I have a Dell inspiron 1545(vista 32-bit) and the internet connectivity is really annoying..!! It gets disconnected frequently showing limited connnectivity and then gets connected automatically in a few seconds. i tried to unbind the ipv6..but still no good results. i am not tech savvy.

After i browse for some duration or open more tabs, i dont know which reason, i can't open any website other then google,gmail.. Though i can connect and browse any site at same time on my ipodtouch. Both interner explorer as well as google chrome doesnt open any site when such happens but google,gmail works.. After i restart pc, it works again.. sometimes if i wait and dont restart, it starts working and again stops mostly.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a local network with 4 Vista boxes and one XP box, and despite all of our efforts the internet crashes frequently and the router needs to be reset. The XP machine says that it is still connected during these times, but there is no data transfer.I am absolutely positive that this is an operating system-related issue because not only have we swapped out all of the cables, but we've also purchased a new router, and switched from local internet service to cable with absolutely no change in performance. This would be fine if it were one computer but all of the computers seem to crash simultaneously and we end up needing to unplug and replug in the router to get it to work. We've made a whole variety of changes in regards to our router setup etc, but I'm very convinced that the situation lies at the computer level.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a program trying to flash on my screen. It is every 12-15 seconds apart and only flashes for a half second. I have tried to click on it. I have disconnected from the internet as I thought maybe someone was trying to access my computer. Still does it. I ran3 different spyware and antivirus programs. Plus, I ran rkill (all 4 types). I still have the problem.
If I am typing while it flashes, it erases my typing. I have defragged, debugged in addition to running spyware and antivirus programs. After doing each one of them, I have restarted my computer. Still get that flash. It is driving me bonkers.
I'm running Vista x64 Home Premium. Vista won't frequently find USB devices that are plugged in. For example, my Blackberry isn't recognized anymore, a Dymo scale, etc. Rebooting hasn't helped. Add Hardware doesn't find anything.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI would like to stop the Vista Welcome Center from appearing on my frequently used programs list on the start menu, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do it. I manually remove it, and it comes back. I shut off the feature from the start properties and it comes back when I turn it back on. I never use the welcome center and the first time it popped up on the PC ( new) I disabled it...or so I thought
Question is why does it keep reappearing on the list and I do not use it. Is it set to be on the list and how can I stop it. I recall in XP I could disable it on a per program basis, but Vista does not seem to have that feature.
Unlike usual my computer has gone crazy...by that i mean it crashes frequently, laggy, Deep freezes. I fully scanned my computer with Norton 360 and Malwarebytes and didn't find any infections by virus/trojans, also i consult with a Hijack This log analyzer and he gave a green light. Im currently using a genuine vista OS, genuine microsoft office. Below are the data i copy from "Problems Report and Solutions". If I want to install both XP & Vista on separate partitions, apparently I need to install XP first. During the XP install I have the option of creating 2 partitions don't I? It's my understanding that there can be only 1 primary partition & only the primary partition is bootable. Every other partition is an extended partition. This is what confuses me. XP uses the boot.ini file & is installed first on the primary partition. Won't Vista be installed on an extended partition? Since XP uses the boot.ini file & Vista uses the bcdedit file, which file is used if both XP & Vista are installed in a multiboot configuration? Which would be the default OS? I have disconnected the speakers and connected tem to my Ipod and they work a treat. Volume in System tray is on full, so is it in the "Spealers/ Headphone Properties". The vertical bar on the right shows that the System recognises the volume, i.e. the equaliser keps jumping! I can hear something when I turn up the volume on my speakers but the music is only slightly louder than the white noise! The problem occurs with mp3s, films, CDs and DVDs. I have reset my routher (Linksys), PC, Modems, ran straight line from my modem. Nothing seems to be fixing the issue. It almost appears to be a Vista issue! Comcast says my connection is 100% active and good! Im not to tech savy, but I can figure most of the basics out with ease.

I am using my Bravia as a tv/monitor. Yesterday I connected my old AMD 2800 to it to do some testing. It runs on WinXP. Now that I have disconnected it and am using my main pc which runs on Vista Ultimate the icons in my taskbar are so low on the screen that I can barely see them; also the width of IE 8 is such that I cannot see the arrow in the upper left hand corner that brings you back to the previously viewed webpage; the x, _, and mimimize rectangle in the upper right hand corner are also not visible; and the icons on my desktop are so far to the left that they are only half visible. I checked the resolution and it has not changed. See the attached, pls. The only possible reason for this that I can think of is that while using the AMD 2800 pc I had to download updates to its video card to solve a problem that I was experiencing while using it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I've installed vista, the installation have set the boot manager to be on a different disk than the the boot loader. Now, if I want to remove the hard drive containing the boot manager, the system won't load, which is reasonable given these conditions, nonetheless I DO want to remove this hard drive and still be able to boot, therefore I've searched and queried everywhere and done the following: Physically disconnected the hard drive with the boot manager on it (d and boot with the Vista DVD to run startup repair -> this didn't help, the startup repair found the operation system but didn't recognize any problem, when trying to boot the system would not load, the error I'm getting when booting is disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart.
(reconnected d:, and system boots flawlessly, then) I've manually changed the boot manger (and memory diagnostic, the only other bcd entry on the d: drive) location with bcdedit to c:, and now bcdedit (and VistaBootPro) show the boot manager (and memory diagnostic) in the c: drive, HOWEVER, if I try to boot from that drive I get the same error: disk read error.................
Firefox frequently stops working and this seems to have something to do DEP (Data Execution Prevention) as the DEP icon appears in th system tray after each crash. I have tried to turn off DEP for Firefox but system insists that Firefox must run with DEP on.

