I have a notebook with vista ultimate 32bit installed and i'm experiencing issues with firefox(suddenly it doesn't resond for 2-3 minutes) and when i'm watching video files, it freezes(for 2-3 minutes as well).i have installed twice the proper codecs(different package every time), i have cleaned the registry, but the problem remains

Noticing a rash of users in this forum discuss how IE 7 is suddenly freezing, not responding or not working in recent weeks. Problem seems most common on Vista, but appears on XP, too. Getting the same problem myself on both a Dell desktop and Compaq laptop running Vista SP1. Problem often appears when using multiple tabs in IE and/or when closing the IE window. Flash 9 caused freezes too, but it appears more common with Flash 10. Sometimes the freezes are blatant -- and result in a pop-up error. Other times the freezes are over in a second or two -- and you only see the error if you check Vista's Performance monitoring tools. And it's not just IE. Users are reporting freezes with other browsers like Firefox and Safari.................
View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone else notice this in regards to BD movies? On saturday I "upgraded" my working 2217 build to build 2705/2815 then there is no audio, and the video freezes at movie startup. I then reinstalled/restored build 2217, and still had a different issue: a message to update, or there would be no Blu-ray playback. The "update" opens up a IE window to download Build 2705. Of course the issue here was If I updated, then I had no audio and the video froze/crashed the player. I figured out how to fix the issue, but I dont know what caused it. Its as if the Player will longer connect and update/authenticate the playback keys, Unless using a newer build, and those newer builds are non-functional/glitchy. I fixed the issue, and now Build 2217 plays all again, but had I not backed up the Cyberlink/Powerdvd folders I would be stuck with a non-functional player.
I suspect the older build upgrade/or no playback message is by design. They want to force updates on those using player builds that can read BD files off the drive, and that use AnyDVD to break the encryption. I tried two Movies; BD Spiderwick and BD Hellboy II. Anybody else try to update their build and have a "no play/no sound issue with newer BD movies? Anyone using PowerDVD Ultra for BD playback, try installing the newer builds and then try to play a June 2008 or newer release BD movie. (just to be safe though, back up the Cyberlink folder, and Powerdvd programs folder for restoration if need be)
i recently updated compter to vista, everthing is ok so far jus the play back of videos in all types is in slow motion but the sound is cool.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've just installed Vista Home Premium SP1 and the DVD playback picture is all garbled in Media Center - lots of mainly green, pink and purple blocks with an occasional flicker of a proper image. The audio is fine and playback with PowerDVD is fine too (dont want to use this as I cant get 5.1ch sound without buying it), I have uninstalled PowerDVD but to no avail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been dual booting Vista and XP for a couple of years. I have never been a fan of Vista but installed it so I could learn my way around since I work on other people's computers.. A couple of weeks ago I added Windows 7 RC1 (build 7100). Unfortunately, a major problem I've always had in Vista is still there in Windows 7. My problem is jerky video playback, frames freezing momentarily. It doesn't seem to matter what format the video is in or what player I'm using. It also occurs when watching TV. Interestingly enough, I can record TV in Vista (even while it's jumping) and if I go back into XP to play it, ity plays flawlessly.
I originally had Vista Home Premium 32 bit, but upgraded it to 64 bit a few months ago. I had hoped that would cure the problem but it made no difference. I have spent days googling and find all kinds of people who have had the same problem but no one has a cure. Needless to say, I have the latest drivers direct from the NVidia site installed. My video "experience index" is 5.8. That's up from 5.2 a couple of days ago when I upgraded from a 7600 GT to a 9800 GT. (Which made no difference either).
I have tried various "tweaks" to no avail. I've tried with Aero turned off. In WIndows 7 I turned off the "gadget" service. To no avail. Surely as much as this problem is talked about someone has come up with an answer. If they have, I haven't run across it yet.

