My LG H55N firmware 1.05 refuses to recognize Rewritable discs once they have been written to ie I can't erase them on my computer and must use another computer to do it.
(Very irritating because it has to be a full erase not a quick one and on the computer I have to use it takes about an hour) ...
My OS is Vista Home Premium 32 bits. My cd/dvd drive is HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM LG GSA-H55N SCSI. I have one strange problem with my cd/dvd drive since a couple of days.
---My cd/dvd drive doesn't recognize Maxell CD-R discs and certain movie dvds and doesn't read any music cds (manufacturized albums). When I insert the disk, there's this message ''Insert the disk on Drive E:''. But it doesn't have any problems with other CD-R and DVD-R like Memorex and Sony. Last week, October 26, I played a DVD movies (like Broadway melody) without any problems. I tried to play it again today it gives me the ''insert the disc message''. Is it due to some Windows update? or anything?
i totally wiped out my hard drive INCLUDING THE OPERATING SYSTEM! do the discs have the necessary tools and programs to get EVERYTHING back? HOW?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is a common problem apparently, but in searching google, I don't find an answer. Every time I log, in a balloon pops up telling me I have files waiting to be written to cd and asking me to click on the balloon to view the files. When I do that, I am prompted to insert a cd or dvd in the drive. A window then opens up which contains no files. Even if I log on with a disc in the drive, I still get the baloon and if I click on it, I get the open window with no files. One suggestion I saw on the Internet was to disable cd writing in the device properties screens. I could see no option for this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedLike the title says, my PS/2 mouse refuses to work under Vista Home Premium 32bit. The same mouse works fine under Windows 2000 and Windows XP, but under Vista the mouse gets detected but I get the "Code 10", "This device cannot start." in the device manager.
I checked and there are no resource conflicts, or any other outstanding driver or hardware issues in the system. Also, the proper IRQ is assigned and everything looks fine, except for the fact that it does NOT work and I get the Code 10 code.
Like I said, the mouse works fine in Windows 2000/XP. Right now I'm using a spare wireless USB mouse under Vista until I get this figured out. There are no special drivers or software for this mouse since it's just a simple PS/2 mouse.
I have just purchased a Gigabyte GA-G31MF-S2 motherboard along with various other components, its all setup and working with 2GB PC2-6400 ram, i did purchase 4GB ram but whenever i put the other sticks in the motherboard the screen goes fussy and refuses to boot or even leave the BIOS screen. I have run various memtests on all the sticks of ram and they have come back fine

The Vista scores cannot be taken as a true benchmark unless you use a benchmarking utility written specifically for Vista, such as PCMark Vantage. You can then compare scores between yours and other Vista installations. But unless you find a utility that can correctly test and recognize the differences between both XP and Vista, you cannot accurately compare scores.

I have tried around 8 to 10 different drivers so far and the Fax modem receives either code 10 or incompatible modem codec. I'm using driveragent.com and have tried all their drivers but no help.
Computer refuses to go into sleep mode. When I force sleep by clicking the power button on the task bar the computer goes to sleep for about 5 - 20 seconds and then wakes up and stays awake. The cause; Installation of a gateway router from AT&T to provide TV and internet service. AT&T tech support claims no known issues with this router, yet the computer slept just fine prior to installation of this router, and if I power down the router the computer sleeps with no problem. This is not a solution since the router must remain powered up to provide TV service to my home. I have searched the internet for a solution, and have performed all the steps in the tutorial authored by Brink to no avail.

I've been using Media Center for XP and then Vista for a few months. Due to a random pause issue that I can't track down, I've built another MCE-HTPC and installed Vista x64. The install of Vista and hardware went about as smooth as it can get. BUT... now that I've installed my codecs and such, MCE won't play any videos. These are videos that 32-bit XP MCE and Vista MCE had no issues playing before. In fact I can even load Windows Media Player and it will play the same videos with out a problem. But once I load MCE, I get the "can not locate codec" and it refuses to play. Since I've not had problems in the past... I is there a cache or database of some kind that Vista32 might have left that now Vista64 is trying to read and it's now unable to load the videos?... also, I did update my codecs to newer versions as well... is it possible that Vista32 had "named" codecs list and now Vista64 is trying to find the same codec name... only it's changed?

