when i hit (like today) Yahoo and want to see how the baseball bat breaks, the picture or movie is blocked because ActiveX is missing. When i allow it to be installed, i get the message from Adobe Flash Player that it will be installed, BUT nothing happens.

If I copy the file to a flash drive then look at it using Windows XP I can see it on a details view but not in Vista. I seem to lose the DATE more so if the file is greater than 2000KB
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been using Windows Movie Maker for several years. I do extensive video editing that includes sound fx, cuts, overlays, etc. On my previous laptop, running windows xp, I had no problems with the movie maker. When I purchased my new laptop that runs on windows vista home premium 32bit, I have problems with the editing.
Several things occur when I use sound fx. Some sound clips play fine during editing but when I publish to my computer I find that several of them are missing or not sounding. I also find that the clip changes as I work with it. It uploads from my camera with no problem but when I finish editing and publish it, there are several areas that play in short bursts of fast motion.
When I go to Nvidia.com to update my drivers, there is no way to update because when I click on the drivers tab all I get are blank options to choose from for selecting my video card and OS and what not. I found out that the ActiveX that makes that possible will not install it won't even pop-up. There are no boxes at the top of the screen to confirm and installation of anything. So I click on Option 2 from the the drivers selection page and all I get is an empty page saying that its scanning when in fact it is doing nothing at all. After I click on the link enough times it sends me to a page that still does nothing. No pop-up
Now to let everyone know I just installed Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit on a clean drive. I have a clean install of it and I was just trying to get drivers for everything and this problem happened. However Windows update did in fact install the correct drivers for the video card. Getting the drivers was not the problem here it is the fact that there was no POP-UP asking me to install the ActiveX needed for the Nvidia site to determine my system settings for it to find the correct driver for me. Is not having that ActiveX going to be a problem for later, or is it nothing to worry about?
When I visit some sites it shows that I need to download Adobe 9.0. I uninstalled the adobe 8.0 as instructed and attempted to download the Adobe 9.0 I get an ActiveX notice to allow or not allow so I click allow and it showed successful download, But when I go back to launch the website I again get the notice that I need to install Adobe 9.0.
I checked my programs file and Adobe 9.0 is NOT installed. How come it said I downloaded ok on the Adobe 9.0 site but it is not loaded?? I re-installed the Adobe 8.0 and it works just fine. I have uninstalled Adobe 8.0 and tried many times to get Adobe 9.0 to download and the same thing happens.

The tech informed me that because my system will not run ActiveX due to a corruption from the adware/virus that I needed to contact my vendor to do a system file scan and repair. What are my options at this point? Do I need to re-install or repair Vista? Will that correct the problem?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWith Protected Mode enabled, our signed plugins no longer operate as they should due to limitations on where they can write files, etc. Is there any way to get around this programmatically, without the user having to disable Protected Mode manually? I must admit that I appreciate Microsoft's continued efforts regarding security, but the entire point of having signed plugins was so that the user could explicitly grant trust to the plugin. Unsigned plugins were not allowed by default in IE6. I'm not sure who thought that was inadequate.

All the clips used in the movie are .avi, it is 41 clips in total and the movie length is 2 min 33 sec. When I try to publish the publishing process starts but then cancels and gives me this message: "Windows Movie Maker cannot publish the movie to the specified location. Verify, that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the publishing location is still available, that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again." Checked all that and that is not the problem! could not find any solutions in the other threads for WMM.

I have created a movie with Movie Maker, and when i try to publish the movie with the default settings, its giving an error message: "Movie Maker can not publish the movie. The source files may not be available, or the disk space is not enouth...". I have my source files in the same path, 50GB of free disk space is there. But its not publishing the movie. But, if i select the third option the select bit rate window ie.AVI-DV in the dropdown list, the publishing is successfull. But the .AVI file created is huge in size. My Son's computer was working yesterday and this morning he can't surf using IE 8 or Firefox. It appears Port 80 is being blocked. I have disabled the firewall temporarily and this did not resolve the issue. I did the "netsh winsock reset" and this did not fix the problem. I have reset my router with no change. I am able to ping the DNS, the Default router and his IP address within the command window. I can also ping yahoo.com, google.com within the command window, but can't reach them with either browser. He did not have System Restore enabled, so I can't use that as a solution. Can the group recommend some options for me to try? He is using Vista Home Premium, and a wireless card. I can also see ALL GREEN when I open up the Network Sharing tool. There is a green line between his IP and the Wireless Card and green line between the Wireless Card and the Internet.

The computer is only meant to play music when we have parties and such, so I have made a normal account, besides the administrator account, that people can use. I have blocked all programs except the music program. I'm forwarding some mail from my desktop using Outlook in XP to my laptop using Vista and 9 times out of 10 attachments aren't being received. They don't show as blocked or anything they're just not there. They are in the sent items on my desktop. I've turned off email scanning in Norton and changed the settings re reading, etc, in windows mail with absolutely no change.