Ifran reports: width 640 height 471 bitsperpixel 32 frames 378 (25.0 fps) length 15.12 seconds actual playback is too fast at about 9 seconds (Windows Media Player) with 'chipmunk' sound. playback on the camera is 15 seconds camera manual says that in 'Std' mode it should be about 17 frames/sec. Vista Home Premium, SP1, all patches from Automatic updates. Must be something in my setup as I don't see this as common in my Google search.
View 7 Replies View Related(it's been a while since I've needed this kind of support so let me know if more info is needed) Anyways, from the moment Vista plays the logon sound there is static crackling and chirping noises whenever there is audio playing at the same time as any kind of visual change on the screen (not every screen update). For example videos on websites that play them as plugins are especially static-y. However, playing a fullscreen game (i.e. World of Warcraft) does not produce the static.
Interestingly, I have now tried two different video cards. The Nvidia and now a ATI Radeon, both have the same identical problem. I first thought that it might just be a Nvidia Issue but this is not the case. I have checked for IRQ conflicts and none exist that I can find. I have updated Windows as much as I think I can. I've tried changing Creative drivers as well.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi just reinstalled vista ultimate x64 on my machine after replacing the motherboard. while in the process of the setting up the system, i found that my video card would work correctly unless i had downloaded the latest drivers [drivers on the disc did not work correctly]. that issue is resolved but thought it might be relevant to this current issue.
if i open ie7 [no add-ons, straight off a fresh install] my computer freezes completely and a reboot is needed. this same issue happens when i try to play a .avi in wmp11. the first time it froze i thought maybe it was the lack of codecs, so i downloaded the cccp. after this was installed, the same issue happened. i then uninstalled cccp and installed vlc, froze just like wmp11 both times before when trying to open video file. i loaded picassa3 on my machine to manage photos, when this begins to search for media, it too freezes just as previously described. i can play videos from hulu.com and Internet no problem......
My digital camera is a Kodak Easyshare and it takes video in .mov format and i have been using windows movie maker, it allows me to import that format fine. Been working on some video projects and I should have finished the project, before i reformatted my system, but thats in the past and this is now. (I learned my lesson)
after i reformatted and put vista back on, i tried importing and playing the video files in windows movie maker and the video will play ok, but i have no sound. I drag it to the timeline and expand the video to show the audio and the audio doesn't show up. I can play other sound files ok, it just wont play sound from .mov formats. I tried playing the video in quicktime and it plays fine with sound too. I tried another video editing software and it plays fine too. I am working on getting another video editing software, but for now, i will just use what i got, but i got nothing now. If someone could help that would be great.
I tried Windows Live movie maker, which btw, is really ugly, it doesnt even have a timeline, how can you edit videos without a timeline? anyways...i tried the video and it plays, but still no sound. I am thinking that there was a codec that was installed before, but i am not sure what that is. Is there a way to find out what codecs you should have or does it depend on what the user has installed and customized system?....
When I have my display adapter (nvidia 7300 gs) enabled as normal, Vitsa freezes at a random time. It occurs more frequently when running video files, but can happen with no applications open. When I disable this display adapter and run on the on-board one, the problem does not occur, but then I cannot run anything that needs direct x. I think the issue is due to the driver for the nvidia 7300 gs. I have rolled back the driver, but this has not helped. And I downlaoded the latest driver from nvidia's website, but this has not helped. Through device manager, I have unistalled and re-installed the nvidia 7300 gs.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Media Player 11. I have XP. I downloaded some AVI files and they play, but sound only. Perfect sound, just no picture. They automatically open in WMP just as they should, and I tried right-clicking menus to switch views, but the view is at 100% full screen mode. I get sound, and I get visualizations (like bars and waves, alchemy, etc) instead of the actual movie. I have looked around the forums but don't seem to see anyone having this particular problem. Soo i made a project with a bunch of videos put together and i like a rookie i deleted all the videos because my project was done. afterward when i played the video on pinnacle a big question mark came up and the video didnt show up. so i recovered the videos from the recycle bin and then the videos were still unavailble.only shorcuts for the videos are available for the videos but they dont open up.

Have no problem playing video files in Media player, but the same video files are not properly played in MediaCenter. They blink from time to time. It looks like a problem with codec, but after installing Shark and K-lite codec packs the problem still the same. May be Media center gets different codec. How do I change it?
My second question is: How do you add extra programs to Media center in vista x64? In XP MCE 2005 you could just drag desired program to the start button and prop it there and it would end up in MCE. It doesn't allow to the same in Vista MCE. If you drag the program to start button it will open MCE, but you won't find the added program in MCE
I have a Sony DSC-W290 digital camera that take HD video in 720P with the extension of "MP4". I can play the files on my computer with QuickTime player, but when I try to play them with Windows Media Center on the same PC, it says "Cannot play video. One or more codecs required to play this content cannot be found." The first time I tried to play these in Media Center, it downloaded a codec first before attempting to play, but it still cannot play them. How can I make Media Center play these video files?

I'm running Windows vista home premium 64 bit and I tried to edit some .avi video files on my windows movie maker but when I tried to edit the file it gave me a black screen in the preview box and only recognized it as audio. Does Windows Movie maker 64 bit not recognize .avi video files or is there something I can do to fix this like download a patch?

When I put any graphic file into the forlder with wmv file, open picture and slide to .wmv file it plays ok. I have already tried to reset WMP 11 settings with registry patch and tried /sfc scannow to no avail.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to play video or audio files on Media Center through the TV via HDMI, the video and audio is very laggy. It also sounds sort of static like. When I play CD's or DVD's the problem is resolved. Also, when I unplug the HDMI, the problem is resolved. Also, when I minimize Media Center, the problem is resolved. It only happens when the HDMI is plugged in and Media Center is Maximized. I have searched all over and have not been able to find a solution to this problem. I have tried changing the HDMI cords and changing the HDMI input on the TV. I've also tried to use a different TV and no luck.

I am using Vista to connect to my work network via a vpn to our ISA 2007 server. When connected to the VPN, NSLOOKUP works but all other programs (like PING and IE) can not resolve the address of our internal servers.
I have coded a connection specific DNS sufix. I can verify that IPCONFIG shows the two work DNS servers. NSLOOKUP does see the work DNS server as the default. I do have the 'use remote gateway' option checked in my VPN connector.
Yet, when I connect to the VPN I lose all ability to do DNS lookups for everything execpt NSLOOKUP. (This is somewhat resonable since my ISP's DNS server will not respond to DNS requests that do not originate on their network. If I could connect to them, the work DNS servers would also supply addresses from the Internet.)......
I really had high hopes for x64 Vista. I put together a new system (specs below) that would be more than capable of handling the OS. I wanted to get the benefit of the full 4 GB of RAM as well as other potential benefits of x64. But it has really been a disappointment. If the computer is on screensaver for too long, it locks up and won't respond to ctrl-alt-del or anything but a hard reboot (no, it's not in hibernate mode). I've had driver problems and I can't even get Rome Total War, my favorite strategy game, to play. Is there any reason why I should keep x64 on?

A report will be generated so Microsoft can tell me they will "research my problem" So every day for two weeks I have sent Microsoft a note telling them my problem should be their problem. I installed a new dvd reader and get the same respond which is "not responding" I update all my drivers and again try to read my game only to have Vista explorer tell me to reload explorer and we will generate a report Has this happen to you? Many times I just want to rip the CD onto my MP3 player with software that comes with the MP3 player. I'll even have the ripping software loaded and ready to view the first Cd into the drive but Media Player still jumps ion over everything and starts playing the Cd. Is there some way I can make Media player just stay still until I want it and launch it myself?
