Gateway Webcam Graph Render Fail
Mar 23, 2008Used the Webcam 1 time and it worked. Turned it off and did not even wait one minute and turned it back on and it gives me Graph Render Fail. What does that mean and what should I do?

IE 8 Some Sites Don't Render Correctly
Aug 5, 2009I have a Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit machine. I use IE 8 in my admin account and have had no problems with browsing websites. When I switch to my standard user account and use IE 8, some sites just don't render correctly (see attached screenshots). I've tried almost every suggestion I've come across in researching this issue, to no avail, including uninstalling IE 8 and using IE 7, reinstalling IE 8, compatibility view, add-ons disabled, mtu router tweaks, disabling anti-virus. I use Firefox mostly but need IE working for testing purposes as I'm a developer.

May 15, 2010Two weeks ago I was having problems with my laptop and asked a friend to look into it. He reinstalled Windows Vista, but somehow left me without most of my drivers. So far, I've been able to reinstall most of them, but I'm still having trouble with my graph card.
I have a HP dv6500, with an Nvidia GeForce 7300. I've tried to get the driver from Nvidia, but it says that I have no hardware which can use this driver. When going to my Hardware Manager, it calls my graph card a Standard VGA card. This totally keeps me from installing games, video editing software or even watching videos: I always get the message that my graph card cannot accelerate.
Defrag Progress Graph In Vista
Sep 3, 2008why there is no defrag progress graph in vista (like the one there was in xp). The defrag just has a scheduler or defrag now and then there is no way of knowing how far along it is. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Apr 4, 2009my Gateway M-6318 is not connecting to the internet. It was working fine when connected to an ethernet cable at the apartment, but wireless didn't work, but now at the house neither work! Cox has came down two times to fix this, but nothing. I have been playing around with it since the move, but no luck at all. It does not work wirelessly or wired. We have two laptops. One works and one doesn't. It also says that something called DHCP is not enabled, but I don't know how or where to enable that if that would be the solution, but many said to me that it is only for wireless networks.

Oct 6, 2009My girlfriends laptop is having issues. its a gateway m-1617. her hdd failed so I replaced it with a working spare I had from a hp vista laptop. specs were the same so I thought it may work. but I am unable to re-install vista on it. the hdd is recognized in bios but when I get into the vista install screen there is no hard drive located to format. Do I need to order an EXACT replacement for the OEM hdd or can I make this one work somehow? Or is there possible other hardware failure??

Apr 25, 2010I need to do a complete factory reset on my Gateway. The restore discs that Gateway sent me no longer work (I've had to factory reset previously) and the OS disc that Gateway sent me isn't reading in my T-6835 laptop. Since I reset my hard drive previously, I don't have Gateway Recovery Manager. I do have a recovery partition though, but I can't access it for some reason or another. I have tried tapping alt + f10, f10, and r at the beginning but to no avail.

Mar 23, 2008Boy am I going crazy. A brand new laptop and brand new S9 Moto stereo headphones. I pair them to the computer and it acknowledges them. However, I get no sound whatsoever from the headphones. The Bluetooth screen show they are there as both a stereo headphones as well as a wireless headset.

When i open the console or msn messenger, half the time it loads fine, half the time it gives an error message saying "this graph cannot preview" and the screen is just a blank white (msn cant find it at all). She is in another state so it's very difficult to do over the phone since basically it's like being blindfolded. my dad bought a Gateway (model:GT5428) desktop about two years ago. well not long after that it started to shutdown unexpectedly. ofcoarse my dad thinking that it would cost a butt load of money to get it fixed. so he tried to fix it himself and asking my step-grandfather to help him, but the problem still continues.
Here I'll give detailed discription of what usually happens: when logging in, the unit's fan gets really noisy as if its handling alot at once. if we open a program like internet explorer to soon it will shutdown; so we usually wait a while until we think it's ok to open the program. but after shutting down a blue screen appears and then it reboots. now in safe mode it works fine so I'm pretty sure it's not a Ram problem but I believe it maybe a driver issue concerning some hardware( a linksys wi-fi adapter) that was installed by someone at circuit city when he bought the computer. so I need help finding the problem. Problem reports and solutions has logged in 366 unexpected shutdowns since 2007.

