update on the same day this all happened. Exactly the same kept happening, Some times i would get as far as logging on after about an hour of waiting. It would Log on and then just freeze. I restored to a few days before last friday and tried again, exactly the same kept happening. Then this morning it got to the log on screen. i tried logging on and it said something along the lines of 'Windows has failed to Activate. error code0x80070426' I havent got any back-ups on disk (stupid i know, i was actually going to do one before this happened) I havent got the operating system disk as the computer came pre-installed with Vista and had no Disk. I know i could probably restore the system to factory setting somehow, but i dont want to lose verything on there! There must be something i can do.

Re-install Not Activate

I had to reinstall Vista due to malware that I could not get off my computer. I could not do a repair, and now Vista is new on my system. The problem is that I now cannot activate it, and I get a notice that says that I need to enter a new number. I do not think that I need to, but I don't know how to reactivate. I called Microsoft, but the person (honestly) hung up on me.

Never Re-Activate After Installation. if you have to reinstall Windows XP you normally will have to reactivate too. Well not anymore. Just copy wpa.dbl after you activated the first time. It is located in the WINDOWSsystem32 folder. Now if you reinstall Windows XP just copy the file back and you're up and running again.

Cannot Activate Ultimate On New Machine

Mar 23, 2008

I was using my purchased Vista Ultimate just fine on my first PC. But I just upgraded the motherboard and pretty much everything else. Now it's a new PC. So I took my Vista install CD, installed it on my new machine. Now I can't activate it. It won't let me saying it's already been activated. I recall someone told me that Vista activation is tied to the initial hardware you install it on. Is this really the case? If so, there has to be a resolution to this as Microsoft can't be that stupid to restrict you like this. I mean how am I supposed to upgrade my fing PC!? What do I do? I don't want to spend $60 on a support ticket. I tried to put in my PID which also now it's saying has expired!

Start > Run > msconfig > Permit Folder "Services" uncheck the "Software Licensing Service" uncheck the "SL UI Notification Service" Apply Close Restart Your machine will then tell you, this machine is unlicensed.