Every time I inset a disc it is rejected as soon as i double click the icon. I have deleted the upper and lower filters on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. My discs are not read and they eject when I double click the icon. But it clearly doesn't read it and I also uninstalled some DVD writing programs, unless their still there?

I have searched the forums through and through, i have removed filters from the registry, rebooted, deleted the driver from device manager and let the system reinstall. When I put a disc in my drive, autoplay does not start or anything. I have checked the autoplay settings and they all seem to be correct. I can put a music CD in and go to Media Player and play the CD. but when I go to my computer and open the drive it doesn't show any files. this is not just for music cd's, it is dvd's, programs and everything. My drive is the Optiard AD-7653 (that is how it is listed in the device manager)

Task manager has been disabled by the administrator. Any program that operates under windows explorer fails to run properly. This makes it very difficult to use the computer. What exactly is wrong? View 8 Replies View RelatedI am not clear on this issue. When I purchased my HP computer, I created "recovery discs" using the software shipped with HP. It took 30 minutes and used 3 DVD+R discs. I am not clear on if I am covered or if I need to get Imgburn or some other program and create an ISO image. What is the difference? I think I know the answer but want to make sure. Also, if you create an ISO image, does this include your theme, drivers, settings, ect. Recovery discs would take you back to when you opened the box and plugged the computer in. What is the difference for an ISO image?

What I would mind doing is having 1 DVD that can install any edition [or at least home basic, and home premium] and whether it's OEM or retail. Alternatively is to "convert" a retail DVD to an OEM DVD. I'm not worried about licensing because it's a reinstall and the user would have the license already. I know that with Windows 7, deleting 1 file does it all [per bit platform].

I have a HP laptrop and the drive is a matshita DVD-RAM UJ-850S ATA. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the driver with no success. In one of the forums it is suggested that the 'UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" in the HKEY registry be deleted but I am not sure about doing this without someone in the know gives it their OK.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having a quirky issue with my DVD drive and hopefully someone will know where to start. It seems that the drive will read CDs (opening them in iTunes) and music DVDs (playing in Mplayer), but the system completely hangs and freezes when trying to load a data disc. Specifically, the system will continually try and open the DVD (spinning away) and cause serious lag to the computer. When trying to eject the DVD, it will then cause the computer to freeze and require a reboot.
The data discs that I'm using are all programs that I've previously loaded on my XP install, so I know the discs aren't corrupt. I'm also running a 32 bit version of Vista, so I'm not worried about 64 bit compatibility issues. The drive is a Lite-on (DH-20A4P) IDE based drive, set as Master on the cable. There are no other devices hooked to the IDE cable, and the cable is also brand new (came with motherboard). Here's the steps I've taken thus far to diagnose the problem -- with no fixes working.
- Downloaded and installed newest drivers for the DVD drive
- Flashed the DVD drive firmware with most current version
- Uninstalled then reinstalled DVD drive through Device Manager
- Disabled autorun feature
- Checked connections from drive to motherboard
The drive obviously is working properly since I'm able to play CDs and DVD movies/music. It might be worth noting that I used this same drive to install Vista, but perhaps the updates horked my drive? I'm thinking this is a Vista software issue, but can't think of anything else to try. I'm also hesitant to wipe and reinstall Vista for such a small issue.
I have a PC i am trying to format and reinstall windows vista. Unfortunately my mate has lost his original recovery dvd I made him and has now got a corrupted/damaged recovery partition. After all the searching I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. I want to format the hard drive and start from fresh as he has major Virus problems. I tried searching old threads but couldnt find anything like what I needed, I hope I am not repaeting a thread already. If so please point me in right direction.
