Windows Mail Setup Live Mail
Jan 24, 2010I am trying to set up Windows mail to read my Microsoft Office Live mail. Has anyone done this? All I get is that I need Outlook, but Windows mail says it replaces Outlook,, but the steps I have taken do not work per the e-mail I received from Microsft Office via an e-mail I sent from the site.

Windows Mail Setup Failure
Mar 23, 2008I got a new computer last year and it has Windows vista. That has Windows mail. My ISP is verizon but I don't have an email aaccount for verizon. The email address I get by defaut on Windows mail is Yahoo.com. I have no idea what the POP3 and SMTP are for my Windows mail account. I tried incoming.verizon.net which is verizon's POP3 and outgoing.verizon.net which is verizon's SMTP but nothing works. Some retarded error always comes up. This is the latest one: Subject 'blood', Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 SIZE 20971520', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D from when I sent an email.

Jun 14, 2008I have a fresh Vista machine and this is my first time using Vista. When I start Windows Mail, which seems to work fine, I eventually have to shut down 3 series of popup windows having to do with the installation of Microsoft Outlook 2007, which I do not want installed because, apparently, the version which came with my Vista Home Premium OEM is trial only and I can only start it a limited number of times before it expires (as I found out when I opened Word). In any case, I checked, and Windows Mail is set as my standard default program for email and newsgroups; I cannot make it the default because it already is. Does anyone know what is going on and what I must do to correct things?

Apr 15, 2010Im going to sound like a Neophyte question. Why is it that this newsgroup is hijacked by this guy Keven and what ever the heck he is doing. I dont get it. Cant this news group be set up to refuse mail from this name. Im not critical really I just dont understand, with all the technology today, surely the moderator has the power to stop his eamil address. And if he creates a new one put it in. Ive neverrun a news group so I may be in the dark.
My second question is perhaps more phylisophical. I dont get what he is doing, I mean the messages are stupid. At least if they are ads for drugs I get it he is selling something but, these messages I just dont get ?? What is the point of it all. I hope Im not focusing too much attention on this I just dont get these two questions. Its amazing how one guy can be such a fool?? I flag it as spam but no one seems to do anything about it??

May 26, 2009I am wonderinig if somewhere hidden in windows vista there is a setup file for the vista OS. back in the days of my win98 pc if It started to run slow or malfunction often, I would just run windows setup. I dont know where I found it but it was there on my hard drive back then. I have searched my vista pc but have not found it. I remember rerunning setup for windows 98 was a cure all. and made my pc fast as new again, It would even work with all my programs still installed. could I get it off a borrowed vista DVD? or is it somewhere on my hard drive?

What happens is that when i install vista (from usb) It restarts the first time, then it displays the message "vista is starting up for the first time or something" then I go to the next stage but there I get the error in my title. In my bios (DELL) i have only one option to change the harddrive from ATA to AHCI (or vice versa) and that is it and I have tried both options & same error.

Aug 13, 2009I have attempted all the following to install. I corresponded with digital river who forwarded me three files for the Vista upgrade.After downloading via FireFox I begin the installation. Once the installation begins I get the following error message: "Cannot extract Windows Vista Setup to your hard drive. Please ensure that you can create files and folders in the same folder where VistaSetupPrep.exe was downloaded." Now, I have troubleshooted this way:
I have unprotected the folder that contains all the files and unclicked the Read Only option. I have attempted to copy and paste the install.wim and the boot.wim files into the source folder that is created after I have begun the install, as someone in the Microsoft Answers Forum suggested. I also tried to burn it to a DVD, which gave me another error message.
This is extremely frustrating as I purchased this OS on discount thinking it is an affordable alternative. I can also see that I am not the only one with this issue. So it would be nice if someone from Microsoft found a solution to this issue. I currently have Windows XP Media Center Edition SP 3.

Oct 6, 2009What, if any, inferences can be drawn from the fact that there are typically three times more posts about Windows Mail (WM) than Windows Live Mail (WLM). Could it be that:
(a) WM is more troublesome than WLM (in view of the greater complexity of WLM this seems improbable)?
(b) Many more people use WM (seems probable - I wonder what the figures are)?
(c) A higher proportion of technically savvy users are likely to be early adopters of Windows 7 who have to find an alternative to WM. Some then migrate to a non-Microsoft email client such as Thunderbird, while those that try WLM find they can master it with few problems (plausible)?
My feeling is that there seem to be an awful lot of folk hanging on to WM and that they might be put off updating to Windows 7 because neither WM (nor Outlook Express) will not be available (at least not in a securely supported version) to run on it. I am cross-posting this to both newsgroups and suggest that replies go to WM as it has the larger following.
