My Vivitar 4100 camera worked fine with old Windows XP O/S. New PC operates on Vista Home Basic. Downloaded camera CD but the system doesn't recognise. Is there any way I can still use this perfectly good camera on my new system? Tried downloads from Vivitar site, but no advice re updating to Vista or even if it's possible. All I want to to is take a photo, download to PC and then use for any items I sell on ebay.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug in a digital camera, I no longer see the autoplay dialog. This is not a driver issue because (a) autoplay doesn't work for any camera I connect, and (b) it was working fine a few days ago. The system does recognize the cameras because they're listed in Explorer and I have no problem getting pictures from them. When a camera is connected, the cursor changes briefly to a wait cursor, but then nothing else happens.

I'm running Vista Ultimate on a Dell XPS1330 notebook. I used the Vista back up computer tool to make images of the system c: drive and a second data partition. These were written to a USB hard drive as H:ComputerNameBackup 2009-05-22 162639etc. I have since formatted and re-partitioned the on board hard drive and expected to be able to restore my system and data onto the new partitions. I have tried to restore from a Vista Recovery CD and from within Vista, after re-installing, but it always fails to see the backup.
I have also tried copying the back up folder onto a ntfs partition, but it still wasn't recognised.
I recently got high-speed internet and was able to finally take advantage of a lot of Vista updates. However, the update history shows Service Pack 1 updated, Service Pack 2 doesn't show up as to be downloaded. Further, when I click START > Right click COMPUTER, I understood below display of my Vista version that it should display Service Pack installs, but Service Pack 1 isn't displaying there.

Drive Coolers - Ultra ULT40010 - one for each hard Drive. I plan on using this as an exta machine for my backups and as a DVR for a security camera system. I am limited on space, thats why I picked the smaller case.
I have been poking around Google and such for the last day and can't seem to find a definite answer. Is there a trial version of vista x64 that I can download so I can make sure everything runs the way it does under xp before I purchase vista? I can't see spending the money on an OS and finding out that the system dosen't perform right, things crash or are incompatible. I don't want to be downloading anything off bittorrent, just looking for something where I know the source is legit and not full of extra junk. I have been afraid to make the switch because of all the bad publicity and whatnot going around about it, but I want to see for myself what vista will do for my apps and on my system.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy GeForce 9800 GTX is no longer recognized by my computer. As a result it doesn't recognize my monitor specifics either. When I look under Device Manager it doesn't have a listing for display adapters at all. There is a new entry under "Other devices" labeled "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)". When I reboot or "scan for new hardware" it trys to download drivers but fails. When I try to manually update the driver I get a message:
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+
The system cannot find the filed specified."
I've tried everything including updating my BIOS, updating my mainboard drivers, downloading current WQHL certified graphics drivers, uninstalling any and all drivers related to NVIDIA, etc with no luck. I have a feeling there is something simple that I'm not doing but I have no idea what it is.I can't play any games because the system "Failed to find a suitable display device. Exiting program."
I read another thread and it mentions that I should use the system recovery. I put in my Vista DVD, and chose it but it doesn't show any OS (which is not surprising). I don't know where the drivers are though, should I try repair without any, find them (with your help if you know where they are) or install Vista again (will all my files still be there?)

I recently started the Volulme Shadow copy, which was stopped, & set it to manual; later I tried automatic, but none of that seems to work. Still no restore points kept for longer than three days.
I`m not dual booting with windows XP, & this is the amount of space allocated to restore points:
Used shadow copy storage space: 924.293 MB
Allocated shadow copy storage space: 1.172 GB
Maximum shadow copy storage space: 4.434 GB
I don`t use diskeeper defragmenting tool at all, I use the disk clean up & defragmenter that came with windows vista. I do have Ccleaner, which has a disk cleaner & registry cleaner. I practically don`t use the registry cleaner, & sometimes I use the disk cleaner, but I haven`t used it at all for the last couple of months, & the problem persists. I use as well: Spybot-search & destroy; Ad-aware & my antivirus, which is Mc Afee, does defragment & clean up on a schedule.
I used to have the Norton Antivirus for three months last year, but not anymore, but I realized yesterday that I still haven`t uninstall the Symantec liveUpdate. I don`t have any other Symantec products running on my laptop.
System would only boot up in safe mode, now there is a "unmountable boot volume" 0x000000ED. I just want the pictures off that drive. how should I get them if the operating system doesn't work? Can i plug the SATA drive into my Vista machine?

It's just that I can't see it.Because Vista has been causing me so many problems (blue crash screens, system restore doesn't work etc) I must restore to factory settings, wiping the c: disk and starting again. I have backed up all files on an external drive. The problem is that I can't see how to import all my mail accounts and mail history back into Windows Mail which will have been reloaded from new.

i'm having a problem with my new cpu. i just bought a HP M9402f. i believe the graphics card is integrated into the mother board due to the fact that there is nothing in the pci -e slot, but there is a small chip int he pci-1 slot. the chip looks way to small to be the nvidia card. anyways, i put in an ATI Radeon HD 4650 into the pci-e (16) slot and then i changed the bios to that slot for the video card. however now when i restart the cpu it does not seem to find the card at all.

View 9 Replies View RelatedVista Ultimate 32bit isn't recognising my mouse or keyboard on boot. They both work in bios, the setup cd, and ubuntu Linux, on the same PC. This all started when I had to repartiton my drive - I moved the partition vista was on to the start, and deleted a partion i had there. When I tried to boot after doing this, it said there was no bootmanager present, so I put in the vista update disk and that fixed it. Windows booted as normal, but now, when it gets to the login screen, the keyboard and mouse do not work. They are not USB, they are enabled in BIOS, I've tried a hard reset, and I have tried in safe mode.

The file type is '. MOD' saved by Panasonic camcorders. The 'video' and 'additional files' boxes are checked in the settings dialog. I spotted the problem after adding loads of movies to the computer and noticing the backup didn't need a new DVD (previous one nearly full) then I checked the backup files and '.MOI' files were copied from the folders but not the '.MOD' files. Is there any way of getting the backup utility to recognise these files?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to do is have my headphone to have a different audio stream than my speakers so that I can talk to a friend through my headset and receive the voice audio, but to also have through my speakers sound from other programs. Basically I just want the system to recognise the speaker and my headphone as different output devices instead of tieing them together. The software I'm using is Realtek Audio Manager and it hasn't been helpful whatsoever, I've had two computers and I've had the same problem with them both.

Using a 750gb samsung hd753Lj internal hard drive in a sumvision external enclosure with usb2 and e-sata connection, but i only have usb connection. ALl works fine on xp computer, but when i plug into vista i get the error in the system tray saying "usb device not recognised". In device manager it says "unknown device." have tried all 4 usb ports on laptop, have tried using it via mains powered usb hub and still no joy.

This is what used to happen when I connected it to my computer - a window would pop up, it would ask me if where I want to download the picture, how they should be named, if the pictures should be deleted from my camera etc. It also gave me an option to set defaults to some of these settings and there was a checkbox "Don't ask me again" (or something like that). Silly me, I clicked on it.
From that point the window would no show up and all my pictures are transferred to my desktop once I connect the camera, no questions asked. That worked for a while but I want the pictures to go to a different folder now and I just can't change the default folder that I once set. How do I get the option window to reappear ? Where are these settings stored, on my camera or my desktop ? I cannot find them. I am running Vista 64 bits.
