Installing Video Card: The Screen Blinked And Changed To 88x600

Oct 23, 2009

I just installed a ATI Sapphire 4830 DDR3 Video card.My motherboard has on board video,ATI 4200?? I booted up was still using on board video.I uninstalled ATI drivers and software. The screen blinked and changed to 88x600,looked like safe mode.It said to restart.I booted up and no video.I tried onboard and new card.I know it is booting into windows.I can hear the music. I tried getting into bios, will not go to bios. Now the screen probably is asking do I want to restart windows or Bla Bla Bla.

What can I do to get some video back .I do not care if it is onboard Just before I deleted drivers I looked in Device manager and did not see the new card.Probably because of drivers not installed??It should of shown The PCI-2 slot. No??

Screen Loads Sideways - Video Card?

Feb 6, 2009

My video card is nVidia GeForce 9600M GT. Everything was fine and I loved it but within one month, the screen on the laptop and monitor would load sideways or upside down whenever it felt like it. Only happened at startup, never while I was working. And it didn't happen all the time. Kept happening for another month so I called HP. Spent hours and hours with HP on the phone. Uninstalled and reinstalled latest nvidia drivers a few times, updated bios etc. Tried using the crtl-alt hot keys with arrows but it does nothing. Occasionally, I am able to rotate the screen by opening the GeForce manager but that doesn't always work. Even if it does work, the screen loads sidesway or upside down even after I do that fix. On one or two occasions, disconnecting the monitor from the laptop fixed it but sometimes it stays stuck.

HP now tells me they think Vista (all versions and particularly 64 bit) has problems with the driver for the monitor. No updates available and not HPs problem!!! I can't count their theory but am hoping they are wrong. Did some research on the Windows website site in the compatability center and can't find the 9600M GT listed on either the "yes compatible" or "not compatible" lists for Vista 64 or 32 bit......

Default Screen Saver Cannot Changed

Aug 19, 2009

First thanks for all the tutorials they are great and easy to follow. I was wondering however I followed the steps set out for specifying the default screensaver, yet it can still be changed. I only have one account on my computer and it is the administrator account. My OS is Vista Home Premium x64. Is there a way I can lock it to a specific screensaver so it cannot be changed?

Removing Trojans, Screen Resolution Was Changed

Sep 14, 2009

I am running Windows Home Premimum 64 bit. I started having numerous problems a couple of weeks ago, including: Screen resolution was changed, Clear Type and User Account Control were disabled, computer would stop responding temporarily of lock up completely, blue screen at boot up or computer would boot to recovery console, monitor would be on at boot up but would not come out of sleep mode. Finally last night the key board and mouse (both wired) stopped working. I changed the mouse and keyboard to ones that used usb connectors and was able to boot up again, and this keyboard and mouse work, but still having performance issues (hanging, 3D screen saver runs jerky. I tried to run Trend Micro Housecall but could not get to run. I tried to update the Nvidia drivers several times and my computer would shut down before the installtion was completed everytime. I would get a blue screen with the notice that the computer had been shut down to protect it from damage. Norton 360 found nothing. I have since uninstalled Norton. Ran AVG, nothing.

Finally Kaspersky online deep scan found these:

C:ProgramFiles(X86)Online ServiceseBayWizLink.exe Trojan.Win32Agent.cwkw
C:ProgramFiles(X86)Online ServicesESPwizlink.exe Trojan.Win32Agent.cwkw
C:ProgramFiles(X86)Online ServicesquickenfcWizLink.exe
Trojan.Win32Agent.cwkw

But did not offer a way to remove them.

Video Card Not Compatible

Jul 12, 2008

I have a Toshiba P205-S6347 running Viste Home Premium 32 bit. The problem seems to be my video card which is built in, Mobile Intel 965 Express chipset Family. I am running version 7.14.10.1329. I read that SP1 will not update if the driver version is between 7.14.10.1322 and 7.14.10.1403. Tried to download the drivers from Intels webside they were not compatable. I called Toshiba support, they told me the driver I have is the moste recent driver and that I would not be able to upgrade to SP1.

Video Card Can't Work

Jul 29, 2008

I have just brought a Media PC with a en9800GTX video card which has 2 DVI ports, I was told by the supplier that it is meant to be really good and do everything, I was also told when i got the machine that I really needed a HD TV with an HDMI port on the back so I had to go and get a panasonic TH-42PZ80B again being assured that this was what I needed. further to that I had to get a HDMI cable that would connect to the ports of the video card (via a hdmi to DVI converter) again being assured that this was everything I needed. Picture quality is great but there is no sound!

I can plug speakers into the back of the pc (green port with a standard cable) but there is nothing coming out of the TV, I have been told to right click on the sound icon in vista a change the audio to the TV but it is not listed! the media PC was brought on the basis of being speced to the hilt but there seems to be so much conflicting information and nothing works! 4k down and seems that I have brought a donkey!

I changed my screen resolution in order to better view a video. When I changed it back, the Send/Receive window that shows incoming and outgoing mail popped up far to the left of the Windows Mail window, instead of right above it where it has always been. I re-started the computer, but that did not fix the problem. I want to get the Send/Receive window to pop up where it used to--it is currently nconvenient for viewing.

