I am trying to make two backup copies of the Dark Knight and Wall-E DVDs, but they end with an error saying that the DVD might be protected. I am using Windows Vista 32 bit.
View 5 Repliesthis is the only game im having trouble drivers I will need to get before I install Vista? coz it has a lousy 16bit installer on my old cd i bought in 1998. Has there been a repack of it since like the sold out software version of tomb raider 1-4? i notice on ebay there are versions that are packed in the modern dvd cases we get now instead of the cd jewel cases like i have with my current copy.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have this one old game,Star Wars Jedi Knight Dark Forces II..I decided to try if the game would work on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5520),but it doesn't work correctly at all.The installation progress went just fine. Then I started the game and the intro movie worked well,however,when I got to the main menu,the screen was all black! I could hear the sounds and I could see the cursor,but nothing else.I tried this Alt +Tab trick and thank goodness, it worked.Now I could see the menu and such.Then I tried to start a new game. The small movie clip played without any problems and then it loaded the level for me. Well,the screen was okay and all that, but when I press Esc, the screen is again all black.The Alt+Tab trick worked again here.Goody.So question number one is, is there any sort of way how I can get rid of those black screens?
Not to mention, but using the Alt + Tab trick always is pretty annoying. Edit: Well, no more black screens. Goody! (This is because I did the "GUI windowed" thingy.) However, now that I did that, I have another problem with it.. Blinking edges. (Or whatever that... "Edge" is called. ^^; Edit 2: Yay! Now the edge is gone for good. See my post down below if you're interested.................
I have Windows Vista Home Basic. I installed one of my favorite star wars games(star wars addicted) everything went great. But when I run it gets fun: I get a black screen, I can see my cursor and hear the sound. But I don't see the menu And when I click on something it shuts down the game. I also tried to run it in compatibility mode but that doesn't work either. I also tried to change the resolution but that doesn't help anything.

I can easily get it dead stable at 3.2 GHz, with the RAM running at 1066 (rated specs) and manually adjusting the timings to 5-5-5-18, also spec. But if i start going any higher the system starts getting quirky - particularly when I resume from standby - it goes south with a BSOD. Gunter, I know you wanted pics, but let's keep it all consolidated in here and start keep it to a relative few people.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMS Flight Simulator X with the FS-X-SP1 patch and the Acceleration pack on top running on Vista Ultimate and a eVGA 8800GT-512MB card with the latest official 169.25 Nvidia drivers installed after about 1 hour the entire machine locked up, dark screen total freeze. Had to Hard reset. There is nothing in any of the Vista Event logs to be found.
How is this possible? Suffice to say this machine is absolutely stable hardware-wise .....
I have a computer with Vista 64 bit OS. It didn't come with a OS disk. Can I create one and if so how?

I managed to sort it out but its worrying me incase it happens again as i don't have a windows disc (it wasn't supplied with pc when originally purchased) I upgraded my pc to vista with disc but i dont' have a boot disc, i know you can create them yourself but i haven't a clue how to do it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a new laptop with Windows Vista but I am having problems with the screensaver settings and selecting a different image. For some reason the screensaver switches on every 10 minutes even though I have set 20 mins as the time allowance and the screensaver appears as a blackened screen rather than one of the more deocrative options. I have tried re-setting the time/style several times but nothing seems to be changing ---- it becomes slightly irritating when watching media when the screen darkens every 10 minutes!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that my monitor has wavey type lines moving up and down (almost like interference)...I seem to get it most when the screen is dark or when loading up a game...for example I loaded up Crysis, Grid, R6V2 and all on the intro screens looked like the screen picture was split in half and you could see the join line..I have tried playing around with the res and refresh rates but not having much luck..got a 22" montior and a 8800GTX graphics card - all drivers are up to date.

When I want to play a game such as Flight Simulator I get a message saying I do not have access to creat scenery files, contact administrator. 1: copy is under: Desktop - Hal, and
2: is under Desktop - Computer - Compaq (C - Users - Hal.
Should I delete one? If so, which one? It appears that they are exactly the same, but I haven't checked every file, and when I add or update/change a file it goes to both places. (I am the only one on the computer) They both have: AppData, and the Green color files, Contacts, Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Favorites, Links, Music, Pictures, etc.
When I use "Search", it appears that the returned files properties are under 1 (Desktop - Hal) and when I use "Save As" for a file, it also goes to 1. Therefore, I think I should delete 2, but would I delete "Users" or just "Hal"? Am I getting into dangerous waters in doing this or should I just leave it alone?
I wanted to copy my Favorites to a flash drive to put on another computer. Some of the files showed a message saying: Property Loss. The File has properties that cannot be copied to the new location. Are you sure you want to copy the file without its properties? It gave me the choices = Yes, Skip, Cancel.

My e-mails show the name, then the full e-mail address - not good if you are forwarding, or sending a copy. I went into "headers" for the Bcc title hoping this would solve it, but still showing the name and address. When I was using Incredimal, I was able to show name only. Perhaps it is not possible with Windows Vista?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Vista Business(Upgraded from XP using the Clean Install method). I have noticed that Local Disc ( C ) is showing 234GB free of 279GB. (2*150GB HDD in Raid O =279GB ) That is i have used 45GB. The significant amounts used are Programme files 1.85GB,Users 2.54GB,Wndows Vista 7.81GB......11.2GB in total. Windows Old which i deleted with exception of some required files shows 96KB When i goto Windows old.. Properties and open PREVIOUS VERSIONS there are 5 versions each of about 6.4GB that is 32GB in total..Total usage is therefore 11.2 + 32=43.2GB Roughly what HDD( C )is showing.. My question is how can i get rid of these SHADOW COPIES..SYSTEM RESTORE is turned off.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo whenever I turn on the system, after I run a few light aplications, like Internet Explorer or PC Wizard for example, the screen turns dark for 2 seconds, and the error message: "igfx display driver has stopped responding and was successfully recovered" pops up. This may happen once every 30 minutes or even around 5 times in 20 Seconds, resulting in a blue screen of death. The latest driver which is currently installed for the Intel chipset is 15.13.6.64.1908 (7.15.10.1908) which seems to be causing the problems. This driver is also unsigned by microsoft, but is the most current driver to date (pcd5srvc_x64.pkms, igfxcoin_v1908.dll, and igdkmd64.sys comes up as unsigned in sigverif.exe). I uninstall this driver through Hardware Manager, but the current driver then goes down to (6.0.6001.18000). Even though this old driver is stable, my resolution is horrible and websites with picture intensive pages lag and flash like crazy. I've been searching the internet all night with this problem, and this is my last resort for an answer. I don't know what else to do. I can't even find a lower driver version for this chipset on Intel's support page.

What would be the fastest way to make copies of this DVD? I have only a single DVD burner in my PC. I thought maybe create an image of this DVD then burn from that.
