Impossible To Save A User In Windows Home
May 26, 2008I have the following environment: 2 PC with Windows Vista Business, 1 2003 Server and 1 Laptop with Windows Vista Home Premiun. In Windows Home Premiun I try to enter to any of the other and password asks me, I am given it and I tell him to keep the password. If I close the session or I put out it, again asks me the credentials.
In User Accounts I try to add a user and a new password and in type of alone document appears myself activated the second option. ..One credential of website or programs and not the first one that is the one that interests me. How do I be able access the other PC without me ask the user password and save that user correctly?.

Feb 21, 2010I cannot open or save any attachment using windows Mail running Vista. I get an error message that says 'There was an error opening one or more of the attachment. Please check your free disk space and try again.' I have plenty of disk space. I have tried installing Windoes Live Mail, but I get the same message. I am using Microsoft anti-virus software. I was using AVG. I have read all the other remarks about this problem and have followed some of the suggestions but nothing helps. I have followed the help instructions as I wanted to change the font to another style, colour etc. However 'Help' tells you to format your signature in a WP package and save in html format. Easy, I thought! In Word 2007 when you try to Save As - the html option si not in the drop down menu. so i tried in Wordpad, no luck ther either. how I save to html in vista? I had no problems in W.XP. Wish I had not had to change!

Apr 12, 2009Like many others based on previous posts, am unable to open or save attachments in windows mail. I think my problem is exactly the same as "anhlyss" had in the posts in January. I am hoping there is an easier fix than restoring factory setting. As suggested in other threads, I have ensured that I have unchecked the "do not allow attachments to be opened" box in options.
If I click on the attachment to open it, the little hourglass pointer comes up, and then goes back to the arrow, but nothing else happens. If I try to save the attachment, I get this message: "There was an error saving one or more of your attachments, please check your free disk space and try again"

Mar 13, 2009Vista, Home Premium, Windows Mail all of a sudden the button to Save Attachments under the Paperclip is greyed out for images such as .jpg I can see the image numbers/names listed but all in grey. I can still save them by rightclicking them in the preview pane but for a mail containing many pics that is rather cumbersome.For other attachment such as movies, powerpoints etc. the Save Button is NOT greyed out and works fine for quick saving...

May 5, 2008when i press send / receive a windows security window opens asking for my user name and password but when i type them in it just clears and asks for user name and password again. I have checked the accounts and user name and password are correct, i have even tried changing the password but to no avail. If i press cancel an error message comes up saying invalid user name or password. I have had no problems with windows mail before on this computer and its nearly 10 months old running vista and norton 360.

Apr 27, 2008Having problems with Vista and am really dissappointed. One of the main problems I am having is with Windows Mail. Much less user friendly than Outlook Express. The main problems I am having are:
1) Missing several emails from others. I have a desktop computer set up with XP and outlook express which is receiving all of the emails without a problem, however, my laptop with vista and windows mail captures only some of these emails. Junk mail folders don't contain these emails either. Why are they not coming through?
2) Also, when I am in a file (Excel or Word) that I want to send to someone, I can't just right click on it / or go to file and then scroll down to "send file as an attachment". I have to manually save the file first, exit, then open windows mail, create a new message and then attach the saved file. Very frusterating to have to go through all these steps. Thought that Vista and Windows mail were supposed to be an upgrade?
3) Also, my saved contacts from Outlook Express are much more of a headache to manage. None of them will auto complete in the "Send to" line when sending a message. I have to go into the contacts folder every time and manually select each one. Again, upgrade?
4) Also having numerous Driver problems with various hardware. Finding simple solutions to vista hardware connectivity seems impossible.

Oct 16, 2009I'm trying to set up Windows Mail and Outlook 2007 to use an email box in a new website. I have two email boxes with different passwords on the same site. The first account in Windows Mail worked... but the second, set up the same way, will not. I get repeated Windows Security dialog boxes with "verify user name and password" until I cancel the dialog which returns the following error:

Server Response: '-ERR authorization failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
I'm using Vista 64-bit which has always been exceedingly careful about what programs it will allow to run... but the places to adjust that are obscure. Is the problem in Vista-64 security setting? Turning off the Norton Internet security makes no difference. If I import the one account that works in Windows Mail into Outlook 2007 (and check that all of the settings are correct) it doesn't work in Outlook. The same endless Security dialog occurs.
Can Save Desktop Do Not Permission Save Location
May 25, 2009Something has changed in my Home Premium system such that I can no longer save to the desktop! When I try, I get an error message stating " You don't have permission to save in this location." I do not recall changing ANY permissions to prevent this. I did have a problem installing Office Home 2007 and maybe that caused a change. Where do I need to go to set the permission back to allow me to save to the desktop?

