Windows UI Bugs: Task Bar Dragged From RH Side To Bottom

This is a list of Windows Vista User Interface (UI) Bugs we need resolved before upgrading from Windows XP. I have also added a list of Flaws I think are important (before I use windows Vista personally). These were found within the space of 3 hours when I first used Windows Vista, and had to customise it.
1. CRITICAL BUG: When untick; Start Menu Properties ??? Keep the taskbar on top of other windows, windows do not always go in front of task bar ??? this makes this customisation function useless as there are times when you will be working on a document and the text you are typing in is not visible as the taskbar lies on top.
2. BUG: task bar dragged from RH side to bottom, task bar no longer dragable (workaround: have to lock and unlock taskbar)
3. BUG: Start Menu - clicking 'favourites', then clicking 'recent items' stops showing content. (workaround: need to close and reopen start menu to fix this. This bug assumes favorites menu has been made visible on the start menu......
it only has 'task status' on top and 'end task/switch to/new task' on bottom, if i Right Click on the tool bar icon i get 'close/always on top' no other functions. how do i get the old display back, and how'd this happen to begin with i did a restore to an earlier date. the good box came up, but after i deleted the ASUS crap off it this one returned.
I tried searching the forums, but couldn't find a solution.I often work with two windows at once (i.e. firefox and excel) and have been trying to figure out how to dock them next to each other so I can work with them easier. I assume this is a simple fix, I just haven't been able to find it yet.
to avoid having to right click on taskbar and choose from shortcut menu? I'd like to have a shortcut sitting in the Quick Launch toolbar for that feature.
Everybody seems to be having the same problems in windows mail, so my question is when will microsoft release the patch to fix the problems. 1. Auto complete only works when it feels like it. 2. Cant delete contacts. 3. Cant send messages to newgroups, I am sure the list goes on and on...
My problem is this: I am running Windows Vista 64 bit on an ASUS laptop and, after some "experimenting" with binding EXE's on XP and moving them over to Vista, I started receiving the dreaded error message "This program has failed to start because it's side by side configuration is incorrect". Now, I'm no noob when it comes to computers. But I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this problem. THe most common solution I have found is to install the Visual C++ Redistributable, thing is. When I run the installation EXE, the same error appears. I have attempted running in safe mode, system restore, and all the usual options, and every thread with this same problem is often ignored, therefore I have not been able to find a solution.
after three months somethong strange has happened in Windows Mail. The folders on the right hand side of the screen have vanished. (inbox,sent,deleted etc.) I can get them back by clicking on local folders and then double clicking each one in turn. However when I close down W.M. and start up again, I have to go through that process again. I tell you what, I had Outlook Express for years and it never gave me any trouble.
ran AVG virus scan and Ad-ware checks, no fixes yet. Issues:
1. the IE page will automatically scroll down by itself continuously, even after I page up or scroll up. 2. While typing on an IE page or email, the cursor will jump from the current position to the bottom of my page at any given moment.
Here is a run down of my set up and something interesting at the end.
My main PC in my office has 6TB of drive space. It stores about 200 DVD's of my 1000 collection. I have 4 XBOX 360's in my home and my home is completely wired in cat6.
The movies are stored as mpegs so the 360 units can stream them. I use Media Center with MyMovies2 for the collection interface. I was never happy with the picture quality and loss of bonus features with the mpegs. So it was time to build a killer streamer. The HTPC I just built , specs below, is to stream from the 6TB PC as well as play any discs I have not ripped yet. MyMovies2 also has the ability to stream Blu-Ray and HD-DVD ISO files when used in conjunction with Power DVD, AnyDVD and Daemon Tools.

Asus PQ5-EM Motherboard-Intel G45 Chipset onboard HDMI Video /Audio Intel E8600 CPU ADATA DDR2-800 4GB Asus Blu-Ray Drive
Currently the Asus P5Q-EM is running Vista 64, MyMovies2(client), AnyDVD, Daemon Tools and Power DVD 7.3.
If you open up available HDMI Audio Devices I have 2. One is the Intel that Actually works and the other is a Microsoft that says it works, but even if I set it as default it gives nothing. So the Intel HDMI Audio is Default. I have it configured to 7.1 speaker set up.
In this Set up Power DVD and Media player work great. I can stream Blu-Ray and play anything at all in 7.1 or 5.1 what ever the source has to offer.
Now in Media Center I go to configure the audio set up and the first question it asks is what type of connector are you using for audio. RCA, SPDIF, Coax ETC but no HDMI. Whatever I choose give me no audio in media center and the videos will lock up in about 1 minute.
So I start the set up and then cancel. Once you lose the audio it is gone for navigation within Media Center also. Restarting Media center gives you back your navigating audio.
Now if I go back to Audio Devices available and select Intel HDMI and change it to 2CH. I then get full audio and 5.1 from the mpeg movies through Media center. But now Blu-Rays only give 2CH no matter what, whether streamed or from the disc.
Ok, here is the funny thing.After playing with settings and drivers for awhile, I had the Intel HDMI set for 7.1 and then tried Power DVD both from disc and streaming Blu-Ray, worked perfectly, Tried Media Player with the Mpegs, worked perfectly, Opened Media Center then My Movies2 and loaded up a Blu-Ray stream, It worked perfectly. The I loaded up an mpeg movie in my movies and it played perfectly in 5.1. I then tried several mpegs and they all worked.
What I found is when you go into Media Center, If the first thing I play is a Blu-Ray stream it somehow tells media center how to hook up correctly to the HDMI Audio. Once I stop the Blu-Ray stream I can play any movie I have stored on the 6TB server with no problem through Media Center. Once I close Media Center it goes back to wanting 2CH. As long as I play A Blu-Ray first in Media center then everything will work like it is supposed to.
