I mounted a folder to a USB Stick in a USB Slot ... to unmount is it needed to enter the stick(any stick?)? After I must delete folder? How I unmount in vista 32bit home premium ?

No doubt its something similar to my last post, but I can't seem to get around it. Any info would be great. TIA BTW I have 2 memory sticks and only one came up with this.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI had my pc down for a day or 2 so i could move it to another room. When i stick my memory card in, the pc does nothing. But before it would. It had no problem recongizing it. I have 3 different cards and tried all 3 of them. Ive gone into device manager and its not in there, but says the device is working properly.I used my usb sd reader and that works fine. I was able to open all 3 cards and do whatever. y this would all of a sudden do this to me after working perfectly fine before.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Vista Ultimate x64 installed on an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop, and it has a 5-in-1 card reader. When I installed Vista, I did a clean install and before doing so, I wrote a list of the drivers I might need to get later, like my graphics card, wireless network card, etc.I failed to write down the 5-in-1 card reader, so I don't know what model or anything it is, but it doesn't work. On my device manager, I have a section called "SD Host Adapters", with "SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller" underneath it. I use an SD card, so I would assume this is related. However, under "Other Devices", I have three devices called "PCI FLASH Memory" and they all have a problem. I would assume this is the card slot. Also, does anyone know where I can get x64 drivers for a Synaptics PS/2 Touchpad? It works, but the scrolling features don't work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI picked up a shiny new PC yesterday much to the annoyance of the wife (oops) and verything seemed to be running nicley untill I wanted to use an old HDD like a USB memory stick for file transferes. I plugged it in and a little message popped up saying device installed (i think), but I could not find it anywhere. No folder or options as to which way I'd want to view the files and nothing on the "Computer" tab. It was like there was nothing plugged in. I know it should work as it shows on the wifes laptop with 32bit Vista on it.
A friend with a bit more Vista experience tried to install WMD from a menu which came up as failed and now tries to install on every time I switch the machine on. But also, now when I click the "Computer" tab, explorer crashes and hangs. Task manager tries to close it but nothing happens, so I have to reset the PC. It seems like the HDD is searching for something while it tries to close. Could my HDD be at fault or should I just reinstall Vista and cross my fingers? Games and the internet work fine, but I can't access the computer tab.
I have about 3 GBytes of picture files that I keep in my Pictures directory. I sometimes copy them all to a USB 'memory stick' partly as a backup & partly to use them on other computers. It takes quite awhile to copy & overwrite them all. I would like to copy/overwrite only those files which have been edited, or which are new. Should I be using some sort of advanced copy command, or should I be looking at the backup options, or perhaps the 'briefcase' (which I have never tried)? I have Vista home premium

Does it again a few times then it cut's out completely and the only way to fix it is by disabling the wireless network then enabling it again then starts over cutting out. When i click the repair option - I get this. Which says this when i click "Click for imformation on troubleshooting low wireless signal quality problems
This never happend with the USB wireless stick. With the usb stick it just froze every 60 seconds. Now that i have a pci card i think it's even worse. Can someone try and fix this for me, it's annoying as fuck. Also when gaming i loose connection on me and freeze but everyone else is moving, it's mostly everybody freezing though. and soon im not gonna put up with it and im just going to stop playing. I can't handle this.
Purchased a notebook yesterday that has Vista Home Premium pre-installed
1. Was not able get the time zone value to stick during setup, Had to reset after set up.
2. I successfully connected to the internet via dial-up, but I then changed the settings to not automatically dial. Now I cannot find the equivalent of "Network and dial-up connections". I want to create a shortcut on the desktop or a toolbar for each connection. How does one do this?
3. I have 2 desktop.ini icons on the desktop. Likely, because I told Vista to not hide any files.

I run a single BFG 8800 GTS 640mb OC2 in my PC at the minute due to using an EVGA 650i Ultra board - which has a single PCI slot - but have just bought a Asus 680i SLI board, so i'm wondering if it may be time to upgrade from my single card to dual cards?
The 8800 GTS i have is fantastic and i don't really see any problems with it: apart from Crysis and the snow levels that is, but i think everyone has problems with that anyway. I know the 8800 GT cards are the next GPU die (G92) and are cheap enough to justify SLI, but will i see a massive increase over what i'm playing with at the minute? I only usually play at 1280x1024 anyway due to burning out my Gainward Golden Sample 7800 GTX whilst running HL2 at 1600x1200 and so it's better to be safe than sorry (and out of pocket £300!). Also, i'm wondering about power consumption with 2 cards and also the extra heat due to the single slot designs.
I am about to install Vista64 home premium on a new build with 8 megs of RAM. The disk is Vista64 SP1. I was wondering if it is still recommended to install Vista64 with only 1 stick of RAM first prior to installing all 8 megs? Or because the disk has SP1, is this no longer an issue?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have several icons/files from my "User" folder showing up in the "Computer" folder (several in duplicate), PLUS numerous blank icons. This seems to have occurred after the Common Files folder became corrupted, after I somewhat riskily decided to power off while Vista was attempting to come out of Sleep mode - it had already taken about 3 mins and I was in a hurry - bad move, I know. That delay appears to have been due to an old version of Online Armor, and has now been fixed (by an update). Chkdsk scanned and (apparently) corrected some errors, and I also ran SFC which said it had corrected some errors but had also found some that it couldn't correct.

For some reason,my Program Files directory has been changed to the Photos directory type, so it changed from the details like file type, size, etc., to rating, photo size, etc.I cannot figure out how to change the directory back to a General file folder type. The toolbar shows things like Slide Show, etc.The sub-directories are all fine and appear as a General type. I'm running Vista Ultimate 32-bit, without SP1.How do I change the folder type back to General?I can't figure out how with this single folder.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have C & D drives, I use D for mundane filesdownloads and portable apps. However, I have a few folders that's are different from any I've seen. I don't know how to explain it other than using a detailed example.
I have D:Folder1
I can rename Folder1 to whatever I want.
E.g it will appear as D:NewFolder
However the dir location of it still points to D:Folder1
I have also scanned the registry for D:Folder1 and D:NewFolder there are no references of it. I've reformatted the C: drive multiple times and reinstalled windows. So I know it's nothing to this specific windows installation (the folders have been like this for about a year) It's not really a problem, I love it because I can rename the folder without messing up links etc. At first I thought it might be a junction, however in cmd it still shows as <Dir> not <Junction> I also checked for hidden folders on the drive. I found nothing.
When I put e.g. documents in my publick folder, do they appear automatically in the private folder too? Do I really need 2 folders to see all my docs in vista?

The possible causes are not the problem. I have 2 gig memory and it was working fine when I only had 1 gig of memory. Disk space, I have over 90 gig of free space.