Gateway Static IP Address Disappears Everytime I Restart

Feb 27, 2009There were some problems with drivers of a webcam I bought some weeks ago, but it wasn't serious, because I have the webcam of my lap. I don't know if this is related to using vista x64, but when I use Flip 3D, Live Messenger conversation windows don't appear in Flip, instead they appear in the background. I don't know if this is caused by using Vista x64, maybe it's a problem with Messenger.
This is my question: I'd like to try Vista Ultimate x86, and, as I have a machine with 2GB of RAM, could I experience any kind of troubles (in performance) using Vista x86 in my laptop? I'd like to know what kind of stuff I could lose because of moving from Vista x64 to Vista x86... maybe DEP? What else could I lose?
By the way, I use these programs frequently: VMware Workstation 6.5, Visual Studio 2008, MS Office 2007, SQL Server 2005... and other common programs (like WinZip, Adobe Reader, Live Messenger 9, etc). I don't use other programs (like Photoshop, intensive games or the like), and I have usually open, for example, VMware, WMP11 with Visual Studio at the same time.

Sep 30, 2009I have a Sony Vaio Model (VGN-CR507E) and I have recently put on the Windows 7 Evaluation Copy, Build 7100. Everything seems to be in good order except for the Webcam. When I try to run msn, skype or any other webcam related programs it says that the webcam is in use by another program. When I go to my Device Manager It says that the USB Video Device is installed and fully updated.

May 15, 2010I apologize in advance for my fevered nature I'm just a little bit frustrated over this. My boyfriend bought me a Microsoft LifeCam vx-5000 today. After the initial frustration of getting my webcam to actually broadcast video via the internet I became increasingly angry over the fact that everything, even the music player I was using on a different tab froze or lagged severely after only a few seconds of my broadcasting. People would freeze or there would be a lapse in messages and then the video would start up again and/or the messages would come in droves.
My Internet works fine and is quite fast when my webcam is not on. My computer, while about 4 years old works relatively quickly and I am able to use that quickly when the webcam is on. Also, this problem only happens when the webcam is being used with the internet and nothing freezes or slows when the webcam and the internet are not connected (just using the webcam program and not utilizing say chatroulette or tinychat.) Everyone I chat with says that they can see me clearly and I do not lag or freeze at all. Also, on my computer my webcam does not freeze or lag at all. I am incredibly frustrated because internet searches have proven to be useless because everyone complains about their webcam freezing when my problem is the complete opposite.

Jul 29, 2009Well I just got my laptop brand new like three months ago. My Webcam worked for a little while then all a sudden it stopped working. When this first started happening I would shut down my laptop then it would work again, but still the problem persisted. Now my webcam does not work at all. I have a HP Pavilion dv5-1235dx entertainment laptop with windows vista home premium 64bit. I have McAfee antivirusus on my laptop and I've heard it doesn't allow you do view video or do video call on MSN. Well even when I try to open webcam thru HP MediaSmart Webcam it doesn't work. It doesn't work with QuickPlay either. I get the error messsage (No device detected. Please plug a device into your computer. If you are using an integrated camera please make sure its turned on.) No clue why this message is showing up. I have a built-in webcam on this laptop. I checked webcam under device manager which it is not there.No imaging devices are found at all. Under USB there is an unknown device that shows up everytime. I Delete it then check hardware changes and it shows up again. But it says there is no drivers installed for this device. So I'm not sure if this unknown device is the webcam. I've tried uninstalling webcam program/driver and installing it again and it doesn't work. My computer is up to date with all updates windows provide. My BIOs systems is also up to date.
