Microsoft will not be patching a critical exploit in Excel that hackers are exploiting right now. By Microsoft's definition, "critical" means that unpatched PCs can be hijacked without any action by the user. Yeah, MS Office is so much better than Open Office.

I bought new PC of Vista Home edition. I can't view a Excel made document that was sent to me by friend because my new visa PC has no Microsoft Office Excel be installed.
Is there anyway that I can view the document that made by Microsoft Office Excel since I have no Microsoft office Excel be installed?

View 5 Replies View Relatedi have crysis warhead installed on my rig in this folder C:Program FilesElectronic ArtsCrytekCrysis WARHEAD. i have downloaded the 1.01 patch (or something like that) and the 1.1 patch, i am 100% sure it is for warhead and not wars. when i launch either patch i get this. also, does anybody have any idea when te Sandbox editing thing is released.......ive wanted to play it soooooooooo much for about a year and was pretty disapointed when i realised warhead doesnt have it, but i have heard that it was going to be released soon.....i heard this about 6 months ago. i have tried: running as admin re dl'in running in compat xp 32 mode. my system specs are in that special box....but i dont think that really has much to do with it..

I have spent the past 2 days updating and putting all of my software on it but now it says there's some kind activation exploit on it and that it will probably kill the OS pretty soon because this is a no-no. Nowhere in the notice did it tell me I could just buy a new serial number. It also gave me no option for removing the exploit.
I want to buy a legal copy and fix the issue but I don't want to re-install everything. Is this possible? (I closed the message and I don't know how to bring it back so I do not know the name of the exploit). Also- the guy who sold me the computer had at least a dozen other used machines all running Vista. There was no old software on the tablet, so I'm pretty sure he put the OS on the tablet (and the exploit). Should Microsoft be notified? He's in the Seattle area, close to the mothership...

I LOVED the nice, neat, useful, and tiny toolbars I created and edited in the 2003 programs and this 'RIBBON' thing is the most obnoxious thing ever! I REALLY fell bad for those laptop dudes and dudettes, especially the 15" (or smaller) screens. I have a nice, new, big 19" and I find the useless and extravagant space requirements for the "Ribbon" (who came up with that one, anyway?) EXTREMELY ANNOYING..............

I've only ever used IE7 and would like some advise please on which other browser I could use on Vista that would be the most secure. I've been looking at Opera, Firefox and maybe K-melon or Google Chrome, but from a security point of view, don't know which to choose.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI lost power to my home and my battery backup gave out before I got home to safely shutdown (I don’t normally lose power long enough to wipe out my backup). When power came back on I rebooted Vista 32Bit and was able to login but there were errors (which I did not record). Vista informed me there were errors and suggested I reboot and run CHKDSK. I tried to run chkdsk next time windows load but after my bios loaded I had nothing but a Black screen. I waited for 8 hours and still black screen. So I booted from my Factory Dell CD and Vista was unable to repair automatically.

The installer default is to install the program into a Program File that is named. This works flawlessly on xp but on any computer that has Vista installed, the file opens in Read Only, which defeats our entire application. The read only format can not be changed in any of the obvious ways (under Properties etc). This is a huge problem for us. Is there any way around it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Vista Home Premium and Office 2007 Home & Student. I am printing to a Brother HL-2070N using wifi. For some reason, I can't print from Excel. I can print from the Word and Powerpoint applications in the Office 2007 package, but not from Excel. It looks like it prints (i.e. a small window opens and it says it is printing) but nothing comes out of the printer. I have 2 other PCs with the same setup (except the one PC is on XP), all print from all three Office applications, so it must be something with this particular PC (a laptop).
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince I had my Vista Small Business reinstalled, Excel is closing down and sometimes restarting again. Sometimes just closing down. After it has reopened automatic I can close without problems. The closing down also often happens upon opening a new Excel page when Excel is open. See attachment. I have complained to the company who did the reinstallation but the claim that it is a Microsoft probloem which has nothing to do with the reinstallation. I have reinstalled Office Enterprise 2007 with no effect. When the problem started I received a message from HP that it was due to selecting the Printer HP Photosmart C5180 as default. I have tried to make another printer default but it has no effect. The computer is a Lenovo Think Pad T-61.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was always able to click on the clip for an attachment to open in Word or Excel and it opened immediately, without having to save the attachment. All of a sudden, I can't do rhat. When I click on it, Word or Excel opens, but it tells me it can't find the file. If I click on save attachments, it does that to my documents and then I can open it up. I "repaired" Office 2007, in case there was any glitch that happened with that, but it didn't change the situation - What might have happened, and how can I fix it so that attachments can open directly when I click on the clip on the e-mail.

When I export a file from a website to an Excel spreadsheet where I am using a Windows 2000 platform, it is saved as an Excel file. However, when I export this same file from the same website on a Vista platform, it gets saved as a CSV file. (I don't have the option of specifying the file format at the website. The website does ask if one wants to save the file to Excel.) I am using Office 2000. What is the method for converting the CSV file to an Excel format?
