How To Find Wireless Internet Settings?

In WinXP Home, I could examine the details of my BT Broadband internet connection (single user with USB connection) as follows: Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab. Select a connection from the list. Click "Settings"
I then typed all the settings in a text file. So if I lost a connection, I could manually enter all the settings without needing to insert the BT installation CD. I changed to Vista at the same time that I changed to Orange Broadband (4-user wireless). The connection was set up by CD from one laptop. The other laptop just connected itself by magic, using a LAN cable.

I've connected my LCD TV to my computer through the VGA port. When I go to the ATI Catalyst control center to set up the connection, I can get the desktop background to be displayed on the TV but not the desktop icons and menu bar. I know there is a box I need to check because I've done it before but i can't seem to find it. It's possible it's not in the graphics card. How do I get the desktop menu bar and Icons to show up on the TV so I can use it as a second monitor?

I have 2 laptops and a ipod touch which are all wireless conected to my main computer which runs with windows 7.
The problem I have is that one of my laptops today decided not to connect anymore!!
This laptop runs on windows Vista Basic and was working fine this morning but as of this afternoon cannot connect to internet or email.
I have tried to re-connect but I keep on receivibg the error page stating that " windows cannot find any networks "
When I click on the link below this message which is " diagnose why windows cant find any networks" a window named windows network diagnostics appears stating " this computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured "
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem as it was working fine ( wireless ) this morning and now not?

i can't find any wireless networks. I didn't have the problem before, my computer can still connect to two wireless networks that I used in the past. Now I needed to connect to a new one. As I said I can't find any wireless networks not even those networks I can connect to.

Can't find a network ng for vista. If this is not the proper ng, point me to the proper one. I admit it, I'm not a computer guy. I recently bought a new (Vista Home Premium) PC to replace my XP PC. On the XP PC I had a wireless network I could access with my PDA and laptop from almost anywhere in my house. With the Vista PC I fail constantly. I have read a handful of web articles on how to accomplish this but I apparently am missing a step.The Netgear router is working on the Vista PC. Firewall on the laptop is (when I'm trying to get a connection) disabled. The Network status on the laptop and PDA show a good signal. How do I troubleshoot this?FWIW,'Connect to a Network' on the Vista PC and laptop show 2 networks - one secured and one unsecured. I don't know why. All I want is the secured. Can I uninstall these wireless networks and create a new one? The Vista PC also has a wired?/cabled? network to access the cable modem and NAS. Does this make a difference?

Im currently traveling and living at my uncle's house abroad. My uncle has a wireless network, but my laptop can sense every other network BUT their's.....I even got connected to wireless via my own ipod touch, my uncle's laptop (window XP).

Can someone tell me how to change my internet settings on vista? It will not let me access internet settings from the control panel(don't know why). In the control panel all of the icons also have labels , but not the internet settings.

Home or Work (Private Network) - Choose one of these locations for home [or work]... Public place (Public Network) - Choose this location for networks in public places (such as coffee shops or airports). This is manifestly wrong, as you should choose Public for Internet Connections, whether they are in a coffee shop, in at your own home or where ever; moreover, you might wish to secure even a Private Network with Public settings. The names are confusing too: Public sounds as if you are opening yourself up to everyone; Private sounds more secure.
Obviously this is the wrong way round... It took me ages (and a lot of hunting around forums like this) to figure it all out. Statements like "If there’s only one computer on your network..." don't help since the statement "network with only one computer" is surely a non-sequetur: there needs to be more than one for a network... The internet is made up of billions of computers, so technically there are billions of computers on "my" network, we just can't see each other. There is no mention at all of general internet connections, in fact. Perhaps MS could find a way to rewrite this section of Help to make it clear to people without home networks (the vast majority, probably) that their Internet settings should be Public?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to find the mac address for my wireless card in vista. I'm having some difficulty as neither ipconfig /all nor wireless card properties from device manager seems to have the info. I know I could physically look at the card and get the number, but I would really like to learn how to find it through the software.

