I have an HP pavillion dv6000, and i have all the printer, and scanner drivers, and my scanner is installed no problem but i don't know where to scan, in windows xp, i find my scanner in my computer? I have an HP PSC 2210
This friend of mine has real problem with her laptop (Vista sp1)it was first noticed when her anti-virus did a scheduled scan. The anti-virus program hung whilst scanning the System32 folder.I tried with Windows Defender. Same thing, it hangs after a while.
I de-activated her anti-virus program (forgot the name. Not a well known brand) and downloaded/installed Avast, to no avail it also hangs whilst scanning the System32 folder.I also tried to scan using SFC/scannow. The PC freezes at 68 % of the scan.I tried these different manipulation in safe mode.Same results and everytime, the PC Freezes and I am obliged to do a hard stop/restart.
Problem: sfc/scannow stops at 76 %, gives no Info just that it can not perform the requested operation
it started when I Restored the System to Factory Install with the Discs ( 2 Discs) sent to me by Acer by mail SP 1 is already on the Discs, all Updates installed successfully, including SP 2 Event Viewer shows some Errors but don't know witch are associated with the sfc/scannow

I got a new computer with Vista I am trying to set up my fax. Help told me to go to Start, All Programs, Windows Fax and Scan but there is no Windows Fax and Scan on my menu. What can I do?
I'm using Vista Ultimate with Fax and Scan. It won't recognize my Canone LIDE 30. All of my other programs that use the scanner do recognize it. I am looking for a sure thing ... a scanner that will work with Ultimate's Fax and Scan. I have heard that MS dropped TWAIN for this product and uses a different methodology.
I did have a network All In One but had nothing with problems using it with Vista. So now I'm thinking I'll just connect a scanner to the computer. I tried other software but I received a message that it couldn't access the modem because it was in use by another program ( not the case ).
I can't get WFS to successfully use the fax modem on my mobile phone over Bluetooth. The modem and Bluetooth connection are working fine outside WFS and I can successfully connect to a VPN over the internet using the mobile phone's modem via Bluetooth. I just can't think what could possibly be the problem. Has anyone else tried to set up their mobile phone as a fax modem over Bluetooth?
By the way, my carrier is T-mobile. I have already called them and they have confirmed that fax and data is enabled on my account. I'm using a Nokia 6233 but I don't think that should be relevant because I can already us the modem over Bluetooth to connect to the internet.
I use my computer to scan pictures or look at stuff on ebay. I would say I am on the computer 2 hours a month. I have a hp 2200 all in one printer that worked fine with my old cheap $400.00 computer. My husband thought he would be nice and buy me an upgrade I now have an $1100.00 computer that won't scan pictures and after two months and more time than I have ever spent on a computer I am finding out this is not uncommon.
I have Vista Ult. I have thousands of faxes in my Sent Folder that are up to 7 years old, many from XP. Since I have re-installed Vista, I have been unable to get Fax and Scan to view these previous faxes under the Sent Items folder. The new faxes are saving in the same folder as the ones from XP and my previous Vista install. I cannot view any old faxes in the Sent Items folder, I have to go to the Fax folder in my Documents that I have set up as my folder of record in order to view them. I was never able to get Fax and Scan to view the old Faxes from XP even though they appear to be saved in the same cryptic fashion as those saved in Vista.
I want to put more ram on my PC & I don't know where I can found out how much it can take. I tried crucial.com/uk but everytime I try to run the scan, my PC gets the blue screen.
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit version. I moved my Documents folder from the C: drive to my E: Data drive some time ago. When I open the Start Menu I now see "Data (E" on the button that used to read "Documents." I moved the folder to E: by right-clicking on the default "Documents" label, entering Properties/Location and indicating that I wanted the new location to be E: . The system did this, placing the Documents folder under E:.
This has not caused any problem until I tried to open Windows Fax & Scan today and I received a dialog window reading: "Windows Fax and Scan cannot run as it cannot access your documents folder. Please ensure that Windows Fax and Scan can access that folder." That's all very logical, but it doesn't tell me how to do this. How can I point Fax and Scan to the new location of my Documents folder?
