I have been having some trouble creating folder pictures for my albums and movies. on my old Xp it was a peace of cake doing this, but i can't seem to get it working in vista. I right click on the folder in wich i want the albumart to show, and i choose the picture, and apply the setting but the folder does not change. I don't know if it has something to do with my folder options. I have been searching the net for an answer but there seems to none.
I recently bought a new PC with Vista. I'm having a problem trying to customise my folder icons with pictures. I go throught the easy steps but nothing changes. I'm not a technical expert.
I have an external hard drive (portable) that I have stored a bunch of digital scrapbooking kits on. When I plug it into my laptop, I can not figure out how to change the view of it so I can just put one "picture" on the folder. I need to know what is in each folder by looking at one picture on the icon and for the life of me, I can not get it to work. I right click, go to customize and choose file. I pick what I want on there and then click apply and it does not work. I am at a loss. Does anyone have any ideas for me. I can get it to work on something that is internal but not the external.
I cannot create a sub-folder: I am told it already exist but it does not. I checked everything that can be checked in Windows Mail. How do I solve this ?
I would like to see microsoft implement a folder structure creator. I have many customer and project and each of them require a particular file structure that is similar. It would be nice if we could have folder structure template OR copy existing one without it's file/document content only the folder structure will be copy. This could be merge with my previous demande to enhance the contextual menu. I could then have new.. folder...process. Chose the one i need and all the folder and sub-folder will be create in one simple operation...........
I've scanned this forum a bit but can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Does anyone know how to edit or create custom folder templates in windows explorer? I don't particularly like the default layout for the metadata tabs for Music Folders in particular.
I have been using Vista Ultimate x64 for more than a year now and this just came up. i realized that i cannot connect to the internet using any x86 programs. my usual firefox 2.0.x would not load any webpage but instead stay on a blank page with the correct address in the address bar. whenever i quit firefox it crashes, and similar thing happens for safari, or IE7 x86. i can only access the internet with IE7x64. i did not do anything between the last time i could access the internet with other programs fine, and the first time i come across this problem. my windows updater is turned off and no updates have been installed during either. and i dont know if this is the same problem, the just-in-time debugger keeps coming up and ask if i want to debug. if i close the window it reopens, and if i say yes a message box says "cannot create appication folder" or something like that.wonder if anyone knows what the problem is? another problem, this one with IE7:since first day using IE7 i have had problem installing plugins to it. everytime i visit a page with a adobe flash file on, IE would prompt me to install the flash player plugin, sometimes twice in a row, while nothing actually happens. same goes for java.
I've just tried to create a shortcut of the Music folder by dragging it to the desktop, but instead vista places a duplicate (not a copy or a shortcut) of the folder to the desktop. It gets better, i then decided to delete what i thought was the music folder shortcut located on the desktop and hastily clicked the yes button to trash it. I'm assuming the file names were too big for the bin, and lost over 1300 songs! I'm just after some answers as to why vista does this? Just FYI, the right way to get it off your desktop is to drag it back to it's default folder.
When I download pictures from my digital camera, it stores them all in one folder. Is there a way that I could download them into folders that it created by picture-taken date?
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 (system specs: laptop 2.1 Ghz core 2 duo, 4 gb RAM, 500gb hd (about half full) nvidia 8400M GS, Avira Premium Security Suite). I have had the computer for about a year running fine with 1 main admin account. Now when I need to create an account for another user I cannot create one, either admin or standard. When I create it, using either the control panel or command prompt, it creates the user picture, making the account visible on the control panel user accounts screen, and on logon screen. However, when trying to log into the new account I am greeted with the error "User profile service failed on logon. User profile cannot be loaded." The standard fix for this from various forums is to edit the registry key of the account. However, on going to regedit I see that no key even exists for the account. On further investigation I discover that no user files have been created either. I attempted a system restore, but discovered that all my past restore points were gone, and intruigingly, the computer had stopped createing 24 hour checkpoints. I cannot say for definite whether it was this issue or another one that caused system restore to mess up, as I don't check my system restore all that often. Either way, system restore is not an option. There have been mentions of a full Vista reinstall, though if at all possible I would like to avoid this.