I have a bat file that runs without errors on the command line. Uses robocopy to back up document drectory. The scheduler history states it started, action completed with an error code 16 (don't know what this means) and task successfully completed? But I do not think it is actually executing the bat file.
When I open task scheduler a pop up says "an error has occurred for task MCVsurveyReminder4 Error message the specified name is not vailid.". It repeats 4 time when i click OK and is followed by 4 of "an error has occurred for task MCVregistrationReminder4 Error message the specified name is not vailid". And finally by "an error occurred for task reminders - username Error message the specified account name is not valid"
I think it is something to do with a task to register my vaio or take part in a survey but I cannot get rid. It is in task scheduler local and there is no delete. I found a similar situation on the vaio site but cannot find now.Found it http://club.vaio.sony.eu/clubvaio/gb...7&lastpage=yes
In Windows XP Ctrl+Alt+Del brought up Task Manager, In Vista it takes you to an intermediate menu with one option to Start Task Manager. Is there a way to bypass the intermediate screen?
Is there any way to have Windows Task Manager loaded at startup in the taskbar? If this is not possible, is there any way to have a shortcut of the Windows Task Manager (to put in the Quick Launch)? Or, is there any way to have it open with Ctrl+Alt+Del like before, or with some other desktop shortcut?
i have a windows vista home premium cd. it came with a product key but i already used that. i wanna know if i can use that same cd to install windows vista but using a different product key that displays under my laptop.
My max display resolution is 1280x800 (fujitsu generic monitor), and it seems I can't see the bottom of the popup where you change/edit signatures. Isn't there supposed to be somewhere in these options where you can click an OK or apply button?
I just re installed Vista Home Premium. It is an upgrade copy. I did a clean install which I have done many times before. I just noticed this morning in the lower right corner Windows Vista (tm) Evaluation Copy. I want to rename /Desktop/Linux_Mag_Bugs.eml to /Desktop/Bugs.txt A right click on the icon does not give me the opportunity to change the suffix. Question: How can you change a file suffix?
is there a way to default windows mail so that instead of starting to type at the top, it starts at the bottom of the message? You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
I know that sp1 is for evaluation and for testing and all, but is there anyway we can remove that watermark at the bottom. I know its something with the .mui file, and i have been able to get rid of it in x86 vista sp1, x64 seems as if there is something different.
My laptop inspiron 1515 (I know it starts with 15) has below it, a switch you can make "lock" in place and also has a picture of a lock next to it. I pushed it all the way and it locked in place, and I can't get it to go back where it was or unlock. Felt like breaking the thing but I thought maybe someone here would know what it's for.
I have had a corrupted system for some reason so had to remove everything and restart. However. The Vista Product Key on the bottom of my Laptop has faded so a few of the letters look unrecognisable. I have tried what I believe it to be and it doesn't work. As I have not exactly lost my Product Key, Is there a way to get this product key from somewhere without paying for a new one ?? I have activated it with microsoft and provided my details so should it be registered to me somewhere ??
On my desk window my lower toolbar is no longer accesable. The on with the clock, network e.d. in. Also the quick launch icons the minimized windows are no longer clickable. If I click on it I recieve the error sound. Only the windows main icon works on the lower left side. It is very irritating to need to open a window that is minimized via the taskmanager to activate the window. What's wrong with my toolbar and how can I restore it?
I created a signature in windows mail and it is inserted in every mail and reply at the bottom of the mail. However, I always reply on top of a message so that the person who receives my reply doesn't need to scroll down to read the (latest) reply. Now, I have to move the signature from the bottom to the end of my reply, above the original message I received. Is there any way to insert the signature on top of a reply instead of at the bottom?
I am unsure what has caused my problem, so I was hoping someone may be able to shed some light on it for me. I am running, Vista Business 32bit. Everything had been working fine, but without any changes to hardware, software or drivers I now have resolution problems. Firstly, when I boot my pc up it all goes well until just after the ???Windows Vista??? logo at the bottom of the screen comes up (during boot) the monitor goes into standby mode. Now the only way I have found to get my monitor out of this is to unplug the DVI cable from the back of my tower and plug in back in. The monitor then runs as normal ??? SO THATS ONE PROBLEM. Secondly, when the above problem first happened (and this is still happening) my resolution is stuffed. My monitor can go up to 1680x1050 and my Video Card can easily handle this. (Which it had been doing). But now I can only achieve 1024 x 768.
i have a dell xps 630i thats running windows vista. on friday, around 230 eastern time, my computer crashed. when i went to turn it back on tho, i saw something different with the dell writing, and the intel logo on the bottom right corner. they both were covered with dots eveywhere. After that screen passes by, i got a different new screen that i never got before. it was a phoenix awardbios screen. and below that it said, floppy disk(s) fail (40).
never seen that before. when i try to start my computer up, i can either go to start up repair or start normally. when i do the start up repair( ive done it 9 times already) it says my computer cant fix the problem, and then i can either send or not the error report. and when i start it up normally, it goes to a blank screen. and then my computer goes into power save mode. anyone know whats up with it and how i can fix it.
I can't see all the text in certain Vista screens and cannot access the bottom of the screen (i.e. sounds, DPI settings). I couldn't install the Vista SP1 because I cannot access the area to check off "I Accept". These screens cannot be made larger and have no sidebar sliders. In DPI Scaling box (which also does not show all text), the "Default scale 96DPI" choice has a strikeout line through it and it is grayed out. The only choice is "Larger scale 120DPI". My monitor is about 4 years old, 17" LCD Flat, eTronic brand 1710. Monitor settings in Hardware is PNP Generic.
