Overclocking: Changing The Clock Speed Reflash The Main Bios

I have an inspiron 1545 with a hd 4330 with 256 mb gddr3 VRAM. I tried to extract the bios but GPU-Z said bios reading not supported i heard somewhere that pc manufacturers cuts of the read/write pins of the GPU Some gu ys told me that in some laptops the Video BIOS is a part of the main bios. If it is true what if I extract the video bios from my main bios setup file & after changing the clock speed reflash the main bios. By the way my bios version is A14

I have a Asus engtx 275 and was overclocking it my final clocks are 723/1404/1257 All the Quote: As far as the GeForce GTX 275 goes .. it's a pretty darn nice overclocker. We bumped the core to 743MHz vs. 632MHz standard, the shader clock is now 1605MHz vs. 1404MHz standard and the memory is running at 1282MHz (2564 effective) vs. 1134MHz standard. Is there something in Vista that would reduce clock speed for performance/efficiency purposes? I have new build with E6750 processor that is clocked at 2667 with FSB of 333 and multiple of 8. Which BIOS shows. However, CPU-Z, and the motherboard utility Easy Tune5 from Gigabyte, show running at 2000 with multiple of 6 -- and will not "overclock" back up to 2667. Vista device manager lists at 2667.

I just bought a new pc with Vista Home Premium, it came with: 1GB PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM, expandable to 4GB. I wanted more memory so I bought a 2GB kit PC2-*5300* DDR2 SDRAM, because it was on sale for $60. The 6400 speed would have cost me over $200. The salesman assured me it would work fine and I wouldn't notice any difference. I installed it when I got home and everything works great, no problems. But I still can't stop wondering if the difference in speed WOULD matter. Can anyone explain, or provide a link explaining, when, if ever, I would benefit from the faster memory. I mostly use my PC for surfing the web, email, and some photo editing.

I have Vista x64 Ultimate and I'm having internet connection issues. My laptop is the HP Pavillion dv7. My ISP tells me everything is fine on his end. I have a router (Linksys model BEFW11S4) 2.4 Ghz - 802.11b. When I connect the wire from my modem directly to my laptop, I get internet speeds of 900 Kbps. But when I use the router, the speed goes down to 300 Kbps. Is there a setting in Vista that could be doing this? According to Linksys, I should be able to attain 900 Kbps with the router. The laptop comes with a wireless adapter (Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100AGN).

I have been building computers for a while now and have not had any problems so far that I could not solve. Now I don't know where to start. I have purchased the following items:......Now when I try to install the vista 64 bit I get the famous BSOD! Mostly with the error message I stated in the title. I dont know what to do. Does anyone have any information for me?? ....65N Rast to disable the TBL patch in the BIOS in order for this to work. I do not know where to diable this patch on my mainboard. My daughter has forgotten her password for her laptop. She has Windows Vista.When you turn on her laptop it comes up asking for a password straight away, this is the one that she's forgotten.
I thought that I could make a reset password disc from a friends computer who has Vista, but this doesn't work.
It allows me to put in a new password and question hint, but when I click next it comes up with 'an error occured while wizard was attempting to set the password for this user account'. Is this because I've copied it from another computer?
I can change her password as I don't really want to do a system restore as she has all her homework and pictures on there and don't want her to loose it.

Using Vista 64 I want to completley reformat my harddrive and reinstall vista but it doesnt seem to want to let me delete everything it wants to backup some files and put them in a windows.old folder. I obtained a virus that cant be removed by any program (I've literaly tried everything spent days trying) I just want to reformat with no backups. I remember reformating reinstalling windows XP by using a dos command after bios like /reformat C: or something? How do I completely reformat my main drive in Vista?

Doing some partition work a few days ago, and somehow lost the boot for my main system. D was my main system, as you can see it holds a lot of applications and information, "C" is a fresh install. Question is can I get "D" to reboot, it doesn't show in msconfig/boot. I know I can transfer bit by bit, but its a long winded job, I feel there must be a way to repair reboot. Tried the system disc Repair mode, only shows system on "C". 2 hard discs, "C" and "F" on one drive "D"on the other.

