first enable the"Run" button in the start menu in the "Taskbar Properties" here's a work around to Activate Vista Build 5219,5231,5270,5308,(or earlier)and later maybe.. Start > Run > msconfig > Permit Folder "Services" uncheck the "Software Licensing Service" uncheck the "SL UI Notification Service" Apply Close Restart Your machine will then tell you, this machine is unlicensed.

I get this message in the Problem Reports and Solutions window: The problem was caused by Windows Vista, which was created by Microsoft Corporation. You are running a beta version of Windows Vista, which is no longer supported by Microsoft Corporation. I've clicked on the website to upgrade which is what it tells me to do but it just takes me to a page to buy an upgrade - is this right?

Recently some default security policies has been changed on my Vista, apparently as the result of upgrades to my system.
1: I can no longer activate an URL received in an incoming email directly but must copy the URL to the address bar in my Internet Explorer. This makes sense and I can live with that.
2: I discover that I can no longer open some of my word documents "created in an earlier version of Microsoft Office". The message refers to registry policy settings and the help system refers to a Microsoft knowledge base article 922850 that leads me nowhere useful.

Run Winver At Command Prompt And If You See The Following Next 2 The Build 6001 Number: V., Whereas V. = A 3 Digit Beta Build Number, Then You Are Running A Beta Version Of Windows Vista Service Pack One, Just FYI. If There Is No V. Next 2 The Build 6001, Then You Are Running Windows Vista SP1 RTM (RTM = Which Stands 4 Release To Manufacturing = Gold Or Final Release).

In article "Notable Changes in Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Release Candidate" found at, there is the following paragraph: GPMC (Group Policy Management Console) will be uninstalled with Service Pack 1 and GPEdit will default to Local Group Policy editing. Following these changes, SP1 users can download an updated version of GPMC which will include new Group Policy capabilities including adding comments to GPOs or individual settings and searching for specific Group Policy settings. The above clearly implies that an updated version of GPMC is available for download. but I can't find it anywhere. Where is it?

Download Vista SP2 Beta via Windows UpdateWritten by Ryan October 30th, 2008
If you like to stay on the bleeding edge of technology (and you’re running Vista) you may want to consider modifying two registry keys on your system so that you can participate in the Vista SP2 Beta program. To join the program all you have to do is download this batch file, and run it on your Vista machine as an administrator (right click - Run as administrator). Then just check for available Windows Updates (it may take 30 minutes or so for it to show up in the Windows Updates).
Think carefully whether you want to do this or not. There will likely be some bugs that could cause problems with your system, but at the very least it will cause Vista to expire on 4/2/2010 (or around then). Plus it will place the “Evaluation copy” message on your desktop wallpaper. You can always uninstall Vista SP2 to remove the evaluation message and expiration date, but it’s important to know what you’re getting into before you try to install it.
So what’s new in Vista SP2? Here’s a brief rundown that the Vista blog provided last week:Windows Vista SP2 adds Windows Search 4.0 for faster and improved relevancy in searches. Windows Vista SP2 contains the Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack supporting the most recent specification for Bluetooth Technology. Ability to record data on to Blu-Ray media natively in Windows Vista. Adds Windows Connect Now (WCN) to simplify Wi-Fi Configuration. Windows Vista SP2 enables the exFAT file system to support UTC timestamps, which allows correct file synchronization across time zones. Windows Vista SP2 is expected to be released in final form sometime in the first half of 2009. Judging by the expiration date of Vista SP2 Beta I’d say that sounds about right.

Anyway, my problem is that whenever I start IE7 Beta2 for Vista (5384.4) it acts normal but whenever I go to type in an address or go to the tools or anything else it will freeze and I have to close it via Task Manager. When I first Vista Beta 2 IE7 worked fine for the first few days, but then it randomly started acting strange, i didn't install any other software. Also, i tried to uninstall or re-install but I can't find a download for the Vista version of IE7 Beta or a way to uninstall it, and the XP Version won't work, even in XP compatability mode. Is anyone else having similiar issues or know how to resolve this issue?

I've looked around at the various settings for the forums and I can't seem to find an answer. I am using FireFox 3 Beta 2 on Vista Ultimate x64. When reading various posts or navigating around various areas of Vistx64.com, there is a preview of posts by the mouse cursor. Usually when in a forum, the preview is of the previous or next post. This is really annoying as the preview covers up the text of the post I am reading. Is there any way to shut off the preview in the UserCP that I haven't found yet?

I have a problem with a new installation of Windows Vista beta 2 build 5384 x64. After the installation the PC booted in normal mode, but I see only a blank screen without any cursor or information. I am able to boot into safe mode (I managed to install the nVidia 88.61 from there) and log on, but when I reboot into normal mode I can't see anything appearing on screen. I also tried to manually update the driver from the Device Manager in safe mode and nothing. I tried even to boot in "Allow unsafe drivers to load" but no gain.

Got my motion eye working under Win7 64x. Link below for the drivers. I have the Vaio SZ650n/c, and all but a few keyboard hotkeys are working. The volume hotkeys work by default with win7. (maybe in hardware) Brightness is available by right-clicking the battery indicator (by clock) or by running "windows mobility center". For my SZ650, I had to install the SFEP and SPIC drivers to clear device manager. I could not find hot key drivers in 64x.

I have installed the latest version of windows live mesenger beta a couples of days ago and i found that the web cam became blur when im having video chat with my friends. So i uninstalled it from control panel and choose the uninstall program. I have checked qll the box including the messenger, movie maker, silver light etc. When i try to install the older version fo the msn it didnt allow me to do so & said that i have the newer version with me. So i repeat the uninstallation process from control panel a few times and it still the same then i get mad & deleted the whole windows essentilas from my laptop but i still cannot reinstall the windows live messenger (neither new nor old version).
