I have an e-mail account with comcast. How can I delete this particular program from my computer so it now longer exists. I have set up email account with another available on-line source and no longer want to be available with the comcast e-mail program. Keep in mind I am not very computer literate and I continue to use comcast internet services.

I am formerly a bellsouth.net customer, but would like to continue using Windows mail. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows Live Mail account and a Yahoo account and they both show up on the left hand side of my Window Live Mail account so I can choose which account I want to use or, for example, which inbox to look in. At the bottom, also on the left hand side of my Windows Live Mail account, it shows 'Add e-mail account', which is what I want to do with a new 'AOL' account and I want it to show on the left hand side like the two other accounts.
So I made a new AOL e-mail account, clicked 'Add e-mail account' at the bottom of my 'Windows Live Account', then I put in my new AOL e-mail account and password where it showed me. Then I clicked next.
The next page was all about my email server. When I did this before with a new e-mail account, it was all filled out automatically for me, but this time, all the blanks were left open and I have no idea what to fill in. I believe once I have this information, the AOL e-mail account will automatically then show on the left hand pane of my Windows Live Mail account below the other two accounts.
I can see my old emails but I can not receive any new ones. I keep getting this box that asks me to logon to mail.comcast.net and asks me to verify that both the username and password are correct for my mail server. I enter the info but still nothing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWell after several years of using port 25 for Comcast email my laptop suddenly stopped sending out mail. After a little tinkering I realized that if I used port 587 for outgoing mail all is well.
My question is why did this occur on just my laptop and not my PC? They both are on the same router and I'm pretty diligent with keeping Windows updated, spyware sweeps, virus definitions, etc. What controls this process of disabling port 25 for outgoing mail? I would doubt if Comcast could even see or reach my laptop. You'd think that such a change would be widespread or at the least force me to use port 587 on both of my computers. I should point out that one pc uses Vista while the other is running XP.
I am new to Vista. I want to have my comcast email forward into Windows Mail. How do I do this?

Why i didnt just use guest side im still not sure. I want to delete this account and turn on guest but it will not let me do anything with it. I have tried changing it to standard and deleting and nothing. I went into safe mode and tried to delete it and still nothing. Turned on the built in administrator account and still nothing. Im tired of them being able to change setting and things on the other side and i can not do anything about it,

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am listed as the Administrator on my laptop. After my Dad gave me this PC after having it and registering in his name, I renamed the Administrator from his name to mine. When I go under User Accounts, I am the only user listed. However, when I boot my computer, my Dad's log in information is listed first and it starts up automatically saying "Username or password is invalid" and then I have the click "Switch User" to log in under myself. I have tried to delete User Account in Safe Mode, but that did not work either. How can I delete this account so I may start up my computer with just my login information??

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy son changed a standard user account with parental controls to an administrator account by downloading a program off the internet. He went to Offline NT Password & Registry Editor and downloaded cd080802.zip under the bootdisk submenu. Our attempts to correct the problem have failed. We've tried deleting the account through Control Panel and command prompt. We've tried making the account inactive through command prompt. Even when we type in "net user *** " all we get is "The syntax of this command is: ..." like the account is inaccessible. You don't get the "user name could not be found" message that you would if you typed in an invalid user name but you don't get the account information that you normally would either. We've tried system restore but the account is still set as administrator.

It says that I have to set it up on the server. I have no clue about setting it up, and I am the system admin on my personal computer. The other issue is the dialing rules do not work. I have it plugged directly into the comcast modem but get the "local access only" message that seems to be such a problem for wireless users. When doing ipconfig /renew I get a message stating that windows could not contact the dhcp server. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the modem as it works fine with XP and Linux machines. Everything I have found related is talking about wireless issues and I've tried the registry edit provided by MS for setting the dhcp flag value to 1 and also disabled IPv6 and power options in the adapter configuration.

Just today I activated Windows Mail and now all my email from Comcast is coming into Windows Mail, which is what I wanted, but now my Comcast email is empty. So I guess all my email is just being re-directed. My question is when I am not at my computer but on a public computer, how can I access my email? On vista the administrator account is showing as a icon on the login screen. I dont want this to be visible, any ideas how to hide this?. I saw a registry hack but this removes the icon but it seems in doing so there is then no way to login without the icon.

Sometime it recovers but otherwise I need to kill it. I can open the attachment by clicking on the paper clip etc and everything seems fine so I don't think it's a security thing.

View 9 Replies View RelatedTwo nights ago, my Vista system started to behave in a bizarre fashion. Clicking on an desktop icon would bring up not just one window, but a dozen or more windows. That window would lock up making it difficult to close. Task manager invocation from the command bar would only appear momentarily. The start icon also just flashed for a second, then off. I finally was able to invoke task manager with cntrl-alt-delete and kill the open windows. This behavior persisted even after rebooting the machine.
I ran my up to date AVG and no viruses were found. Strangely, after one day, this weird behavior went away as quickly as it came on. I called Comcast thinking it may be something in the network causing the problem. They re provisioned my modem, but the problem was still there. My question is what brought on this behavior, an operating system quirk, bad handshakes with Comcast, or whatever. Unfortunately, I did not have my error logs turned on. I have done so now and if the problem re-appears, I might get some info from them.