The main hard drive on my pc that has the operating system on and everything is begining to fail and i need to sort it out before i cant use the disk anymore. The disk is in warrenty so i will be able to get it replaced but not all the things on it.
How can i backup my operating system and all of the programs and files on it, i have another hard drive that i can use as a backup but im not sure how to do it.

so here is my problem. I partitioned my c drive to make room for a test windows 7 install. well apparently my DVD burner hates me, so i never got the chance to try it out. The partition is 30GB. Now it says free space. but i cant extend my main partition back to it was. It says it's an extended partition. Do i have to make it primary to extend the c drive? And if so, how would i go about that? It also asked me, when not a drive, if i wanted to delete the partition... Would that make it primary? It says the partition will become inaccesible if you delete it...

Sometimes when I install drivers I get the message that my BIOS is out of date (including updates from AMD) if I go to the Phoenix site it says go to the motherboard manufacturer or run Biosagent if you use this you pay for the update but you do get this info so is it worth e-mail gateway support, using the boisagent or just leave well alone.

I'm having a problem with Vista business that's driving me crazy. At work I have Vista business on a main machine (called MAIN). It's a Dell Vostro and it came pre-installed with Vista Business, 4 GB RAM, 200 GB hard drive. I have patient management and imaging software on it and I have up to 7 computers that connect to MAIN to access this software. I have all the sharing and security settings for "Everyone" and I can connect with all seven computers most of the time. But everyday, one or two of the workstation computers (running Vista basic), will be kicked off and I get an error message when I try to reconnect to MAIN "No more connections can be made at this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as this computer can accept."
So I can't access the software on MAIN, I can't print to the printer on MAIN, I can't do anything until I reboot MAIN. Then everything can connect again. This happens randomly and I know the maximum connections is 10 computers, so why am I having this problem with 7? Connection to the router is fine and I have internet connections on all seven. 2 of the seven are wired to the router and the other 5 are wireless connections.

My brother has just built a computer and can't get it working. The problem is that when he starts it he gets to the screen where he can choose to enter BIOS. 9/10 times he can't do anything from there but 1/10 times he can press delete and then it says "loading bios" but it freezes there (he waited 30 mins nothing happened). Does anyone know what the problem mihht be?

I am not afraid to fry my rig but I am better at following orders from someone that has done this before than me testing and trying various changes on my bios. Do any of you, knowing my specs, want to take a gander at helping me OC my rig? I am not looking for extremes, just something to help me play games better (ie: smoother visual and better fps's). I understand if you are reluctant but, we so love to test and what better way to do so if it won't break your rig, right?

I tried to overclock my memory ram from 800MHz to 1066MHz,big mistake ,my pc start to restart 5-6 times with many biiiiibs end after some more strange sounds and restarts fortunetly my bios autorecovered.Now when i start my pc with the rest messages...memory dualdual bios mbla mbla i see this to>-->CPUID: O6FB Patch ID 00B6.

Some people are unsure on how to overclock the GPU. Quite frankly, the GPU is the easiest thing to overclock in a system. Lets start from the beginning. This will void your warranty if you have an ATI video card. The first thing I recommend is to grab some useful programs and the latest NVIDIA WHQL drivers. The programs I recommend are EVGA Precision 1.7.0 or Rivatuner (for the overclocking/monitoring), GPU-Z 0.3.3 (monitoring/GPU info), and ATItool (artifact testing). ForceWare 182.50 WHQL DriverWinXP 32 bit WinXP 64 bit WinVista 32 bit WinVista 64 bit Proper uninstallation/installation of video drivers (Vista, in XP it should be somewhat similar):Download and install Driver Sweeper or something similar. Right click on computer, click Device Manager (on left) Select your display device (video card), uninstall video device software. Delete driver folder (C:NVIDIAWinVista641xx.xx) Reboot in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 during boot sequence). Run Driver Sweeper or your equivalent. Only clean Display driver. Reboot. Download and install your desired driver. Reboot. When installing new drivers, make sure all anti-virus software is disabled. I just got done messing around with overclocking a little, and I'm afraid I might have be heading into trouble. How hot is too hot for a cpu to be running? Right now I'm at about an average of 53C idle And the hottest I've gotten is 57C. I just did a quick 10-min stability test from my nvidia software, and the max/min temps are 66/53C, reported on the motherboard. CPUID actually measured core#0 at 43/63C and core#1 at 43/60C.

