I'm using Windows Mail 6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205) on Vista Home Premium SP2. I have an irritating problem with one of the Usenet groups I subscribe to. I have around 10 threads I'm currently watching, none of them have any unread messages-however the group is still highlighted in bold red text in the folders pane. How do I find out which message is causing this propagation?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem with XP/OE and it seems to exist with a new install of Vista / Windows Mail. After a while, a newsgroup starts showing an unread count when it shouldn't. For example, at the moment, m.p.vc.ide.general shows that I have 3 unread. When I select it, no posts show up. If I do "catch up" from the right click menu, it clears but it comes back next time I select the group.
It seems that this happens after running the automatic "Windows mail can optimize" thing. A second thing is that "catch up" seems to take a lot longer after running this optimize. Clicking on a message, doing a select all, and then mark as read works immediately. This also existed with XP pro. Is there any way to reset whatever is causing this?

Some newsgroups, like microsoft.public.cert.itpro.mcitp always show as having unread messages. The bottom status bar will say something like '151 message(s), 0 unread, 23 not downloaded'. So, I do a catch up, and the next time it updates, it shows as having unread messages again, but it won't download them.
I am clicking on the forum links and just being taken to a page they say is unavailable?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWe are having trouble adding new groups in Windows Mail. For some reason, it no longer gives us the option of choosing to add a group instead of a single contact. I've clicked on "File" then "New" but "Contact Group" or "Group" is not an option, nor is there a group button on the toolbar. Is there a problem with our settings? We used to be able to add them and now we can't unless we copy an existing group.

It brings up all the threads I have ever participated in lieu of only the updated threads. The RP numbers under the avatars have also disappeared. I have not changed anything in my settings or set-up but just recently one of my contacts say they just get what appears to be a blank email from me with a 1kb attachment image001.gif. However, if they open my email and click Forward, when the new window opens to put the forward address in, the message I sent can be read, with all the formatting etc I used. They say they haven't changed anything in their setup.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking (DNS) is *30* *TIMES* more accurate than Windows Speech Recognition (WSR) on any use where unusual words are involved, such as medical usage. Why? - because the "scan documents" feature of WSR is broken, just plain does not work. On a 600 word medical dictation, I get 30 text mistakes when I use WSR; I get ZERO text mistakes using DNS. It takes a long time to find and correct those 30 text mistakes.
That is a poor 95% text accuracy, a person would be better off just typing everything in. The same document scanning feature in DNS works fine. If I did not use that feature, then DNS would have almost as high an error rate as WSR does. The same document scanning feature in "MacSpeech Dictate 1.5.8", a speech app that only runs on Macs, works fine also, no text errors at all on a 600 word medical dictation, thanks to its "scan documents" feature actually working........
I have recently encountered a situation where sent messages randomly are not put into the Sent Items folder of Windows Mail even though that option is checked in my Options settings. This problem never occurred until about two days ago. I have unchecked and rechecked this option and rebooted the PC, but no resolution.
As I said it occurs randomly, but more often than not. For example, I can send several test messages to the same receipient that correctly get put into the Sent Items folder, and then without changing any settings whatsoever one to the same receipient does not get placed there.
I can receive messages but I can not send. I've tryed everything but no result.

My monitor is set at 1152 X 720 pixels. The default is 1440 x 900, but that makes everything so super tiny that I can't see text too well. Text size is set at default or standard. The Windows dialog boxes are all cut off so that at least one third of them cannot be seen. From using old Windows OS systems in the past, I can guess at what is unseen and just use the tab key to select "Ok, Cancel, and Apply".
But some boxes, for example, the "Sound Theme" dialog box has a whole section below of selecting sounds for events and I cannot see any of it.
Here's the clincher. Just to adjust my sound theme, I set my monitor to the microscopic 1440 x 900 setting and still cannot see the dialog boxes. The text size set on default.
What settings are these boxes viewable?
I should point out that my Sister and a couple of friends have

It's only in certain programs and it's only when attempting to left-click drag.80% of the time i can not select text in Wordpad. And some other programs have behaved bad with left-click drag too. I have a Logitech MX510 mouse. I do not think they give drivers away online for x64 because they are assumed to come with Vista.