Mar 23, 2008I have a problem opening email attachments. I have tried different attachments with no avail. It used to work and something has now stopped it. I even have problems saving the attachments. I can start the save process, but Window Mail locks up. But strange enough the file is saved to the correct location. If I try to save multiple attachments, only the first file is saved, than its locked up again. On a side note, during one of these crashes a email was corupted, I can no longer read it. I can also not delete it or move it to a new folder.

Jun 3, 2009New Dell computer running that crappy Windows Vista system. After editing any JPEG in Windows Photo Gallery, I get a pop up that "changes to this picture cannot be saved because Photo Gallery has experienced a problem".
These are regular JPEG's that are on my desktop. They are not locked or funny file names, or any of the other obvious problems. Anybody out there able to help a cpu novice on this one? Not Receiving Mail From One User Only
Mar 23, 2008Two weeks ago, email from my cousin in Ireland stopped being received (I am in the USA) for no apparent reason. She has checked/verified my address that she is sending to and it is correct. I have checked/verified that there are no blocks or filters turned on that should prevent her email from coming thru. I have even checked to make sure that her domain "ie" for Ireland is not blocked from my email. I had previously been receiving her email with no problems and had made no changes to my email program or computer.
I have gone to her email address, right clicked and scrolled to "junk mail", then clicked on "add user to safe sender's list" and also "add user's domain to safe sender's list". On the specific day I do that, her emails will come thru. Then the next day, they no longer come thru and continue to disappear. She receives no error messages, nor do I. I never receive the emails. We have verified this by calling each other on the phone so I know she is sending multiple emails daily that I do not receive. I have contacted Comcast, but no solution to date. Have been using McAfee firewall and Norton anti-virus. All of my other email seems to be coming thru fine, it is just the email from my cousin in Ireland that I have not been receiving.

May 2, 2009I just got a new laptop with Vista. I can not utilize the "Windows Mail" because it will not let me log on. I did the step by step setting up instructions. Now I get a window for my user ID and Password. I put it in, and it repeadeatly reappears. I am disappointed because one of the things I use a PC for most, is my E-mail. I loved my MSN mail with all the special features I had with it. I can not do ANY of what I did with hotmail. Does anyone know how I can get into windows mail, or how to get my MSN back!?.

Apr 7, 2008I kept getting an error message ("invalid user name or password") everytime I tried to enter in my user name and password to get access to my email with Windows Vista on my new computer. After an exhaustive effort to solve the problem with my ISP and with HP (including deactivating Windows Vista Firewall and shield and uninstalling my spy and virus software and then reinstalling Vista) I contacted Microsoft and paid a well spent $60 and they quickly resolved the problem. Here's what I had to do to make it work.
Open Mail, go to Tools, and then Accounts, click Add and created an E-mail account. (Type "POP3" in the field "My incoming mail server is a server." Under "Incoming mail (POP3):" type: pop.(your service provider), mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "pop.suddenlink.net." Under "Outgoing mail (SMTP):" type "smtp." and your service provider, mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "smtp.suddenlink.net." Next, and this is where I goofed, under "Incoming Mail Server" it asks for your "E-mail username:". Put your FULL EMAIL ADDRESS not just the name before "@." Mine reads dsjaggers@suddenlink.net. Then enter in your password (that you gave your internet service provider) in the "Password:" field.{And I checked the box "Remember password" so I don't have to do that every time I go to get my email.} Then MAKE SURE to check the box under "Outgoing Mail Server" that says beside it "My server requires authentication.")

Feb 20, 2010I'm using Vista 64 bit and have been using WinMail (Outlook Express replacement) since I upgraded. Now, all of the sudden I'm getting the logon dialog popping up anytime I try to access my mail. Even though I did not set it up to require a logon and password when I set it up, I tried every ID and Password I've ever used and I keep getting the error msg I'm inputting the wrong ID and./or Password in.
