The Group Policy Client Service Failed The Logon

Feb 28, 2010

I stupidly deleted C:UsersMyName tuser.dat. Now when I try to log on to my account, I get the message "The Group Policy Client service failed the logon." I am now logged on to my Administrator account to post this message. All of my files that I use daily are in the MyName account. I deperately need to be able to access the MyName account. How can I restore the ntuser.dat file?

After posting this, I checked C:UsersMyName tuser.dat and saw that it is now listed after I rebooted the computer, but I still cannot login to my account.

Group Policy Client Failed Logon

Oct 20, 2009

When I attempt to logon I get the following message: "The Group Policy Client Failed The Logon." (The only way I can logon is to hit the F8 key and go to "Last Known Good Configuration.". Every solution I search for seems to believe this is ONLY a problem for systems with multiple USER ACCOUNTS. I have this problem and I have only one User Account on my computer. The Guest Account is OFF. There has never been a Guest Account set up. I am the Administrator. I even tried turning the User Account Control to OFF but it didn't make any difference.

User Profile Service Failed The Logon

Jan 5, 2010

I have had a Lenovo 3000 n100 laptop with what I think is Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit (does that sound right?) for a few years. Within the first year I had it my hard drive crashed, I managed to save it but I lost all my files. Today I tried to log onto my administrator account for the first time in a few weeks and I recieved the error "User Profile Service Failed the Logon". I searched for a solution and this is what I found..

Quote: 1. I closed down.

2. Turned computer on and immediately pressed F8 repeatedly until I got "Advanced Boot Options".

3. used the down arrow to select "Safe Mode" and pressed enter.

4. computer then opened eventually in the funny look of safe mode, with

a "Help" window.

5. In the help window there is an underlined "What is System Restore?" Clicking on that gave me the answer and "Click to open System Restore"

6. I clicked on that and a new window came up recommending restoring to a previous state before windows update which I had done before the fault occurred.............

The User Profile Service Failed Logon

Sep 11, 2009

I recently installed an automatic upgrade and now I'm getting "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded" when I turn on the computer. My only option is to click on an OK key. The computer then gives one logon key and when I click on it give me the USER PROFILE CANNOT BE LOADED message again. Only options given with logon key are improve use of screen and restart, sleep, hibernate, and shut down key. It will not let me start in safe mode and will not give me access to the START button. I've tried every option available to me; even tried ctrl/alt/delete with no success. PLEASE HELP!

The User Profile Service Failed The Logon

Mar 24, 2008

Dell Inspiron, Microsoft Vista Home Premium, 1918 MB RAM, 2.8 Windows Experience Index, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55, 1.80 GHz, updates current as of March 24, 2008. Attempting to log on to my main user account produces the following screen. The User Profile service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. OK Microsoft Vista Home Premium.

I cannot get into the account, even after logging in as Administrator and resetting the password for the account. Anyone know what has happened and how to fix it? I have copied all the user documents including AppData to another account, but it is still a pain and I would like to know how to prevent it.

User Profile Service Failed Logon

Jun 25, 2008

I'm still with WinXP, but been to help friend with adding extra RAM to his Vista Basic 512mb Ram. I took out the 512 mb and replaced it with 2 x 1gb RAM bought from Crucial UK for his PC. There has only ever been 1 account, and at bootup the password for this account was asked for. We entered the KNOWN password (it's never been changed from new, approx 11 months) and we got ;- "User profile service failed the logon, user profile cannot be loaded", which slowed us down a bit :-) We took an option to "reset password - put disc in drive with password on" (or something similar), but he has never created such a disc. To repeat - the password entered 'was' correct.......

Windows Search 4 Update Profile Service Has Failed The Logon

Apr 2, 2009

A few days ago, Windows Update Automatic updates installed an update on my computer called:

Windows Search 4.0 for Windows Vista (KB940157)

When I restarted my computer after this update I tried to log on and got this message:

The user profile service has failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

I fixed this by booting into the F8 restore options on my Dell Laptop and used system restore to repair the problem

Today Windows Update Installed that same update again and the same problem arose which I again fixed with system restore.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this, like why should this update be causing my User Profile not to load?

Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit

User Profile Was Not Loaded Correctly, Service Failed The Logon

Sep 13, 2009

Ive been having endless problems with my vista. Firstly, I had the error message "Your user profile was not loaded correctly! You have been logged on with a temporary profile." for a good month or so, I was in the middle of exams and didn't want to risk trying to fix it myself, I was advised the best option would be just to reinstall vista, but I wasn't sure the best way to go about that either. Now on my laptops first birthday, I stopped getting this error message, and started enjoying usual computing again, until I started getting this message instead.

"The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."

If I complete a system restore a few times I can access my account again, but after a day or so I start getting the error message again. All my old files (from before the error messages started appearing) are under my old user folder which I can access in users. I renamed it at some point during the time of the first error message. I thought that because of this I could delete my main account, and make my secondary account an administrator instead. (not sure if thats the right way to go about things, as the first option the thread for this error provided was not working) and now I cannot access my control panel, or windows updates, to tamper with user accounts.

User Profile Service Failed The Logon - Multiple Tuturials Tried, None Worked!

Well, I have the following, known, error: "The service User Profile-Service failed the logon. The User Profile could not been loaded" (note I've got the Dutch version, so my error messages may be a bit confusing ^^) I've already tried multiple tuturials to fix this, containing tut's of your Administrator Brink. None worked. Now, what happens to be:

After creating the profile through the User Aaccount Management console, I choose for the option "Logon to other user", and try to login to my newly created account. After typing the pass the above error message appears. I only have my (first) admin account that works, but I want to have more accounts on my notebook............

