I recently got a used computer with Vista Home Basic on it. Everything went fine last night when I first started it. Put my email account on it, etc. However, when I came home today and got on it, a window asking for my password appeared. It's my name, but I don't have any idea on what the password, evidently from a previous owner, could be. I don't even know how I got where I got. Now I can't get in the computer at all.
View 4 RepliesI have a Windows Live Mail account and a Yahoo account and they both show up on the left hand side of my Window Live Mail account so I can choose which account I want to use or, for example, which inbox to look in. At the bottom, also on the left hand side of my Windows Live Mail account, it shows 'Add e-mail account', which is what I want to do with a new 'AOL' account and I want it to show on the left hand side like the two other accounts.
So I made a new AOL e-mail account, clicked 'Add e-mail account' at the bottom of my 'Windows Live Account', then I put in my new AOL e-mail account and password where it showed me. Then I clicked next.
The next page was all about my email server. When I did this before with a new e-mail account, it was all filled out automatically for me, but this time, all the blanks were left open and I have no idea what to fill in. I believe once I have this information, the AOL e-mail account will automatically then show on the left hand pane of my Windows Live Mail account below the other two accounts.
If I remove a windows mail account will I lose all of the email in the account?

When opening Windows Mail the login pop-up window keeps asking for user name and password. It doesn't stop, even when correct data entered. This started by itself - does anyone have a solution?

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn Vista Home Premium. I go to send an email (Win mail) and up pops a box asking for the password for the email account I am using. If I click cancel and then go to the outbox, open the email and resend, it goes through no problem. It will almost certainly do this if I have not used the computer for an hour or so (although all power saving are 'always on'). It always happens within ten mins of booting the computer in the morning. and is now happening more frequently at other times. I have scanned the computer for virus and malware etc - all clean, it's just annoying!

I was asked for my username and password (that doesn't usually happen), and then it would not accept my username and password. View 4 Replies View RelatedI kept getting an error message ("invalid user name or password") everytime I tried to enter in my user name and password to get access to my email with Windows Vista on my new computer. After an exhaustive effort to solve the problem with my ISP and with HP (including deactivating Windows Vista Firewall and shield and uninstalling my spy and virus software and then reinstalling Vista) I contacted Microsoft and paid a well spent $60 and they quickly resolved the problem. Here's what I had to do to make it work.
Open Mail, go to Tools, and then Accounts, click Add and created an E-mail account. (Type "POP3" in the field "My incoming mail server is a server." Under "Incoming mail (POP3):" type: pop.(your service provider), mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "pop.suddenlink.net." Under "Outgoing mail (SMTP):" type "smtp." and your service provider, mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "smtp.suddenlink.net." Next, and this is where I goofed, under "Incoming Mail Server" it asks for your "E-mail username:". Put your FULL EMAIL ADDRESS not just the name before "@." Mine reads dsjaggers@suddenlink.net. Then enter in your password (that you gave your internet service provider) in the "Password:" field.{And I checked the box "Remember password" so I don't have to do that every time I go to get my email.} Then MAKE SURE to check the box under "Outgoing Mail Server" that says beside it "My server requires authentication.")

One night while my grilfriend was sick as heck, she decided to change her password. not really smart cause when she woke up the next morning, she didn't remember anything from that day. so now she has no password. now, if this was XP i'd be able to open it up in safe mode, jump into the administer account and and make the password something simple. but since it's vista, the powers that be decided that it would be best if the administer account was not enabled by default. so i cannot go through in safe mod to change the windows password. i tried the reset password technique, but to do that you need a password reset disc such as a floppy disc,(no port) or flash drive that somehow has the windows install on it. right. i've tryed password cracking softwear. that worked on my home XP, and it got my password, and my brothers. but when i tried the Vista versions on her Piece of C, it came up with no password set.
we're all relitivly poor and cant afford $200 for XP or Vista just to loose all the stuff she had on her computer. please. prove me wrong. tell me how to get passed the password on her computer so that we can get all of our pictures and crap off.
When I initially installed Vista Premium the computer would boot directly into the Administator account. I then set up 2 accounts beside the admin and Vista boots directly into the Admin Desktop. I disabled the Admin account after establishing my other accounts with administrator rights. I know get a message saying that my password is incorrect and then after acknowledging it I go to the Account selection screen.
I would like to have the account screen come up after enabling the admin account vice having the OS boot up and drop me directly into the Admin account.
I bought a laptop sony vaio with Window Vista Home Premium three weeks ago. I forgot my password (Master account) but I thing that I still remember the Administrator password. When I turn on laptop I see only my account (Master account). How can I change to Administrator acccount on boot up?

I enabled the administrator account two months ago, and also assigned a password to it for extra security. Four people, including myself use this computer, and one of the user's which is also an account with administrative privileges (not the administrator account), has achieved the ability to remove the Administrator Account Password, through User accounts in the Control Panel. Note: I do have user account control's (UAC) turned off, and I am about to try turning it on to see if that helps out. Other than that, I am having an issue with a person removing my administrative account password. How to I stop this from happening completely?

I wanted to download something from the web but i needed administrative permisisons, and seeing that my sister can be a total $@#^% sometimes she won't let me change me to the administrator for awhiel whiel id ownload the thing. I tried to figure out her password but no luck. I searched the web trying to see if there was a way around it, but nothing helped. Can anybody tell me if if can do something here?

ISP provider has double checked and all settings are correct.
Referring to Microsoft Mail on Vista computer: I have two email accounts using MS Mail. A is my default account, B is not. When mail is sent to my B account, I can't reply to it. It sits in outbox with an error message. I can only reply to mail sent to A, the default account. Is there a way to set it up so I can reply to mail using both accounts?
