i have an advent 9515 laptop running windows vista home premium 32-bit sp2. i connect wirelessly to my router downstairs and all is fine for standard web surfing. the problem arises when i use services such as Internet and spotify, or perform a large download. the pc will just stop being connected to the router and the little yellow exclamation mark appears over my networking icon stating limited connectivity. the standard windows network diagnostics tools are useless, telling me to move to another location and turn the router off and on again. using device manager i attempt to disable the wireless card in order to enable it again, hopefully refreshing it, but this just causes the computer to go unresponsive and requires a reboot. also, if i do not do anything to try and solve the problem, when i shut down, windows says "shutting down" forever and i have to force it. is there any way to solve this problem i have to put up with?
I am having a problem that when I connect to a VPN for work it disconnects my internet connection and I need to reboot the machine to the internet back again. I have tired to create a new VPN but the same thing happens.
I searched and couldn't find a problem to this one. While browsing my broadband connection is reliably disconnected if I type in an invalid webpage (i.e., if I type in abim.org as opposed to www.abim.org) or sometimes when trying to download a file such as the AVS file converter. If I open a different page I am prompted to connect to the internet which is quickly done but what is causing this- or more importantly, how do I fix it?
I previously had XP Pro. When I watched video clips on the Internet the video clip would be downloaded in to the Temporary Internet Files. These were mostly .flv, or .mpg but sometimes .wmv or other video files. These small video clips were from news items, UTube or any other source. I could then copy these files to other folders and keep the video clip. This also was the same for audio files.
I now have a new computer running Vista Ultimate SP2. When I view any video clip from the Internet the files do not appear in the Temporary Internet File folder and I cannot find them anywhere else. Why is this? Are they downloaded to a "Hidden" folder? How can I again save these downloaded video and audio clips? (other than changing back to XP?)
I've checked through other threads and I'm not sure if any one else has this same issue. I suspect the problem comes from a Windows Update. I'm not sure how to reload an update and I'd rather not uninstall and delete and reinstall and change things when I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing. Everything else works fine. Web surfing is smooth, there isn't any problems loading programs ever since I restored factory setting from Gateway, because of the same issue. I had to restore from the hard drive because the disc (Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP1) refused to work. I think that's because somehow my computer isn't 32-bit, its 64-bit. Then after going through setup and all the updates, SAME ISSUE!
It could be Media Player, Internet Explorer, or Adobe Flash. I get the feeling its a corrupt update, or one of those programs isn't compatible with Vista 64-bit. Those programs load (Adobe not so well) and I didn't put them there or upgrade them, Windows Update keeps on top of that. Also, this problem may have been there awhile, or just started. I know I just started to notice it. Then I checked with an older version of Windows on a different computer and yeah, that movie trailer loaded and played like mine used to. So I'm almost positive its my system not the website.
I am having an issue with the RDP client disconnecting my sessions to terminal servers after an idle period. The issue is not on the servers, because I do not get disconnected when I use a windows xp machine to connect to the servers. I have tried modifying the idle timeouts in the registry, and local policy, but those only seem to change the server settings, not the client settings.
i have an acer aspire 9410 intel core 2 duo t2500 windows vista home premium 32bit (i think >.>) SP1 nvidia geforce GO 7300 128mb(yaya it sucks) and i have no discs for vista what so ever the only thing i got was the laptop and a box for it and im not sure if this will help me but ever sence a recent download (think it was one for media player or that) vista takes me 30 minutes before i can run an application and now my usb mouse will some times disconnect for no reason at all. i really need help im losing my mind im starting to consider a mac
I'm really frustrated at this and feel I've tried everything. I've been searching all over the internet for help but to no avail - nobody seems to have this specific problem. I have just bought a new Sony Vaio VGN-NR11Z/S (2 GHz Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo T2750; 2 GB RAM; Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit Version). It has an integrated wireless switch on it and is running windows Vista. These two things don't seem to agree with each other. I boot up the laptop and the wireless connection works fine, I connect to the internet straight away. I then put it to sleep in the way I used to using standby on XP (closing the lid basically). When Vista comes out of sleep mode I find that I can't connect to the internet, and the little light on the wireles switch is off.
I diagnose the problem and it tells me to turn on my wireless switch, which is odd as it is already on. The only way to get the internet working again is to restart the computer. "ipconfig/renew" in command prompt says the media is disconnected. Device manager says the device is working properly and disabling then enabling it doesn't help. I've just installed the latest driver (11.5.0.32) and that hasn't helped either. Changing power settings to maximum performance does nothing as well, neither does turning the switch off then back on again. My wireless device is "Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection". It's basically when I come out of sleep the computer can't recognise the wireless switch, or it turns itself off even when it's in the on position.
I have Vista x64 Ultimate & Netgear DM111 modem which connects throuh PPPOE, but just recently iv noticed it suddenly & frequently disconnects & when it redials, all i cud get is an error ''TCP/IP CP reported Error 31'' along with TCP/IPv6 reported error 733'' but when i boot its all OK, it happens only when i disconnect like for eg: when the power cuts or if im not sure even when i use utorrent & when it consumes 100% of network etc. ive even unchecked ''Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'' Not sure why this is happening, i have no problem in rebooting & everythings back to normal, but its an hindrance everytime rebooting!!
I have the xbox 360 PC controller (USB). Upon receiving last Xmas worked fine until my last reformat. Since then every time I run a game to use the controller it plays for a round maybe 1.5 rounds per game then the controller bails, basically shuts down / disconnects. Windows says unknown usb devise detected. It takes 2x or so reconnecting the controller sometimes a reboot to start the cycle over again.
I went a bunch of pages back on this forum and followed a somewhat simular issue. downloaded drivers from the MS site as well as Win Update even used basic CD install. Same issue all the way through however the last attempt following this thread here (Installing Xbox 360 Wired Controller) activated the controller for nearly 45 mins straight then bailed as usual. I have a quad-boot Intel CoreDuo machine with 4 GB of memory and an ATI AIW X1900 Radeon (multi-booting courtesy of EasyBCD). To put the matter as quickly as possible, all four systems (Vista 32, Vista 64, XP, and Ubuntu) have been happily coexisting for a long time. I haven't used Vista 64 for about 10 days and went in to do some work on it this morning. To my surprise, the video disappeared immediately after the green startup wait indicator. Eventually, after about the usual amount of time and hard disk activity, the startup sound came on but absolutely no video. I restored my full backup of the Vista 64 partition from last Sunday=97 same problem!
I went in on safe mode but it is impossible to change video settings or install new drivers in safe mode so that was a dead end. I tried the repair utility that comes with Vista but it could find no problem with startup. My working hypothesis is that something has gone wrong with the video drivers although that may not be the case. Even if it were, I can think of no way of fixing it short of completely rebuilding the Vista 64 system checked desperately do not want to do
who has purchased a JVC Everio HDD video camera has probably learned that they chose to use some god forsaken proprietary video format - the .MOD extension. Apparently this is some sort of MPEG2 encoding, however, most major video editing suites prefer not to accept this format? what we need is something more common? such as .AVI or .MPG. I would be happy with the .MOD file format if the software that came with the JVC Everio actually worked.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and when I stream videos from websites like Gametrailers.com as either a Windows Media or a Quicktime file the video is choppy and has sound issues. If I download the same video there is no choppyness and once the stream is no longer on HTTP and is on CACHE it is fine. I know i have enough bandwidth for the video and under statistics I does not show any errors .I have all the latest drivers and service packs. I have reinstalled Vista as both 32 bit and 64 bit to see if there was some difference. I also have this same issue on my Laptop running Vista.