Login: "User Profile Service Failed Logon. Access Denied" Message

Jul 23, 2009

My administrator account is my only account on my Dell XPS M1530 laptop. When I try to login I get the "User Profile Service Failed Logon. Access Denied" message. I have attempted to logon in safe mode and it still won't let me logon. Boot the computer in Safe Mode by restarting and repeatedly pressing the F8 key Log in to the built-in Administrator account. If you do not have this account enabled, try logging in to your corrupt account in Safe Mode…it worked for me. Instead of continuing on while logged in to this account, please take the time to enable the built-in Administrator account. To do this, click the Start button in the bottom left corner, type ‘cmd’ in the search area, right-click on the command prompt, and select “Run as administrator”. In the command prompt, type ‘net user administrator /active:yes’ and press enter. Now log off and log back in as Administrator. Once this is done, follow the directions under “Option One: Fix the User Account Profile” at the following link: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Screen Saver, Cannot Get Group Policy

Apr 20, 2010

I cannot get group policy to initiate the screensaver on one of our vista business sp1 machines. I've done extensive research and found only solutions that revolve around updating the HID-compliant mouse driver. Now, the machines we have do not use wireless mice and all of them are nearly identical. I've looked through the event viewer but cannot find any sort of task that comes from group policy that locks the machine. I did find eventID 124 "Task triggered by locking the workstation" but its not clear that this is coming from group policy. Regardless, the machine in question never has a log in the event viewer about this task.

Group Policy In Lesser Vista Versions

Mar 30, 2009

Group policy editor dll is there, but not gpedit.msc on Vista Hom Premium 64 bit

Hmmmm I wonder if this is one of those things like ShadowExplorer where the facility is there but not accessible without a utility? I say that because I notice on Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP1 gpedit.dll is there, just not the .msc applet. Anyone know if a util is there to access it or if it's even useful on Home Premium? I'm thinking the guy who did ShadowExplorer took it upon himself to get at the goodies even though they weren't supposed to work in lesser versions. I just don't know that much about group policy stuff to know if it's generally all that useful.

(just wondering if the gpedit.dll is there for a reason other than inertia)

Share DVD Drive On Wireless Network (Group Policy?)

Feb 18, 2010

I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem. I have a Win7 Home Premium 32bit netbook and a Vista Home Premium 64bit laptop on a wireless network. I'm able to share files, folders, and a printer with no problem, but I can't seem to share the DVD drive on the laptop. I want to be able to install software on the Win7 netbook using the Vista laptop's DVD drive over the network. The DVD drive is shared and given full control permission. It shows up on the Win7 netbook, but when I try to access it, it says Windows cannot access (drive name). You do not have permission to access (drive name). Contact your network administrator to request access.

After browsing the net for a solution, I think an entry in the Vista registry is restricting access to the drive through a group policy. I saw on another forum where changing the Default value to 0 may correct this issue. I also changed the ValueType value to 0. Neither worked for me. Then I noticed that DisplayName value, @wsecedit.dll,-59098. (See picture) I researched and found out that it had something to do with a Group Policy restriction. Since there is no Group Policy Editor for Vista Home Premium, could I simply delete that entry? How else could I change or edit that? (I saw on this forum where someone is working on Group Policy Editor for all versions of Vista).

Diagnostic Policy Service Not Working

Mar 23, 2008

I have the Diagnostic Policy Service (DPS) set to automatically start, but it never shows that it's running. When I try to start it manually, it starts and then stops with a message that says that some services just stop when they are not in use by other programs. There are no error messages on the Event Viewer that are related to this. (Just informational messages showing that it started and another showing that it stopped). This service used to work, but for some unknown reason just decided to quit functioning. Does anyone have a clue as to what's happening? I've Goggled it and have found others that have the same problem, but no solutions were located.

DNS Client Service Disabled? HP Network Devices Support?

Mar 19, 2009

Reviewing Services on my Vista Ultimate 64-bit machine I noticed that the DNS Client is disabled? I have a wireless router configured to the laptop and to the printer and have for some times been experiencing disconnection problems to the laptop and loosing the printer connectivity completely until I unplug the router, wait, and plug it back in--which will restore connectivity until the next time.

Shouldn't the DNS Client be enabled? Also noticed in Services I found HP Network Devices Support is set to Automatic (Delayed Start). Could this be what is causing the printer (C7280 All-in-One) to write so many (hundreds in days) .log entries in
WindowsTemp?

The User Profile Service Service Failed The Login

Jan 24, 2010

I have the following error message when trying to login to vista on my laptop:

The User Profile Service service failed the login.

User profile cannot be loaded.

Just before the problem happened I was working to remove the Anti Virus Live virus from my laptop via the techsupportforum.com forum.

Two things I did within the hour of the problem happening are:

1. I ran the malware removal program OTL

See step 5 at (http://tinyurl.com/pr92qn)

2. I cleared and set system restore's cash-

as instructed in post#23 on my techsupportforum.com thread

(Anti Virus Live on my Laptop - Page 2 - Tech Support Forum)

Further details-I can and am able to login to Safe Mode I do not have a program called System Restore in the System Tools folder In Safe Mode I was able to change my password, but in normal mode I get the same error message I did windows updates and then tried to remove some of those updates, with only a few files that wouldn't allow me to delete them. Thank you for visiting my thread. If anyone has any ideas on how I can fix my problem it would be great to hear about them.
