We have Symantec Anti virus in system, but probleam, it can't scan system. I show my system to other computer person, he try also. but not sucess too. We try AVG also, no one work here to scan computer. Message come could not sart scan. scan engine return error 0X20000003

View 6 Replies View Relatedi recently formatted and reinstalled windows on my computer and for some reason i have had nothing but trouble since. a run down of my problems, i had 4gb of ram now she will only run on 2gb, she used to be really fast at booting up and shuting down and now i can flick her on and have my breakfast before she has even thought about doing anything. I had a nosey in the event logger and amongst the hundred of errors daily, the one mark BOOT ERROR, is this one.
no viruses, hard drives are defragged and check disked. for the record when she is on she is fine, no problems, just booting up and shutting down it starts playing up

I'm running windows Vista Ultimate but have a couple of issues. First one is that I can't start defender at all, I can't update it because windows says it's already part of vista and I can't figure out how to uninstall it. The error message is 0x800106ba. Second issue is that I can't change the windows update settings, I have administrator rights but can't figure out how to change it, the options are greyed out.

Came across Painkiller Overdose Demo looked good downloaded it in about 7 min’s thought great lets shoot something. Clicked on the demo link in the start menu under games and got the error: Direct3D error: It was not possible to create the Direct3D rendering device. You may need to reinstall DirectX and/or update your graphic card. The graphics card is a Radeon x1950 (AGP) The annoying thing is I bought this like last year not realizing that PCI Express was the next thing and twice as fast. It has the latest Driver from the Radeon site 8-3_vista64_dd_59753.
I didn’t realise with the update to x64 that Vista automatically comes with Dx10. The thing is I have a game called Lost Planet Extreme Condition and on XP I would get weird graphic glitches this is one of the minor reasons I updated to Vista, because now when I run the game in Vista it runs flawlessly. This game comes with 2 launch modes LostPlanetDx9 & LostPlanetDx10. When on XP I would launch it with the Dx9 so when I installed Vista I had the game on my other drive so no need to install it, as I do with all my games. Anyway’ I decided to test it (not knowing at that point about Vista & Dx10) I launched it on Dx9 and it plays flawlessly as I said before
I installed this Demo on the Main Drive. So is it just an incompatibility issue with the Demo or is there some way to play this on the Dx10 Vista? One other thing I am annoyed about is that a while ago I bought GT Legends great game got it to play on my new Sony LCD TV and runs flawlessly on full everything? Also the only game for the pc where the PS2 controller I use through a Super Box 4 (PS2 to PC adapter) worked flawlessly, including the rumble. Well I had the adapter plugged in with the Controller connected and switched on when installing vista (tip for anyone installing vista have all the things you use connected and switched on cause Vista will recognize them saving you the process of hunting for drivers) didn’t recognize it. Does anyone know of a driver which I doubt, or even better a replacement to do the same job but on Vista.

The PC tried to install the latest Vista updates (20/2/2008) but upon restart she gets the message "Windows failed to restart - a recent hardware/software change may be the cause - File windowssystem32winload.exe "The selected file could not be loaded". She doesn't have a start in "normal mode" option. would really like to get sfc/scannow working Email with Acer America this Computer is still under Factory Warranty don't know what it covers, but they DON'T want me to return it to Store in Winnipeg where I purchased it don't know if I been screwed, this computer (LapTop) does Not have a Recovery partition, it has 1 disc C and 1 partition 232 GB (my Emachine Home Basic Desktop did have a Recovery Partition on D)
the Store made me set, 2 Discs after I complained and Acer sent me a set, 3.
Discs after some Emails already been at the store they are slick and have few answers , don't think I'll get far at the store.
I am testing VISTA Ultimate and find that I cannot get any of my older scanners to scan - nor can I find VISTA drivers for them. I have
1) HP PSC950 AIO (It prints however)
2) MUSTEK 1200LP
3) UMAX POWERLOOK II
Anyone out there have any luck getting any of the above to scan in VISTA? If so, how did U do it? Did you find driver(s) somewhere?
i have vista SP1 premium 64bit and when i put in call of duty 4 or demigods (both pc games) it sounds like theyre running, but then they stop all of a sudden i want to install it and play, theres no scratches on the games and theyre both brand new

I am looking for a sure thing ... a scanner that will work with Ultimate's Fax and Scan. I have heard that MS dropped TWAIN for this product and uses a different methodology.
I did have a network All In One but had nothing with problems using it with Vista. So now I'm thinking I'll just connect a scanner to the computer. I tried other software but I received a message that it couldn't access the modem because it was in use by another program ( not the case ).
I can't get WFS to successfully use the fax modem on my mobile phone over Bluetooth. The modem and Bluetooth connection are working fine outside WFS and I can successfully connect to a VPN over the internet using the mobile phone's modem via Bluetooth. I just can't think what could possibly be the problem. Has anyone else tried to set up their mobile phone as a fax modem over Bluetooth?
By the way, my carrier is T-mobile. I have already called them and they have confirmed that fax and data is enabled on my account. I'm using a Nokia 6233 but I don't think that should be relevant because I can already us the modem over Bluetooth to connect to the internet.

I have a hp 2200 all in one printer that worked fine with my old cheap $400.00 computer. My husband thought he would be nice and buy me an upgrade I now have an $1100.00 computer that won't scan pictures and after two months and more time than I have ever spent on a computer I am finding out this is not uncommon.

Since I have re-installed Vista, I have been unable to get Fax and Scan to view these previous faxes under the Sent Items folder. The new faxes are saving in the same folder as the ones from XP and my previous Vista install. I cannot view any old faxes in the Sent Items folder, I have to go to the Fax folder in my Documents that I have set up as my folder of record in order to view them. I was never able to get Fax and Scan to view the old Faxes from XP even though they appear to be saved in the same cryptic fashion as those saved in Vista.

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit version. I moved my Documents folder from the C: drive to my E: Data drive some time ago. When I open the Start Menu I now see "Data (E" on the button that used to read "Documents." I moved the folder to E: by right-clicking on the default "Documents" label, entering Properties/Location and indicating that I wanted the new location to be E: . The system did this, placing the Documents folder under E:.
This has not caused any problem until I tried to open Windows Fax & Scan today and I received a dialog window reading: "Windows Fax and Scan cannot run as it cannot access your documents folder. Please ensure that Windows Fax and Scan can access that folder." That's all very logical, but it doesn't tell me how to do this. How can I point Fax and Scan to the new location of my Documents folder?

Suddenly Vista Fax software doesn't work. I keep getting an error message (Microsoft Windows Fax and Scan Has Stopped Working) and then it shuts down without any chance to look at Tools. The only changes that have been made that I know of is a bunch of MS Security updates that had been failing for some unkown reason. I had to update them manually one at a time.
