The problem I am having is when i enable my graphics card (geforce 9800 GTX) the edges of the display go out of viewing. I have tried using vista and nvidia drivers, either way once the graphic card is enabled with drivers the format changes and the edges of the display go out of screen. I am still able to click on the task bar and other windows when they are out of screen, because my mouse will also go out of screen to reach them.
If i disable my graphics card, the viewing area is fine.
The coordinate of the cursor in my Vista is not at the tip of the arrow, instead it is at the tail of the arrow. When I click a file name, the file underneath would be opened; if move the cursor to the edge of IE, the double head arrow will apear at the bottom-left of the edge.
I have Vista. Just now, something happened to my Firefox window so that the bottom edge was below the bottom of the screen. I couldn't find a way to resize the window so that the bottom edge was visible. (I had to close and restart Firefox and it was okay.) Was there a way to resize a window without dragging the edge or corner? I had no way to get to the edge. I right clicked on the title bar and selected Size.
*I have recently installed a new Canon MP620B color printer to print mostly correspondence coming and going on Windows Mail, running on a Vista Home Premium OS. The Canon replaced a HP Photosmart that started leaking ink.*
*My problem is when printing email the far left edge of the copy (type) does not print. The From: To: Cc: are missing the left half of the F, T and C letters all the way down the page as well. It's as if the page is not centered in the print area.*
*Under the print preferences I have tried "print to fit" and all the options to get that left edge to come out. This does not happen on Word docs however there is a left margin set on those.
At the completion of running a game in MSTS after closing I end up with a completely blank screen and the only way I can exit this screen is to press Crtl+Alt+Delete which then returns me to the opening screen displaying "log off" "change password" etc. Anyone else having the same problem. I have Vista Home Premium.
I have an issue with Windows Photo Gallery and viewing black & white images. The problem I am having is the white parts of the image seems to have an almost light blueish tint, and the black parts look like they were done using dark blue ink.
The thumbnail for the image, as well as opening it in paint and opening it in slideshow displays the image correctly.
So far, I attempted to fix this problem myself by changing my ICC profile in the color management settings multiple times, even rebooting my pc for some of the changes, as well as uninstalling my monitor drivers, with unsuccessful results. I do not know if this is an issue with my OS, my monitor, or my video card.
Today, I was forced to use my Vista Ultimate installation disc to reinstall Vista - since yesterday morning, my computer was not able to get out of a loop (first going to Windows Error Recovery and then, when selecting any of the options, going to the green loading bar, where it the green bar stopped moving about 2/3 of the way, and going back to Windows Error Recovery).
The installation went smoothly enough, but I am absolutely clueless how to get my computer to roughly the same conditions it was before this fiasco. Fortunately, it would appear that all of my files and folders from before this re-installation have been saved in the folder Windows.old. However, I am at a complete loss as to how to reconfigure my Internet connection, how to restore my previous screen resolution (there are now only three options for resolution under Display Settings), and essentially getting the basics back in order.
at some sites, the pictures don't download, but instead I get little square placeholder frames with a red x on them. I get this at Kohls.com and also Creativelabs.com. But other websites load fine. It only happens rarely. Especially since I'd like to see what I want to buy from Kohls I am using Vista with IE 8.0.
As you can see, the right columns, normally showing publisher and status, have disappeared. Looks the same if I start IE without add-ons. I check the add-ons from time to time, but I am not sure what has happened here since last. I believe I have installed an nVidia ActiveX to detect latest driver for my graphics card, and yesterday I installed update 11 to Java 6.
This problem happens in all browsers. I can't see Adbrite ads, for example. And some websites don't display correctly. Here's how my website displays Statcounter: To see how it should be displayed visit StatCounter Free invisible Web tracker, Hit counter and Web stats. I have Flash Player installed, so that shouldn't be the problem. I also have Java 32 bits SE installed.
I recently upgraded from XP to Vista and for the most I really like the improvements. One thing that is annoying me is that if your folder view is details and you have your mouse set to select when you hover your cursor over a file it will select the file even if you hover over the size column or the type column etc. In XP it would only select if you hovered over the name of the file. Is there anyway to change this setting?
