It called "Trojan Horse Downloader Agent2 APF". Path to file:
ProgramsFiles>Real>RealPlayerSetupau_setup6.exe
Of course I sent it to the Virus Vault. And I wondered why Real Player was just launching itself randomly.
My question is I cannot find the setup6.exe file. I guess it went to the vault? I am wondering if I should uninstall and re-install RealPlayer again?
What's the best rule of thumb to download with safety? I've heard of "mirror" sites?

"If your system is a Microsoft product and you have your 20 digit registration number, you can go to the Microsoft web site, and they will do a free scan and most likely remove any known virus such as Trojan win32.murlo." Is this true, and where would I find my 20 digit registration and what is the web site?

My Trend Micro software identified "avtmd.exe" as having a trojan horse that was identified on 1/1/2009 in the process of doing a full computer scan. My Vista software seems to work O.K. The file was quarantined, and, when I tried to clean it, it said that it couldn't be done. They recommended waiting to some future security update. Does anyone know what this file is supposed to do? Is it possible to go to the Microsoft site and download this executable again and delete the original version that is now corrupted?

I know is it seems to be shutting itself down when it has just started up due to it having a virus of some sort, a trojan was mentioned. Can someone recommend what the best course of action is in this particular case? I suggested that if the OS (Vista) is accessible then reformatting the HD may be the best thing to do. But will this get rid of the virus/trojan as well? I am aware that this will involve losing all data. I'm led to believe rather than have the original discs, PC's these days come with a seperate partition which holds the OS, which is used when reformatting is required? How do I reformat the HD from here?

Hey friends,I do understand that this is not the category in which I'am supposed to post such threads, but since this section/community is very active and consists of many professionals I thought of posting it here.I posted a thread in the other section meant for virus but unfortunately did not receive any kind of help or reply.
I downloaded a video through utorrents, when I tried to play it through 'Windows Media Player' it was'nt able to play it and a dialogue box appeared asking me to download a codec which was necessary to play that video.Since the dialogue box appeared through 'Windows Media Player' and due to my ignorance,I thought it was authorized and downloaded the codec..........

I am writing on behalf of a friend who has Windows XP on an HP desk top computer approximately 2 years old. She uses SecureIt Plus provided through her ISP. She was cleaning up her computer, deleting old cards she had made and also information she had saved from emails. These files were duplicating themselves within her trash bin; she had over 100 files in there and couldn't delete any of them. I told her to try scanning with her free spyware programs and it was either SUPERAntispyware or Malwarebytes that found TROJAN.AGENT/GEN, in addition to some adware items. After she ran these she was able to empty her trash bin but said it still reported a dll file which couldn't be deleted, although this file does not show up in the trash bin. She can't restore the file because it doesn't show. But even if she could, would she then be restoring this trojan if in fact it was located within this dll?
I know she would never have placed a dll file in her trash, so the only thing I can think of is that the trojan was found within that dll file and that's how it got into the trash. However, I don't know about Malwarebytes, but I don't think SUPERAntispyware deletes files. I think it only quarantines them. So how would it have gotten into the trash? Is there any way to clean this dll file? Is there any way to make it actually show up in the trash can?

I turned on my computer the other day and an automatic download started to update my Verizon Internet Security Suiter (FIOS). I started a scan of my computer with the update. The new Security Suite update supposedly found 29,000+ infected files with a virus named Trojan-Downloader.Win32.VB.dck? The weird thing is - When I look for the files that are supposedly infected - or the folder that these files supposedly exist in I can't find it. The virus appears to have created a folder named " ' " on my hard drive - but when I look for this folder I can't find it. Even if I view hidden folders. My computer doesn't appear to be running strangly like it is infected. But the virus scan says it is.

