I receive an error "an error is preventing this slide show from playing" The settings are pointed at usersusernamepictures If I change to settings to ANY of the subfolders slide show works.File types within the folders have been verified. this problem is NOT about the number of pictures within the folder?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have 4 family laptops with Vista - 3 with home premium. All are current with updates. My wife's is the best, even though her laptop is a cheap ($289) Acer Celeron. It does cool transitions with the screen saver slide show. The others are the more traditional - simple transitions - sometimes annoying monochrome - sometimes expanding the pictures so the edges are cropped. How do I get the good features on all my laptops? Also, they do not all have the same selection of Gadgets available for the side-bar. Is it normal for every Vista laptop to be a little different?

I need to give a presentation in July. Can the Premium version be used to do a presentation? Or do I need a program like Power Point. My other interest in Premium is the ability to save slide shows to DVD. Basic doesn't have that feature.

When I run it in Slide Show mode, the colors are great. Is there a way to change that background color?

The cool thing i saw on that Mac was that, when not in use for a few seconds, the screen saver or the power saver doesn't appear, but first the brightness of the screen got to its minimum and then the screen went into power saver mode.
Is there a way to make my Vista do that as well? So instead of a screen saver, it would just turn the brightness to its lowest point and after a few minutes, it would go completely dark to save energy?
I know this is a Vista news group but I haven't been able to find a Windows 7 group so maybe one of you guys can answer my question. I have the power settings to never put computer or screen to sleep and there is no screen saver setup. When I leave my computer alone for awhile the screen goes black. This never happened with Vista when setup this way why is Windows 7 doing this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having a very wierd issue with vista's screen saver. So basically when I leave the comp idle it goes into screen saver then turns off the monitor after 15 mins. Sometimes, more often than not, I come back and move the mouse and hit a few keys on the keyboard and nothing. The monitor wont come out of standby I try turning it off and back on, and nothing. I have the latest drivers for everything in my system and I checked the power management settings and they both are able to wake the computer up. I have a G15 keyboard and I keep the leds on and when this happens the leds are off and the lazer for the mouse is off too.

I didn't have this problem with windows xp. I want into preferences and just told it when to stop the screen saver.

Also, when it installs, even when I select Windows/System32 it doesn't install there and goes to the 64 folder. View 5 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having some trouble with my screen saver. I have the picture viewer as my preferred screen saver but it doesn't seem to work at all. The preview image shows that I should be seeing something, but when I click the "preview" button, the screen goes black and doesn't cycle through anything. It is as though the screen saver is activated, but not cycling. All other screen savers work except the picture viewer. I use a nvidia 9300 GE, which I just updated the drivers for about 2 days ago.

View 3 Replies View RelatedCan anyone explain why Windows periodically freezes when the screen saver is running? At first I thought it was due to the Windows Live Photo Gallery. After running for several hours (overnight, for e.g.), it would freeze on one picture. Usually moving the mouse would eventually close the screen saver and I'd return to the desktop.
I then changed to a regular screen saver, Mystify. Usually this isn't a problem, but today when I moved the mouse, the screen saver froze. I couldn't soft boot, actually had to shut down manually. This is the second time this has happened.
I've checked whether I'm using the latest video driver using device manager, and it says everything is up to date. I'm using NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430, driver version 7.15.11.7530. Could there be a device conflict? How would I be able to tell?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot get group policy to initiate the screensaver on one of our vista business sp1 machines. I've done extensive research and found only solutions that revolve around updating the HID-compliant mouse driver[COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important][/COLOR][/COLOR]. Now, the machines we have do not use wireless mice and all of them are nearly identical. I've looked through the event viewer but cannot find any sort of task that comes from group policy that locks the machine. I did find eventID 124 "Task triggered by locking the workstation" but its not clear that this is coming from group policy. Regardless, the machine in question never has a log in the event viewer about this task.

After a while however this feature stopped working. Then after a double virus/spyware attack I decided to make a fresh installation of Vista. However, the slideshow feature still will not work.