After fighting to get rid of a Trojan horse virus, I am missing the internet browser. E-mail works OK. Clicking 'Internet' icon gets me the message 'Internet Explorer has stopped working:". I tried 'restore' but it is not working either. I get the message 'an unspecified error occurred during system restore'. I scanned with AVG and the files it scanned are clean. I have a 'restore' DVD made by the computer vendor but when I stick it in the CD drive nothing happens. The computer is a 1 year old ACER with VISTA home premium preinstalled. How do I proceed from here? I have no idea what to do.
I have 8GB RAM installed (max for my MoBo) and 2 Video Card 512MB.
So this will mean that my Vista Home Premium x64 have to deal with 9GB RAM.
How can I be sure that it takes full advantage of all RAM? In My Computer > property shows 8196MB RAM, my doubt is if really when I am in Crossfire mode, my PC is able to use the 1024MB Video Ram to get the best performance in 3D Game.
If somebody can give me a way to check and even better to allow Vista to use all 9024MB it will be great.

i have a gateway md 7818u and i seem to be experiencing a video lag in games. it is almost like i can play almost no games even games that are old and i shoud easily be able to play like half life 2 lag badly like every 3 seconds or so. i also am having this issue on streaming video untill it is loaded but when it is loaded it runs extremely well. even on Internet when the pink bar is far ahead of where i am

I just upgraded to Media Player 11. I have XP. I downloaded some AVI files and they play, but sound only. Perfect sound, just no picture. They automatically open in WMP just as they should, and I tried right-clicking menus to switch views, but the view is at 100% full screen mode. I get sound, and I get visualizations (like bars and waves, alchemy, etc) instead of the actual movie. I have looked around the forums but don't seem to see anyone having this particular problem. The files are from a P2P site, but I don't think that's the problem as the sound works fine. And mpeg files from the site play fine.
All had been working well until a few days ago. For some reason, now when I double-click a video file, I can hear the audio but I get no video. I must open WMP manually, and then I get the video of what I'm hearing. I used to double-click a video and it automatically opened WMP.
Then, to close WMP, I must stop the video first. Because if I don't, the audio will continue even though the video will not be seen. I then have to re-open the player, stop the video, then close WMP. I used to close the program (X on the WMP) and it would all (video and audio) close,
I'm trying to burn a DVD img file with serveral peices of software and nothing is working. I know the image is good, I viewed it with Alcohol in virtual drive. I have tried Nero, IMG Burn, DVDFab, and a few others. It completes successfully but when I view the disc only the menu works the movie is broken up with mpeg blocking and will not play sufficiently. I also tried it in my x32 machine as well and it did the same thing... What am I doing wrong?
tons and tons of questions from users, who are having problems with windows vista and streaming videos online, like on Internet and every other place online and no real source for handling this issue. no it is not the internetconnection and no it is not the drivers. we have all tried to re-install these 40 times and we all got the newest versions but still the streaming stops, pauses, glitches, hops and simply makes watching videos online a pain in the *** with windows vista.

Well, yesterday i bought an iPod touch... So now i need a converter to convert avi to mp4. I tried a couple but it turned out that all of them don't support x64. so does anyone know a good video converting software? it doesn't need to be specifically for converting to ipod, it can be a more complex "all-in-one" converter also.
I have vista, and I have downloaded videos from itoons. Then I burned them on cds. My problem is that once they are burned, I can hear the cds but cannot see them.
There seems to be a problems with how Vista and WMP11 is looking at Video. I can go to google video and play everything in XP WMP11 but in Vista I only get sound. is it something at Internet causing this? i can play a video if i have several hours to wait for it. it plays less than a second, then goes back to download another less than a second., plays that & repeats endlessly. this hasn't always been the case.