Recently Changed: Left Side Documents Screen

Aug 11, 2008

new to the forum... I recently tried to click on my " recently changed" link on the left side of my documents screen, and got this messege, " The item " recently changed.search-ms" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this short cut will no longer work properly. Do you wish to delete this short cut?" I dont remember deleteing it, and was wondering if anyones seen this before. I'm not really sure if I need this shortcut, but was just wondering if I messed something up inadvertantly. I just recently added a 1TB HDD, but I dont think that had anything to do with the missing shortcut. I have a tendency to do a "delete sweep" in what I thought were like the old temp files...didnt realize this was a shortcut to actual files. Should I try to get the reently changed short cut working again?

Any Stable Video Card For Vista64??

Jul 6, 2008

I need to find a reliable and stable video card for Vista64. I've been using an ASUS nvidia 8800 GTX for over a year and it really sux ...since i installed Vista 64Ultimate its getting worse. My first issue with it, was a power supply compatibility issue with my Antec 1000W power source when not recognizing the power it gets and the nvidia sentinel down-clocking the GPU ... now in Vista64 i have lot's of BSoD's, driver crashes and recovers, etc... I assumed they would eventially get the drivers right, but no luck yet.

My last BSoD it' regarding nvlddmkm.sys (0x00000116) which, from what i read on forums doesn't have a fix till now and can be also encountered with nvidia 9800 cards. So can anyone recommend a video card that its tested (ATI or Nvidia) and it runs smooth with a Vista64 system, with no major driver issues or BSOD's? PS I forgot to mention that i need a card suitable for most of the 3D games as WoW, AoC, Crysis with nice fps. My system is:

Bad Video Card, Can Not Use Any Direct3D Screensaver

Sep 14, 2009

A while back I began getting a BSOD about a nVidia graphics card driver. Finally (kinda) resolved that by going to the nVidia web page and Dling/installing the latest driver. However, two problems persist. minor - I can not use any Direct3D screensaver - keep getting "The screen saver can't run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compatible with Direct3D." major - my PC is MUCH slower - that is, for example, when I open Explorer, it takes ~ 45 sec. to a minute to open as opposed to nearly instantly before the BSOD. on startup, icons on the desktop show up as white objects and slowly change to the actual icon image a few at a time. Before this, icons initially (instantly) appeared as the actual icon.

HP had me reomve the video card and wait for a beep - none - and remove the RAM cards and wait for a beep - one short, one long. Now they want me to do a System Restore. I am not at all interested in this. Previous attempts have resulted in reinstalling programs/settings over several days - time I do not have. Any ideas on troubleshooting/resolving this? Can I confirm a good nVidia card? Could it be a driver problem?

If I had a problem that should pop up that I couldn't fix and need to reformat can I leave my video card and a proceed as normal. Would I have to remove card because it is not part of original system configuration and reinstall after the reformat. I don't know why I didn't ask about this when I got my video card but it never came to my attention. Now that it has I am kind of stumped and worried. Any body gone through something similar and what where the results.

If I used 90 degree ones would that clear it all up? Also There is a heatsink right there the gray one. I believe that is the integrated graphics one, I don't use those I am using a video card. So can that heatsink be removed so problems? The circles are representing the heatsink and sata cables. The two lines are how long the gtx+ is. It takes up two pci slots.

Video Card Not Working Properly?

Mar 23, 2008

i got halo 2 for christmas and it said i needed vista. so i got vista and after i installed it i went on that thing that rates your PC's performance and it gave me a 1.0 this makes no sense because my computer is awesome. i have an extremely fast processor, plenty of RAM, and the second best video card available. and when it gave me a 1.0, it said that the cause of this was because my video card wasn't good. when i checked on "can you run it?" it said that i didn't have the video card that i had put in not long ago. so i am asking this: how come after i installed vista it said my video card was reverted back to my old one that came with my computer?

Can't Install Video Card Properly

Aug 27, 2008

I have an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT video card installed on my new HP Pavillion dv7 1034ca laptop. It came with Vista Home Premium. So the first thing I did was intall Vista Ultimate. When I did that, the resolution was reset to 800x600. I reinstalled all the drivers, including the one for the NVIDIA card. When I went to change the resolution, I noticed that the highest I could go was 1440x900. Which is ok but I remember being able to go to a higher resolution when I had Vista Home Premium installed. The reason why I remember is because my icons are a bit larger now than they were before. What's bad is that 1440x900 is the highest I can go. What happened to my higher resolution?

Video Card, Freezing Up In Games

Dec 11, 2009

I have been having a problem with my video card (xfx geforce 9600 gso 768mb) randomly freezing up in games for a while now. I purchased a barebone from tigerdirect.com and had it set up and everything worked great for a little bit, but then it started to randomly freeze up in games. I was thinking that there were some conflicting drivers that were causing the error. I reinstalled vista and it worked OK for a little bit then started again.

I have been looking around everywhere to see if I could find any way to fix the problem. It turns out there are a lot of people with similar problems as mine with the same card. I tried all of the different methods that had been mentioned to help them fix their problems and none of them worked. This has been going on for a few months. It's really weird..................