I am having problems with creating shortcuts on my desktop. when i select send to desktop (create shortcut) it comes up with the error. Windows could create the shortcut. Check to see if the disc is full.I have over 180 GB free space left. To get things to the desktop i can drag it into the tab section next to the start icon, and then drag onto desktop. But when i do this i am always required to give permission and it creates two desktop icons.i have been having problems with my catalyst control centre but i dont think they are related.
When I install Vista, it wants to force me to create a local account, and it won't let me create one called Administrator, becuase the name is already used (thus the Administrator account exists). I don't want to create some dummy account just just to log in to join the domain. How do I get past the "Choose a user name and picture" screen and log in as Administrator so I can just install the network drivers and join my domain?
what it was is i took a picture via msn if you dont know what i mean then i went to change disply picture.. webcam took one that via msn...is there any way i can get that picture on my pc? i have feeling it must be as it was took on this pc but it via cam on msn messanger?
I don't really know what happened but one day I went on my computer and all my pictures were gone. No one deleted anything but will this have anything to do with it? I used Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition and I thought I had a virus, so then I scanned the 254 cookies and yeah. I'm not sure if it was gone before or after that but my pictures are gone.
I am operating on VISTA HOME PREMIUM. Can I get rid of my USER PICTURE, and the frame that goes with it, and only display my username and the password box when I log on.
I installed LOGON STUDIO VISTA and created a beautiful background. The user photo with the screen is NASTY!
By now, having read the headline and looked at the above image, you've concluded that I've finally gone crazy. "That Microsoft news writer at Ars has finally lost it," you mutter sadly, shaking your head. I assure you though, it hasn't happened yet, nor is this an early April Fool's joke. While you can't get the shirt pictured above from Microsoft anymore (no longer available), the company will be offering it again soon: it's called The Misdemeanor. The one that you can currently purchase for a mere $10 is The 101, and it's available at Urban Outfitters. In case you're you're wondering, yes, the binary does translate to "Softwear by Microsoft." Still think this is some kind of prank? The official website for "Softwear by Microsoft, A Clothing Lin." is already live at Microsoft.com.
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 Core 2 2.0G Duo Processor, 2 Gig of ram and a 256MB ATI Mobility X1400 video card. I am running Windows Vista. Whenever I play a Divx movie with WMP it skips. Sometimes the sound plays good but the picture becomes slows down. After about 30 sec? min, the picture takes off and catches up to the sound. I have tried other players and I get the same results. The only one that seems to work is VLC player. I talked to a fella in a computer shop today and he suggested more ram. Is 2 gig of ram not enough, or should I have more? I have another computer that is also an Inspiron 6400 with the exact same hardware but it has XP on it. It does not have any problems with it. Is this a vista problem or do I need to upgrade it already?
I use Vista Windows Mail. My cousin just got a new computer with Vista and uses Windows Mail. I have no problem receiving pictures from others and no problem with my emails that I send. When I receive emails from her it shows there is an attachment, but the picture comes thru as the box with a red X. There is no yellow line above it to click on. Right clicking the red X doesn't work. As long as her emails show there is an attachment, why aren't her pictures coming through?
Wanted to add picture or flyer on email ( not attachment ) when sending email that person can see when open email for example first two row comments after the comment add pictures/or flyers then few comments how can we add pictures/or flyers
i was using a tweak guide to help speed up my computer running Vista Ultimate 64bit. I must have unchecked a box that turns off the display of picture properties as you hover the pointer over the picture. I don't even remember what it is called anymore so it makes it hard to find out where i must have unchecked it at. If anyone knows where in my OS i could find this and get it back i would truly appreciate it. Didn't think i would miss it, but i do.
Does anyone have this problem? I created an e-mail with an image, when I send the e-mail. The e-mail goes to the receiver inbox without the image or picture.
When I use to own XP MCE, after install, it said that there was no encoder/decoder and MCE would not display a picture on the TV tuner untill I installed a DVDencoder/decoder. I have now upgraded to Vista Home premium 32bit and was wondering if I had to do the same again?