When disconnected and rebooted networking is not active and the adapter is shown as "Media disconnected". I have tried to disable media sensing (which would fix this on Windows XP) by doing:-
1. Adding a DisableDHCPMediaSense DWORD with value 1 to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParameters
2. Running the following commands as an Administrator:- netsh interface ipv4 set global dhcpmediasense=disabled. netsh interface ipv6 set global dhcpmediasense=disabled. Neither options appear to have had the desired affect.
After fighting to get rid of a Trojan horse virus, I am missing the internet browser. E-mail works OK. Clicking 'Internet' icon gets me the message 'Internet Explorer has stopped working:". I tried 'restore' but it is not working either. I get the message 'an unspecified error occurred during system restore'. I scanned with AVG and the files it scanned are clean. I have a 'restore' DVD made by the computer vendor but when I stick it in the CD drive nothing happens. The computer is a 1 year old ACER with VISTA home premium preinstalled. How do I proceed from here? I have no idea what to do.

The threads and posts I have seen so far deal with Vista and Wireless lag issues. I use a wired cable internet connection. I get this cyclical lag every 20-25 seconds or so. It happened when I had a DSL connection as well. It's either a setting or the net but I wouldn't expect the net to produce cyclical lag, just lag as it occurs. I'm on an AMD 6000+ 3.0 Ghz cpu with ASUS M3N78-EMH HDMI, GbLAN mobo. I have 4 GB Kingston HyperX RAM and a 9800 GTX+ graphics card. I don't think its the hardware. the cabel connection I know have is 8 down 2 up guaranteed and actually gets from 12-16 down and 3.5 up so the speed and bandwidth are there. To give you an idea I will go from a FPS of 128 (nice and smooth gameplay) to a jaw dropping 5 or 6. Please help!!! Any ideas would be appreciated. The game is a peer to peer first shooter called Warrock. I know this means lag can be totally from the other poeple but I still don't thik it would be that cyclical.

I typically use Internet Explorer and it runs fine and I can access websites etc. However after a given time period (maybe 30mins), it stops connecting me to webpages and just does this "forever loading" thing. I thought it may have been a software issue so I installed Google's Chrome but that does exactly the same thing.
I don't think its a problem with the router/modem because I still have the problem even if I restart that. Same if I repair my network connection. I've tried deactivating firewalls and antivirus software but to no avail. The only way I've managed to overcome the problem is if I restart my computer and obviously restarting my computer every 30mins is less than ideal.
I wanted to set my wii on the internet I get as far as putting my key number in or password and it says it cant connect it is driving me mad, If I cant do this I will have to pay someone to do it cheers
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was using my computer fine at first but decided to restart since I've had it on for 100 hours without a real shutdown (I was using hibernate). When I rebooted I was unable to access the internet using any programs such as IE, ff, msn, etc.. but I was still able to ping Google and get a <100ms response.
What happens when I open IE for example is that it simply says that it cannot connect to the internet. When I close it I get "Internet Explorer is not responding" twice in succession. I then get a warning telling me that it was blocked by DEP. So I disabled DEP and restarted but I still had the same problem just without the DEP warning.
This is very annoying because this is on my uni laptop and I need to use these programs almost daily in and out of class, so reinstalling is a last resort option. I'm currently running a previously installed version of Ubuntu on the same machine with no problems with the internet so I can eliminate any possibilities of it being a hardware problem.
Okay, when ever i leave my computer desk and let my pc sit in idle, the internet shuts off after an 1hr to 2 and goes into "Unidentified Network." the only way im able to get my internet back is if i go to mange network and disable and re-enable the network, works fine until i leave my pc again. This problem has started ever since i got my new PC Im running Vista Ultimate x64 on the machine atm. Every other computer in this house is not having a problem but they are running on XP. My last pc was running on Vista Home Pre x64 and it never had this problem iv been googling and trying to find out the problem but i give up i was hoping if there was anyone out there that could help me out plz!!!!

This is what she clicks to go on the internet, Now when she visits or clicks on links, she will sometimes get a message that she needs to install flash player.
She already has the latest flash player installed, but apparently this does not work on this "internet explorer 64 bit"
I diden't even know there was a 64 bit internet explorer.
And it goes on to say something like flash player is for 32 bit browsers, for flash player to work on 64 bit browsers search online for help, or it directs you to microsoft help and support.

so i thought i would just ask to see if there is one thing i could follow to fix this problem..
just got a new computer HP pavilion p6142p and it is connected to the internet by an encore electronics 802.11g wireless usb adapter to a dynex router which is hardwired to a linksys modem. my new computer, of course, has vista HPx64 and this is the last thing that i've had to beat into shape.....gotten all the other junk that i hate about vista ironed out, but i am still having problems with the internet. ISP is comcast (ugh, i know) cable.
my husbands two macs are not affected by the internet trouble, so i know it's something on my end. though, his computers are hardwired into the router. mine will just disconnect whenever it feels like it. i did notice that the microwave was shutting it off, so i changed the channel on the router to 6. it seems to help a bit, but just now while typing this, it's gone a couple of times... no microwaves or anything then. my neighborhood is under some heavy road construction now and i was wondering if anything they might be using could affect my adapter getting its signal.
