Connecting To XP Network Printer "access Denied"

Mar 14, 2009

I have a network with four XP computers on and have recently added a Vista Laptop successfully. All documents are shared fine and internet access is fine. Heres the tricky part, 2 of the XP computers have printers attached to them, When connecting the Vista laptop to a printer on one of them, it works fine, When connecting the Vista laptop to any printer on the other one of them, it comes up with a message saying 'WINDOWS CANNOT CONNECT TO THE PRINTER. ACCESS IS DENIED'. I have tried many different ways and checked sharing permissions etc but cannot find a solution. Just as an added note - to connect to the printer from one XP machine to the 'problem xp machine' is no problem. Only from vista to the one machine. (The problem machine is a HP pavillion.)

Network Printer Attachment Not Properly: Failed Connecting To Printer - Access Denied

Jul 29, 2009

I?m trying to install a network printer on a Vista machine. Vista is able to locate the printer on the network but when I select it for installation, for some time, Vista tries to connect and then pops up this message: "Failed Connecting to Printer - Access Denied" And then another window pops up with this message: "Spooler Subsystem Application stopped woring and has been closed." In fact the spooler service always stops, so I have to restart it on the services windows, within Administrative Tools of the Control Panel. The machine is new and has been installed yesterday. Everything else works fine. The printer I am trying to install is on a Windows XP Professional machine within the same network (naturally).

Access Denied :: Network Access Is Restricted

Feb 17, 2009

I think I might have a good one for you.. I am working on an Acer 5610z Notebook for a friend of mine. He was setting the parental controls and managed to control his account which had admin access. the user listing has the account listing as an admin but he only has standard user access. His was the "only" admin account.. While he was doing this he managed to deny access to the boot drive. The drive reads as "Access Denied". The machine boots up and a person can play games etc.. but network access is restricted.

Destination Folder Access Denied On Network

Mar 26, 2007

I am running Vista Ultimate on one PC and XP Pro SP2 on another. I am the only user and have full admin rights on both (I checked) They are connected by a wired home network. I can see and browse the XP PC from the Vista PC, install programs from the XP PC onto the Vista PC - no problem BUT.... when I am using the Vista PC and try to copy a file across from the XP PC I can see the file appear in the Vista folder (using drag & drop) but then I get the dreaded "Destination Folder Access Denied....You need permission to perform this action" you can only click 'RETRY.'or 'CANCEL'....of course RETRY just repeats the error window and Cancel removes the file that you have dropped into the destination folder. As I am the owner with full rights over the folder, does anyone know what this message means and how to set whatever 'permission' is required?

XP Network "Access Denied"

Jun 17, 2008

Well I have spent 2 days going through all the posts trying to figure out why my XP computer and my VISTA won't share files. I've set all the TCP/IP stuff, ive disabled all firewalls that I know of and McAfee. I've pinged both ways. Ive set shared folders. I have to a place where my Vista now sees my XP. But when I click on it, "Access Denied".

I am connected through a wireless router with both ethernet cables plugged in. I am getting low on hope. I even tried mostly everything with browstat and everything Chuck's Network said to do about certain things....but each computer still doesnt show up on the browstat.

Connecting To XP Based Printer On Wireless

Feb 6, 2009

We have a home wireless network with a laptop and desktop both on XP. I've successfully added my new laptop with Vista to the network, but cannot connect to the printer that runs through the XP desktop. I've scanned some of the discussions, but nothing has worked so far. I've checked all the firewall settings, have file, printer and public sharing set on the Vista laptop.

The desktop PC is hardwired to the wireless router. The other XP laptop still prints through the system as normal. it's a Dell AIO 922 printer that has an XP based driver. Ihaven't been able to find a Vista driver for that printer. Do I just need a newer printer?

Access Folders Under My Name (set Up As Administrator), Most Of The Time I Get Access Denied

Jan 27, 2009

I try to access folders under my name (set up as administrator), most of the time I get access denied. It is driving me nuts. I want to change the start menu and get rid of a bunch of garbage but I can't enter the folder to do so. When I use the start menu program, it only has a few basic folders. This happens frequently, even when trying to view pictures or video in the folder. What do I need to change to remove this very annoying problem?

Network Printer Hosted Server Default Printer

Jun 17, 2008

I cannot set the default printer in Vista Business with SP1. I am connected to a domain trying to set a network printer hosted from a server as the default printer. I have seen a dozen or more questions similiar to this in this group as well as on other forums and found no answer. I see a MS-MVP come on and tell people to remove local printers such as the XPS and adobe printers. This is a ridiculous solution. Sure it may allow you to connect to a network printer but you have removed printers that you are going to need to use again. Unacceptable.

