View 9 Repliessince a few days my cpu has always cpu load of about 90 % at core 2. Vista is very slow. Taskmanager shows no applications with cpu usage. Now i installed process explorer and i can see that 45% cpu usage (this is 90% of core 2) is for "System / hardware interrupts". Which interrupts are the problem, what can i do to fix this?

Converting files, burning CD's and DVD's and things like font management, etc. I use my computer for general use (documents, school papers, resumes, etc.) and for graphics for my web page profiles and creating web pages; and home management (budgets, etc.) Any trusted freeware libraries you're aware of?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIm using a HP Pavilion dv9700 notebook with vista 32bit OS installed. Note that when i did the following i was not connected to the internet: The problem only recently occured after i attempted ot remove Norton security centre from my computer. That uninstalled fine. I also installed tunup utilities 2009 and did a reboot. On reboot the Windows loading bar froze. This kept happening every time a did a restart. So i decided to do a system restore to resolve that problem. That resolved the freezing issue and i figured that i would have to remove internet security again and so tried to unistall it again only for it to say "The system cannot find the path specified." So Norton is now corrupt and i cant run it or uninstall it. But i decided to run registry scans and cleaned up the computer with Tuneup.
After i took the laptop back to where i can use the internet. I plugged in the Lan cable and tried to run firefox but it didnt connect. The only connection i can get is local only access. I live in University halls and i should be on the internet when i plug in the LAN cable. I have since tried a system restore to restore back to a couple of days ago but its no use. I still have the same problem. No internet and no chance of uninstalling Internet security for good. As my LAN network driver is Nvidia netwroking controller I can only assume that its the nvidia controller that is the problem. Even though windows claims there is nothing wrong with it. I have tried uninstalling the driver, but when i confirm it just closes the dialoge box and doesnt uninstall it at all. I cant rollback the driver as its not an option and although i downloaded an older version of the driver and installed it (it said that it installed?), it has no overrun the more up to date driver. I have been trying to fix this for around 6 hours now & its vital that i get back online with the computer as i have assignments due in for tuesday. (im using some one elses computer at the moment)
The Microsoft acquisition Sysinternals that is famous for their useful Windows utilities has a new site up that allows you to easily access any of their utilities for free over the internet in your command prompt. View 9 Replies View RelatedMy "ulstata.sys" driver got corrupted and had to completely rebuild the boot options. On doing that I am now back to the original SP2 Boot Screen and am not able to change it back to my custom image via TuneUp Utilities. I'm kind of guessing one of the "winload.exe.mui" file isn't allowing the change.
"C:WindowsSystem32Booten-US" has only "winresume.exe.mui" `whereas
"C:WindowsSystem32en-US" has both?
I've tried copying the loadfile in System32/en-US but it's not letting me paste in the System32/Boot/en-US due to some folder protectioin. although i've taken full control. Tuneup Utilities is ssaying it's applied the boot screen but vista is still loading the SP2 boot screen.
So far I tried 5 different delete utilities and nothing worked without a reboot! This Vista64 is a PITA when it comes to locked files. Anyone having any luck with an Unlocker clone that works in 64 bit?

View 7 Replies View RelatedAt idle, I have 50% cpu usage at times. It seems to be msiexec.exe. I have absolutely no idea why. Is this a normal Vista behaviour? Second, at startup I have 67 processes running, then it jumps to 72, then back down to 67. I had this amount on my XP pro machine, but had probably over 60 different programs installed, as it was a shared machine with CAD programs, graphic design software, etc. Now I only have vista, adobe cs3, blackberry, and office... And for my final question, Why does eSata not able to "hot-swap"? Is this normal as well (sorry, I've always used firewire for my external drives, but now I'm trying to use eSata)

However when I run the task manager, and clicking on "Show processs from all users", I can't see which process is responsible since none is consuming more than a few percent of the CPU.My computer is obviously very slow and I haven't installed any program yet.

I've just had my computer for a few days and I've noticed that the CPU usage meter is at 60% all the time now (even when it's sitting idle).. where it was usually less than 10%. The realiabilty and performance monitor shows that something alled "LOCAL MANAGEABILITY SERVICE" "LMS.exe" is continually using 50% of the CPU. What is this manageability service and why is it consuming 50% of my CPU power?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had Windows Vista Ultimate for a while, and recently I've been noticing that the pc is using a large amount of memory. While playing World of Warcraft, it sits on 1.5 GB of ram out of 2GB, and everything slows right down. I also have 1 Firefox window open, but I added up all the memory usage in the Task managers 'Processes' bar and it doesn't add up to that much. It also says I have 56 processes, only 23 of which show up in the processes panel. Im really not techincally minded, I just had hoped that when i first got this pc that 2GB of ram would not have been used up so easily.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to this forum and I think it's a really really useful forum. I have an HP HDX X18-1275 laptop which has two hard drives. The problem I have is that drive C usage is reported about 120GB but when I even show the hidden files and uncheck the check mark to protect system files (in Folder and Search Options), when I select all the files shown and right click and then select Properties, the reported size is only almost 46GB ..... (almost one third of the number reported when I right-click on the C drive itself and select Properties) ....... Anyone know the reason? Are there any files not being shown and responsible for this HUGE gap? By the way, the disk usage for drive D is accurate and there's almost no difference if I right-click on the drive and select Properties, or select all the files and folders in the drive and get their properties.

When I attempt to start windows security center, I get the error "The Security Service cannot be started" .Now according to several other hundred threads, I'm supposed to go to "Services" and change "Security Center" to automatic. The only problem is, Security Center is not under Services as thetrojan removed it.
To make matters worse, HP programmers thought it would be cool to not include a vista OS installation disk, but instead add a crappy program on the computer that would allow you to replace programs, but unfortunately it cannot repair my security center.

The failure happens at the instant the filepicker is taken into a subdirectory, but is unpredictable and not reproducible in a given subdirectory. I bought two of these the same day and one belongs to me and the other one is my daughters, however, hers was not doing this until recently. She says it has started doing it. Is anyone else having this problem? Is it Vista or the computer itself? I am really ready to get this thing fixed! Get more and more frequent and aggravating!