I'm having problems with media center displaying any kind of video on my second monitor ( well 40" sony TV). using WMP however the display is always fine. Even in media center when the video is playing full screen and the play/ pause buttons are displayed the video is fine but as soon as they autohide a frame of the video keeps repeating constantly (I'd sway the same frame at least once every second). I've tried changing the screen resolution etc in media center and in the display adapter section but I can't seem to stop this. As I said WMP and other programs play back the files correctly so why doesn't media center?
I had Netmeter installed to show network activity. I like to see if I'm downloading or if I'm just sitting waiting for nothing. Then when on vacation in June/July, Netmeter on Vista suddenly started displaying an incredibly long list of "network adapters" with the weirdest names and descriptions, while at the same time saying it couldn't find any active adapter. This after it worked for a long time (years?) on XP and then on Vista since December when I got a new laptop. In frustration I downloaded the Netmeter beta. This alleviated the problem and I could see network activity again. Unfortunately, the beta was simply an .exe file, not an install through Windows installer.
Now, after a few weeks, when I start up, I get a message that Netmeter has stopped working and that Vista has reported the problem to MS (asif that will do anything!). Unfortunately, I can't get it to not start up, since the option to start at boot-up is set in the program and since the program won't start ... you get my drift? How can I safely tell Vista to not attempt to start Netmeter at start-up?
my emails have a message "Some pictures have been blocked etc.etc:- Click here to download pictures. On doing this the headings come through but there are gaps or empty spaces were pictures should be.
I used to have a Calendar Gadget displaying on my Vista Home Premium Sidebar. Someone in my house decided to remove it by opening the box that shows the Gadget Gallery, right clicked on the calendar, then clicked Uninstall. How do I get it back?
This is driving me nuts - I CANNOT stop Outlook displaying emails in my Inbox by size. This behaviour is new - previously, they were shown by the sender, and even though the sort criterion is displayed as 'Arranged By: From', I cannot get rid of these maddeningly irritating and totally unwanted '2KB', '10KB', etc. If you would like to know what steps I have taken, I have: Tried to reset the criteria about 8 times Ran System Restore twice Uninstalled Office in it's entirety and reinstalled. I cannot shake this behaviour off and it's really getting on my nerves now.
When sending a message in Windows Mail, the 'TO' line shows the recipient's name and email address. Is there any way to just show the name and not email address?
My board is an Asus P5QC...the most unstable board I have ever owned... Anyway, I got this board since November and it was not running it's best but the I had the basics running. In the past 3 months, I have re-installed Vista 9 times I was blaming Vista, but I notice that my BIOS for some weird reason is not displaying some option that I had before. Now my network adapter will not function properly. I tried my old driver and the latest drivers, I installed it the way it is suppose to be installed and well...no success. I tested all my cat 5 and they are all in good condition. My router is functionning well, seeing that my other computers are working.
I m looking for the correct way of displaying all my email addresses on the left payne underneath - the Local Folders, inbox, sent, drafts etc.. instead of going up to the toolbar and going through that procedure looking for the correct addresses for an email.
I just want it the way i had it on my old pc when i used outlook express. Also currently when emailing - the persons name and email address both appear in the 'to' box, which i cant seem to fix to just the persons real name. Both of these question are real headscratchers for me and have spent many hours on them already.
The Start Menu is extremely long opening folders and sbfolders. The magnifying glass turns round and round. It can take over one minute; however, if closing the menu and coming back, I find the folder I tried to open already open; if I try to open one of its sufolders, the same happens again with the subfolder.
I've read the tutorial at Menu Show Delay Time, but that method doesn't solve my case.
I don't know if there is any coincidence, but when this problem appeared all programs started to stop responding from time to time, more often Firefox.
All my problems started after I unistalled a trail version of McAfee. I am using Vista Ultimate 32-Bit. Please don't tell me to phone Microsoft, because I'll just end up losting my temper with them. I don't see why I should have to pay for support, Microsoft have lots of money already.