So far the only other solution that does not include deleting all the local printers off of the machine is to make sure you have write permissions to the default printer registry key. I have checked this and I do have write permissions(Full Control). SO WHAT NEXT? IS MICROSOFT EVER GOING TO COME OUT WITH ANOTHER FIX FOR THIS?

Connecting Disrupts Whole Network

Apr 25, 2007

We have a network connected to the internet through a T1 with 4 2003 Servers and several XP machines connected. We also have a Checkpoint firewall connected.  Any time I try to connect a computer with Vista on it, it connects and can access the Internet fine.  But EVERY other computer on the network loses connection. In the event log on the 2003 servers, it shows event id 4, network link is down. As soon as I disconnect the Vista computer, all of the others come back online. I've searched and searched for a resolution to this problem, but haven't found any. I'm really afraid the someone with a Vista laptop might come in and try to connect to the Internet (without telling me, of course) and cause the whole network to go down.

Connecting To Specific Network Dropped Off

Mar 29, 2009

I used to be able to connect to the network in my shared house with no problem via the wireless but at some point it just dropped off and was doing so intermittently, then it refused to connect point blank. The router is in the room next door to mine and the computer can see it is there with 100% 'reception' but it cannot connect to it. It works fine via the ethernet cable that I have but not wirelessly. In addition to this I can connect to an unsecured network wirelessly that occassionally becomes available which has less reception than the one I am trying to access. I don't understand why I can connect to one but not the other. I have not been able to connect wirelessly to this network for months now, and whilst the ethernet is working fine using it defies the point of having a laptop and wanting to move it around.

Connecting To Share In A Network After Password Change

Dec 4, 2009

ComputerA, running Windows XP 32-bit has a shared folder in read-only mode called SFiles with a sign-on of CAShare and a password of ZXJK1122. ComputerB, running Windows Vista 64, in the Network entry of Windows Explorer shows ComputerA. When I expand ComputerA I can see the SFiles shared folder undereath and when I try to click on the folder it asks me for a sign-on and password. I answer with CAShare and ZXJK1122, and it asks me if I want to save this information and I say yes. Subsequently, when I click on the SFiles shared folder it gives me read-only access to the files in the shared folder. This works excellently.

Subsequently, on ComputerA, I decide to change the password for the sign-on of CAShare from ZXJK1122 to NPPP345T. Now on ComputerB when I try to click on the SFiles shared folder in Windows Explorer I get a message of: "Windows can not access \ComputerASFiles with an error code of Ox80070005, Acces is denied."

That's fair enough, since I changed the password for the sign-on. So I want Windows Explorer on ComputerB to ask me for a new password, and I will reply NPPP345T and now have read-only access again which is fine. But it does not do this but repeatedly denies me access each time I click on the shared folder. Surely there must be some way to tell Window Explorer to get a new password from me for this share. How do I do that ? It seems impossible that Vista will keep me from accessing shared folders of another computer on my network simply because it has decided that I can not change the signon/password to the other computer's shares.

Registry - Access Denied

Sep 12, 2009

When selecting a subkey of the Java Plug-in key in the registry, I'm having an 'Access Denied' error. Even when I'm running regedit.exe with administrator rights. (OS = Visa Home Premium 32bits) When adding permissions to a subkey, I'm getting the same 'Access Denied' error when I want to save those permissions.

It results in a very anoying issue that none of my browsers (IE and FireFox) are recognising that the Java Plug-in is installed. I already tried to install other versions of the Java Plug-in, IE and Firefox (they are all installed successfully). Installing those apps with and/or without administrator rights. Nothing helps. I also searched to similar problems on this forum, but none of the solutions are fixing my problem.

Access Denied When Add System

I have an HP Vista Home Premium laptop (wireless) that I networked through a Linksys router with an eMachine XP desktop and a Gateway XP desktop (via ethernet cables). Both XP desktops commincate perfectly with each other. I can access the Internet and shared folders/files on all computers. The eMachine XP desktop has an HP laser 4L printer that is networked. I can view the printer on the eMachine XP computer but get "access denied" error when I try to add it to the Vista laptop. Per the "sure fire fix," I created a new local port and installed the HP printer drivers on the Vista laptop but the error remains.