Now. Two days ago, a Trojan got into my computer and latched itself onto Internet Explorer and the security center, posing as a security alert for Vista. I was able to open up the main virus scanner I use (AVG free edition) and root out the Trojan, isolate it, and destroy it. The only problem is that it seems to have corrupted the security center and done other things, too. Whenever I try and open up a program normally, I get the "Chose the program you want to use to open this file" screen, with IE as the only option (even if I'm trying to open IE) unless I select the Run As Administrator tab. Windows Defender is turned off, too, and its alert says "contact your system admin to enable Windows Defender via group policy".
I thought I should post this here, because it seems to be primarily be a problem with the security of the computer. Ever since removing the Trojan the computer slows down and eventually freezes when it is connected to the Internet. Is there anything I can do, or do I have to reinstall Vista (which I'm unsure about, because my laptop came with Vista pre-installed and the Vista disc I have belongs to someone else)?

I was just going to post and see if anyone has heard of anything about Nero recently, or anything about there programs having viruses..
I've had the same Nero 7 now on 3 different computers. I got it FREE Nero 7 Premium a while back. (I don't remember why) but it is NOT illegal, it is not hacked with a keygen or something like that, that a free AV program would find as a false positive. It's just a normal Nero 7 Premium.
I've ran the same NOD32 on this computer for over a year now, with the same Nero 7 and never had a problem. but this morning I woke up to an Error, and a Virus Warning. Threat Detected in my Nero folders. something about cad/0060H795.cad or something like that.
It gave me the option to clean, and or delete. I cleaned it. But this is the first attack my current BIG RIG has ever had. So I just want to look into it to be safe.

A Trojan that Counter Spy has found, I have done 3 full scans and each time this miserable little blighter keeps coming back, and I don't know how else to get shot of it. here is a screenshot of what Counter Spy found, please ignore the Cookies one as I have told it to remove and it was successful, its just the Trojan that keeps coming back on each scan I do. As a sidenote, how do I post a screen of something that shows straight away instead of an attachment that you must click on?

nod32 doesn't recognise it avg the same my windows defender says that it found a trojan downloader/win32... and asks me what to do with it i say delete but after a while the same message comes up.
i don't really know where to find it so that i can delete it but i have noticed lots of files that the day they were last altered was from 1998 to 2006 and i got my computer in 2007. most of them are exes from things i've never heard of but some are shortcuts for things that i use in this computer. Deleting them is a way of getting rid of the virus. please notice that i don't care if i lose any personal data as long as my computer functions normally

I just bought this new HP laptop several months and now its infected with malware Trojan. A full scan on Windows defender shows that trojan is detected in some of the .dll files. I deleted 2 files on which it said trojan was detected. But next time I scanned on Windows Defender, some other .dll file showed up. Also scan on Bell Sympatico's Anti virus service, it shows no virus or spywares. My laptop is very slow than before, and also internet explorer browsers keep opening and they take me to some random antivirus sites.

I am trying to get into my laptop that has vista premium and a huge trojan installed. Everything has been disabled including being able to do a clean install. When I turn it on it asks for a password that I type in.Then it says wrong password and shuts down.Im not allowed to get into my computer for anything. Its an Acer ASPIRE Ive only had since May. Also they didnt provide a disk that would boot up a disabled system. Right now Im on my xp desktop and might as well not have a laptop for all the good its doing me.
Ive called Acer and couldnt get any help from them, even tho the com. is still in warrenty. You know the thing you call the run around, well thats what I got from Acer. They want me to pay $345.00 for a plan to have my computer fixed for up to three months! That to me is unblieveable. So here I sit trying to find a way to fix the poor excuse for a laptop myself. Im not a tech by any means and I have run out of things to try. Also if you could tell me how to get the xp desktop to burn a cd to reinstall vista.

This trojan is identified by Windows LiveOne scan. It is not removed, however. This trojan is not seen by Norton360 full scan (N360 being too busy trying to eliminate the one lonely tracking cookie we need here to access our email). This trojan is not seen by Malwarebytes full scan, either. Does anyone have any info what is this trojan and should it be removed (and how)? It does not appear to be doing anything bad, but not Sure...not sure.
