View 6 Replies View RelatedIn WinXP Home, I could examine the details of my BT Broadband internet connection (single user with USB connection) as follows: Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab. Select a connection from the list. Click "Settings"
I then typed all the settings in a text file. So if I lost a connection, I could manually enter all the settings without needing to insert the BT installation CD. I changed to Vista at the same time that I changed to Orange Broadband (4-user wireless). The connection was set up by CD from one laptop. The other laptop just connected itself by magic, using a LAN cable.
where to find the temp internet Video file stored on the PC while browsing the internet. I was watching video's from I tube site when i click on some video it gets downloaded on the pc and then plays. I want to know in which folder these files gets stored in Windows Vista.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a simple text file with a certain word in it. I try to find this text file, but vista won't find it. Windows 2000, linked by network, finds it within a second.
I have tried all available options.
"include non-indexed"
"always search file names and contents"
"find partial matches"
"include subfolders"
etc
etc
It just doesn't work. Why is there not a simple search function that actually works like in windows2000? I am using Vista Ultimate 64 bit. But not having a working search function doesn't look that "ultimate" to me.
I'm using Vista Home Premium - I generally use Outlook 2007 for my e-mail and organising but recently went to Windows Mail to find a Newsgroup (unavailable in Outlook). However, no Newgroups were visible. Unable to find a way to find them I clicked on "Help" and the advice includes "Click the Tools menu, and then click Newsgroups." However, there is no "Newsgroups" option in the Tools menu that displays. The Windows Mail I have is version 6.0.6000....
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter fighting to get rid of a Trojan horse virus, I am missing the internet browser. E-mail works OK. Clicking 'Internet' icon gets me the message 'Internet Explorer has stopped working:". I tried 'restore' but it is not working either. I get the message 'an unspecified error occurred during system restore'. I scanned with AVG and the files it scanned are clean. I have a 'restore' DVD made by the computer vendor but when I stick it in the CD drive nothing happens. The computer is a 1 year old ACER with VISTA home premium preinstalled. How do I proceed from here? I have no idea what to do.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem that everytime when I open a folder with mpeg-file the windows gives an error message about that host process stopped (rundll32) so it seems that I have an error with codec lmpgspl.ax. This problem started when I downloaded the ACE Mega Codecs pack and I have HP lap top. The update from HP website didnīt work.
I have read through the threads about this problem and it seems that the solution is to rename the file, because I wasnīt able to unregister the file. Problem is that I canīt find the file from my computer. I have changed the option from control panel to show all the hidden files, but still my searches are without results. In one post Malke recommended to find the dll-file from system32, but I only find rundll32.exe, but I havenīt had the guts to rename that file because I believe that is the wrong one.
I have already tried all the other solutions that windows and many others have posted on these forums, but really donno what to do.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite A215 laptop with FUJITSU MHY2250BH ATA device disc drive. When I go to 'My computer' the drive is there, as soon as I enter a game or a cd of any kind into the drive there is no auto play and the disc drive disappears completely from 'My Computer' I went to device manager and it is there, said its working properly. I tried to update drivers and it all up to date.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed a Lexmark 6200 printer on a Acer Laptop runing Vista Home Premium. The installation took a long time but went to completion. I used the Lexmark disk for the install. The 6200 displays on the Control Panel screen as "Ready." I made it the default. The printer is pluged into one of the USB ports.
The problem: nothing prints. I sometimes get in an error message - can't find printer. But typically, when I do File>Print nothing prints. I have tried using Works, NotePad and Open Office Writer with the same results.
I may not understand how Windows Explorer's Search (W/E Search) is supposed to work. I know how the Find in the DOS Window works, so let me start with an example using FIND. My expectation that both have similar capabilities is perhaps misplaced. In the "search for content" thread below I describe the steps I took to make sure the .DAT extension is in the index control panel, and re-indexed several times to insure that .DAT files are in the index.
I have a folder named TPL which I think has been indexed. It has about 5000 text files in it most of which happen to have the extension .DAT, and several other text files, some of which have the extensions .INC and .TXT. I know some of the files have the phrase GRID in them, some multiple times. I go to the folder I want in DOS, and get to the point where the cursor is:............

View 4 Replies View RelatedI received a notice from Facebook that a movie was taken of me at my neice's wedding, and so I went to the You Tube to view it but I was advised to download the latest version of Adobe. I did so, with no apparent result. The next time I rebooted my computer, One Care Firewall told me that the program ld08.exe was trying to access the Internet. I blocked it from doing so, and Googled ld08.exe to find out it is a virus. I can not find it (ld08.exe) in my computer anywhere, but every time I start my computer, One Care Firewall advises that it has blocked the program ld08.exe again. I can see it in my Task Manager listed in 'Processes' but I do not know enough about computers to end it.

Main problem is trying to connect to an external monitor: Viewsonic VA1912w. I cannot find any drivers which will let this happen. View 4 Replies View Related"Where" into what folder do i load a new game.? my computer loaded a game into a folder that cant be accessed.. this could be the source of many of my game problems how do i set them up to all be in the same place and have them all work .. i couldn't find it in C:/ i only found it by clicking 'Custom Download" during reinstall it showed up in a folder listed there, and i was able to track it down. it is not listed in "Un-Install Programs and Features" .. can i delete it from there, and download it somewhere else.. like the Windows Game list... which would be really handy.. how do i do that.??? sorry to be such an annoyance, i built a computer to play games and ..it seems to need tweek'n to play them......
