View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up an account but when it gets to the POP3 & SMTP I'm not quite sure what to enter there. It's very hard for me to send out attachments or just general mail unless I have it. I'm using Windows Vista and I do have an hotmail email account. You can respond back to that email which is mz_nette2fine4u@hotmail.com I'll check it periodically to see if anyone has responded back to me.

Also, the Windows Vista computer will only receive email, I get an error message when I try to send:

I am set up his e-mail with Windows Mail but I don't know what the Pop3 or SMTP for those e-mail accounts are. He uses one email from att.net and another e-mail for live.com... does anybody knows this off the top of their head? I hate to call AT&T on this as it will be like a good half an hour for them to get to the phone and M$ would be another year.

I am getting error 0x800CCC78 when trying to send via SMTP Port 587, I am within the firewall, so this is definitely a problem with the Windows Mail program. Outlook Express works on this port. The server is Exchange 2007.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWell im very new to windows mail, in fact only a few hours, and trying to set up the email has proven to be a real headache. On outlook express, my husband and i had seperate email accounts, we logged in to them seperate and for some reason i dont appear to be able to do this with windows mail.I put all our info in as you do when adding an account and did this twice one with my details and one with my husbands (pop3, smtp email address etc) when i opened up windows mail, all the mail was going in to one box and not serperate. I changed it so we had to enter the password each time to login thinking this might open it up as serperate, no. how i get round this, i know there must be a way, but im getting so frustrated with it now, i cant see what im looking at, ive been trying for so long.

Aol says to use: The basic information that you need to setup using IMAP and POP3 is as follows: Your e-mail address is screenname@aol.com or screenname@aim.com. Be sure to include the @aol.com or @aim.com suffix. The incoming mail (POP) server address is: imap.aol.com and imap.aim.com for IMAP, and pop.aol.com or pop.aim.com for POP3. Check the box for leaving messages on the server. The outgoing mail (SMTP) server address is: smtp.aol.com or smtp.aim.com, port: 587. Your user name is your AOL or AIM screen name. Your password is your AOL?? or AIM?? password-------I typed all the fields up to the outgoing info. the box would no accept : smtp.aol.com, port 587.