I'm running Vista Home edition on my laptop and when I use my laptop at home, it keeps on connecting to an unsecured default wireless network, instead of connecting to my home network, which is named and is secured. I guess one of my neighbours decided to just run their wireless network like that. How can I prevent my laptop from connecting to other networks other than the ones I specify? I've looked in the settings and options in the wireless connection management utility in Vista and couldn't find a way to do that. Perhaps i didn't look hard enough,

Sony Vaio with Vista is connected wirelessly to a HOME network.
It can access all other computers. Any one of them can access the Interment.This one does not.
At work, this computer CAN access the Internet (while wirelessly connected to the COMPANY network)
Seems to be a "setting" issue?

I just received my HP laptop with wireless internet, yet I cannot connect to the internet. I am using a linksys wrt54g version 2 router. I already have a number of computers already connected wirelessly to this router with no issues. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong with this new computer. I recently upgraded my OS from Vista Home to Ultimate (a clean install). It seems as though after I have been using the internet for a while or if I am using too much bandwidth (downloading a few things or have a couple windows open) my wireless stops. I have access to the network - just the actual wireless internet stops. I can't use the diagnose feature by right-clicking as it never has a solution that actually fixes it - I've tried them all. We have several other computers in the house and they don't have problems with it - it also happens when I'm at work as well. When I attach the computer directly to the modem (even while this problem happens) the internet works fine.The only fix is restarting - but that's quite annoying and happening often. I have downloaded the newest drivers for this computer from HP (its a DV9200 CTO pn: EZ345AV) and I can't figure it out.

connection drops while i am downloading files or tring to watch a video using flashplayer internet goes "dormant" sometimes if i am extremely lucky it will hold longer then other times. i have no problem surfing the net. just "buffering" videos and downloading files i.e. patching wow or watching videos on myspace,Internet, or anywhere that invovles a flashplayer. its seems to be at random.

I am unable to connect to internet using my wireless. I have tried resetting the router and rebooting the laptop. Each time I try connecting to internet the system throws and error " the dependency service or group failed to start". I have tried using vista's diagonse and repair option, but no luck. I have tried restarting the wireless, troubleshooted drives. On doing the ipconfig /renew at the command prompt the following was seen. " No operation can be performed on wireless network connection while it has its media disconnected.No operation can be performed on bluetooth network connection while it has its media disconnected. An error occured while releasing interface loopback pseudo-interface1" On futher diagnoses i have notice that DHCP clinet service is stuck in the "STARTING" state. I am unable to stop and restart it. I have logged using the administrator.

I have been on the phone collectively for 6 hours with AT&T as well as had a technician out here to look at this problem. I have a new wireless router box. The whole At&T system went down briefly (tvs and all). When it booted back up my computer wouldn't recognize the wireless network. After getting a new box, it will now recognize the wireless network in my home. It says I am connected to the network with excellent strength but I still cannot get online. My desktop works fine and I plugged the ethernet cable into my computer and it still won't get online being hardwired to the router. My firewalls are turned off. I have Orange Broadband and an Intentel Wireless adaptor, it's an 802.11G USB adaptor. Apparently there aren't any drivers for this and x64 Vista, are there? Do I even need the drivers, can I not do it somehow through Vista?

It's the Internet, LAN and wireless. Problem is that after a time period X they just all want to go to "local only mode". Just to mention, I have three Vista laptops, which all are doing the same thing, and my only XP laptop works just fine. So it's pretty much narrowed down to Vista laptops...No matter what Microsoft wants to say.
So what happens? -> I have a private network (wireless is encrypted with WPA/PSK and the password is correct...), it connects allright and the mode is "Local and Internet". After some time, it can be two minutes or one hour, it just suddenly goes to "local only mode" and stays that way.........

32 bit Windows Vista Home and I have McAfee security. This as my sons laptop and he could not get the OS to start up. I done a system restore have since been able to log in. From that point I have tried to connect to the internet with a netgear wireless router WGR614 v6. I can establish a wireless connection, but I am unable to connect to IE. When trying to do so, I get internet explorer cannont display web page.
When I try diagnose connections I get the host may be down and windows found a problem that cannot be repaired automatically. I am running a pc with xp home through the netgear router with an ethernet cable so I know the internet connection is good. I have tried to connect in safe mode. I have done an ipconfig reset and a dns flush. I disabled my windows firewall and still have no luck.