Internet Explorer 7 is not displaying Flash or JavaScript. I have the latest version of Flash and JavaScript is enabled. Firefox works perfectly, the problem is just in Firefox.
The sidebar has stopped displaying gadgets. The sidebar will open but gadgets will not work...........
I am experiencing a general slow down of my Vista system, e.g., 5-30 seconds for applications to load, 5-10 seconds for a new tab to appear in IE8, applications displaying "not responding" while an operation is working such as saving an image or file, etc.
This is isolated to Vista only. I have Windows 7 and XP installed (tri-boot) as well and they do not exhibit this problem. So, I have to conclude it is not hardware related. The system is squeaky clean; full scans with KAV 9.0.0.746 and Malwarebyte's Anti-malware. I've run both Chkdsk and SFC /scannow resulting in no change. Task Manager shows no unusual CPU usage nor Memory usage.
I am building a new system and have a new copy of Vista Home Premium 32bit.
I got it all put together and tried to load Vista. It got to the Windows is loading files screen and then screen in getting black video. Keyboad and mouse stopped working at times. So I updated the board BIO's per intel through iso image and same thing. So I tried installing XP and got to the F8 screen to accept lic. and it just reboots everytime.
Any ideas why Vista would stop? Added the info about the XP install so it may help.
I know this is a Vista news group but I haven't been able to find a Windows 7 group so maybe one of you guys can answer my question. I have the power settings to never put computer or screen to sleep and there is no screen saver setup. When I leave my computer alone for awhile the screen goes black. This never happened with Vista when setup this way why is Windows 7 doing this?
Something very odd happened today. I was as usual loading a large file ( 5.4gb ) in to Photoshop and as PS was doing it's business I noticed everything jumped over to my second monitor and the main monitor went blank. Moments later the image on the second monitor turned into a garbled fragmented mess before going into power save mode from which I couldn't get out of. Very strange.....Forced a warm boot. As the system had just been turned on so I can sort of rule out a heat issue - possibly & ram test OK. My workstation is mainly off line but two days ago I had to ftp something and I do remember vista installing an automatic update for windows update (without my permission) which I was very annoyed about, shame on you MS.....and after rebooting I saw a few reg. modifications come up on screen. Could this be the cause of this odd behavior. It's been fine since I had the warm boot - any ideas as to what's going on.
I've had voltage issues causing my computer to freeze or reboot during games and dvds. Fixed that and the computer was fine after memtest showing no problems. That was late Dec.
A few days ago, the computer would go to a blue screen saying it's dumping physical memory and then automatically reboots. Thinking my harddisk might be collapsing on me (I have a seagate barracuda 7200.11 500Gb HD with the SD15 firmware, the infamous crash friendly HD), I flash the HD with the SD1A firmware from seagate, then it was fine. 2days later, Catalyst started to cause problems by not responding, so I formated the drive and reinstalled vista ultimate, along with Catalyst, drivers from Mobo manufacturer ASUS, plus a couple of other softwares. That was yesterday, and now I'm getting the same blue screen back, or the computer just freezes.
I have recently bought a new PC running Windows Vista Home Premium. I have loaded the above programs for my son and when they a running the screen is not centred and the is a black bar to the right of the screen approx 3 cm wide. I have tried to run the games in compatibility mode and as adminstrator as recommended with other games but with no success.
I am having a very wierd issue with vista's screen saver. So basically when I leave the comp idle it goes into screen saver then turns off the monitor after 15 mins. Sometimes, more often than not, I come back and move the mouse and hit a few keys on the keyboard and nothing. The monitor wont come out of standby I try turning it off and back on, and nothing. I have the latest drivers for everything in my system and I checked the power management settings and they both are able to wake the computer up. I have a G15 keyboard and I keep the leds on and when this happens the leds are off and the lazer for the mouse is off too.
i went into my HDD and scheduled an error checking..well windows loaded as normal, but no error checking occurred i guess...now after the green bar is done, the screen hangs on a black screen.
I commonly get a blue screen. So how do I solve this problem 2ndly, whenever I play music on my WMP, the computer may just hang on me, giving all but zzzz buzzes and the whole screen shows lines.