In XP I had fax console. Where is it in Vista. I have been all through the program files and don't see it. Does this self install with the installation of Vista, or must I add it from the installation DVD. There also seems to be something called windows fax and scan, but I can't find that either.
I have a genuine copy of Vista Ultimate 32 bit which I received at a Microsoft presentation when Vista was launched. Shortly after I purchased a new computer and the supplier loaded Vista Ultimate at the factory and used my key number to install and activate what may have been an OEM version. I understand Windows Fax and Scan may not be in an OEM version. My problem is that I can not find Windows Fax and Scan on my computer and wonder can I install from the Windows Disk?
I am trying to configure Windows Fax and Scan to use our phone service long distance carrier. I used to have Winfax and found that adding three 'pauses' after dialling the long distance carrier number and before entering the fax number to be called, did the trick. Unfortunately in Windows Fax and Scan I cannot seem to enter any 'pauses'. how I enter pauses or more importantly use a long distance providers number before the number I wish to dial?
Suddenly Vista Fax software doesn't work. I keep getting an error message (Microsoft Windows Fax and Scan Has Stopped Working) and then it shuts down without any chance to look at Tools. The only changes that have been made that I know of is a bunch of MS Security updates that had been failing for some unkown reason. I had to update them manually one at a time.
It prints fine over the network, but I cant add the software for it. When I go to scan printer, it doesnt show up. I'm on Vista x64 and the CD that came with it only works for XP. I could scan through the network fine on Vista 32-bit though. Not sure what I did there.
Upgraded and installed Vista Business from XP. I used Scansoft PaperPort on my other operating system and it worked great. I was able to configure a fax so that it would print a copy automatically on Paperport. Now that I have Windows Vista Business and configure it to print a copy on Paperport, it does nothing. I upgraded my Paperport to the latest version (Paperport 11) but it still does not recognize it. How can I have windows fax and scan print to paperport automatically when a fax comes in?
In XP I had fax console. Where is it in Vista. I have been all through the program files and don't see it. Does this self install with the installation of Vista, or must I add it from the installation DVD. There also seems to be something called windows fax and scan, but Ican't find that either.
I'm thoroughly DISGUSTED with MicroSoft for removing this feature from the program. I used this feature frequently. If I had known this prior to recently purchasing this system and upgrade--I probably would not have. Microsoft, you've gotten so big that you seem to feel it's okay to 'dog-out' your loyal customers without any negative ramifications to you.

I have the vista premium and I'm trying to set up the win fax for cable, through comcast in spokane wa. I have three fax pending and not sent. It says that I have to set it up on the server. I have no clue about setting it up, and I am the system admin on my personal computer. The other issue is the dialing rules do not work. I do not want the win fax to dial +1 for a local number.
I have both my windows defender and my anti-virus program set to automatically scan my computer at 2 am on a daily basis. I usually put my computer into hibernation when I am done working on it and for some reason it doesn't seem like either one of these programs is doing what it should be doing. If I actually do a complete shutdown on my computer then after I restart it it tells me that my computer hasn't been scanned in x amount of days. I thought I had everything set up correctly but I guess I may be missing something. I have never had an issue like this. Every other computer I have had things worked and scanned just fine like they were set up to do.
I can't get Windows Fax and Scan (WFS) to use the contacts from Outlook 2007. Running Vista Ultimate 64 on an SBS 2003 network. Using the server's shared fax. This worked when I had Vista Ultimate 32 installed. Unsuccesful steps I have tried. I have run a repair install of Office. I have deleted my old profile and created a new one. Please note that since I am running on SBS 2003 premium I use Exchange 2003 so I don't lose my contacts, e-mails, etc. when I delete the profile. I have rebooted. I have deleted the fax account and added it back. When I click on the address book icon my contacts appear and those with fax numbers are listed. What I get for contacts are the one created by Windows Mail for me. I have never used Windows Mail on this PC.
Why can't I access my Outlook 2007 contacts from Windows Fax & Scan to enable sending a fax to a particular contact. I am connected to a Windows SBS 2003 Server and am using the Fax server function. It used to work fine before I upgraded the PC to Windows Vista.
The built in search version for Vista (I have Vista Business 64 bit)doesn't search pdfs. I have Acrobat version 8.1.2. I read about aproblem on this but the solution was to update.