I am having a problem with my PC. It is a home built with a Gigabyte EP45T Extreme motherboard with a Intel 9550 CPU, 4 GB DDR3 Corsair ram, Gigabyte Nivida GT280 video card and 2 700GB Sata 2 drives set up in a RAID0 array. I have tried overclocking and cannot get it stable. Runs fine for a time and then suddenly starts not to POST. I have gone back to completely standard to see if I can find the problem and even with that there are issues. The drive has two Primary partitions and one extended that is devided up into other partitions. The first primary holds Vista x64 and the second is going to hold Windows Server 2008 as a demo trial..........

I've been messing around in my BIOS. Installing some faster RAM and trying a slight overclock (2.4 t0 2.7Ghz on a Q6600) and seem to have caused myself several problems. Firstly I tried to push it a bit further on the FSB- from 1200 to 1300-the system wouldn't boot and wouldn't let me into the BIOS. I eventually got round this by removing the mobo battery. I was able to get back into the BIOS and revert to my original oc. However when I booted I got a re register Windows this is not a genuine version notice. I had to 'phone microsoft and get a new activation ID. I'm now back in windows (Vista HP 64 bit) but seem to have a few left over issues. My clock was set back to 2006 and that meant I couldn't activate Gmail etc. I went back into the BIOS and reset the date but could not change the day. So it's 3.19PM on Monday the 22nd of September, 2008. I've tried everything I can think of but cannot find a way to make it Friday, which it is.
Also I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. This keeps reporting that my computer is at risk and I need to update. I've updated over a dozen times but it doesn't seem to change and is still telling me it needs to update. These are ther first problems I have noticed. I hope I don't find more. Does anyone have any advice as to how to get my day and date correct and how to convince Kaspersky it's up to date?

I have been overclocking my graphics card with RivaTuner, I decided to try nTune, I then realized I needed to adjust my GPU fan speed, but when I open nTune under the "Performance" tab there isn't any category which let's me adjust my mobo settings... I'm not sure if it is my specific video card (8400GS) or mother board (Dell RY206). But it is running VERY hot, last time I checked close to 140°F.

I just recently overclocked my cpu (Amd athlon64 3800+)stock 2.4 GHz, to 2.83GHz. I have gotten my processor up to this lvl before without facing these issues, my firefox will crash every now and then and azureus does crash every few minutes... This never used to be a problem but i may have done something wrong in overclocking this time. I have ddr400 (200mhz).*2x1gb sticks* The fsb clock is at 257mhz and multiplier is 11. I maximized the voltage for my cpu so that it can run. My dram was configured so that its at 180mhz(with overclocked cpu it is boosted back to around 200-205mhz, checked with cpu-z.) Any idea what im doing wrong or i have missed? do i need to change the voltage for my ram? I tried to change that *other multiplier thing, supposidly stock is x5, i put down to x4, no difference....

As the title says, ive managed to overclock to 3.8ghz really stable in XP. But vista wont take anything. my rig is below the stock fsb is 1333 i put it to 1350 and it still froze. What am i doing wrong, i see people online have overclocked in vista just the same. btw it freezes every time about 30 secs after i see my desktop. Usally just after Nod32 smart securty loads. do you think this could be the problem?
