I am a Windows XP user who has just purchased a laptop that has windows vista on it. I also use gmail as my main e-mail address with outlook express. What I would like to do, is take everything I have on XP's Outlook Express (I mean, Address Book, Account Settings, RULES, and message) and get them on Windows Mail so they are still functioning. I have been able to bring my messages and folders over, however now my Windows Mail is downloding all 3,500 e-mails that my Gmail account has left on it, and it is not sorting them in the least. Rather than go through and make more rules, is there a way I could import my rules to the new Windows Mail? Also, it is not greatly important that I have my contacts saved, as I have an e-mail from everyone of them and I can re-add them if possible, but I had nearly 40 rules that I really don't want to have to try to re-add. (Not to mention I haven't yet been able to add a single rule, as the Create rule from message button is greyed out.
I'm using outdated OE6 on a PC with XP. Can I update to Windows Mail? I want to use my roadrunner address. I downloaded Windows Live Messager but don't see a way to do it from there.
I often said that there is no such an application that can be defined as all-in-one, or one-step to satisfy all your needs. Take DVD ripper for example, there are DVD ripping software that prevent you from importing DVD videos with CSS or CPPM protection for to fight against copy piracy. This is right, but causes some trouble for users who want to convert DVD videos to AVI, MPEG, and WMV etc. There are always alternatives to help ourselves out.
Actually, Many American legal experts believe that under United States' Federal law, making a backup copy of a DVD-Video is legal under fair use protection meaning backup copies made with software such as DVD Decrypter are in fact legal but that distribution of the software used to make them is illegal. So today, I would like to tell you how to deal with DVD with protection legally.............
I am running Windows Vista 32bit Home Premium. My songs, organised on my external hard drive (MusicArtistAlbumsong). Most of them have been converted, by itunes, from wma to aac or m4a etc. I would like to convert every song on my hard drive, to the same quality, but to mp3. I want to be able to select a folder and it will convert all of the contents to mp3. I would also like it to stay organised in the way that it origianlly was.
Looking for help with some email docs that I have received in vista format. They include labels & excel spreadsheets. Is it possible to convert them somehow to enable me to print them out from Windows 2003 or 2007? I asked the sender to save them as Windows 1997-2003 format & resend them but even then when I try to print those out the label setup is altered.
I have recently purchased a new PC with Windows Vista, my old PC had Windows XP. I backed up my .pst files from Outlook on to disk. I copied this to my D drive but when I try to import these into Outlook I get the message 'The file Doutlook.pst is not a personal folders file'. Can anyone help with this please
so I understand that i cannot import a PSt file form outlook in Windows mail. Any chance I can import contacts from my old computer (XP/outlook) to my new computer (Vista/Live mail).
I use Vista and want to know how to open a file that was originally in Word 97? 2003 to open in Vista Word 2007 and how to convert that file to the Word 2007 format. When I searched Microsoft on this issue, it said to click on Start and look for the word convert. When I did that I could not find the work convert.
I want to export my accounts on XP machine to Vista machine but it fails except for gmail account. where does Vista save the account information since it does not seem to save in registry?
I have recently bought a new PC (even though it has the crap Vista on it - I had no choice!!). I am now trying to export my EMail messages from OE5 on my old PC into Windows Mail on my new PC and I can't work out how to do it. Does anybody know or have I lost all the messages I have accumulated over the last 5 years. Also, what is wrong with this crap mail program? I have to close it down to refresh the folders view - every time I create a new folder or read my new EMails - what's going on and why are the evil MS selling stuff to us before testing it. Would I be better off in either of these situations using MS Outlook instead.
I have just puchased a new computer using the Vista format. I have all of my contacts in a PST file and would like to import them. I have OUTLOOK....not Outlook Express.
How do I get my emails from XP Outlook to Vista WinMail? I thought I had backed up my emails in both Vista and Outlook, but when I try to import them it says that the folders are empty, which they are not. The Outlook folders have files with .DBX extensions and the Vista folder has files with numbered files. Can't I somehow just copy these files into the Vista mail store?
How do I only import those photos from a disk that I want? I have a huge file on DVD of photos taken by someone else and only a very few are of interest to me. I do not want to have to delete most of photos if i import them.
I have a all in 1 card reader and it has worked flawlessly for over two years on a XP computer. I recently got a new computer with Vista and every time I try to import my photos I get many warnings that some of the photos can't be imported due to errors. In the dialog box that lets you watch the progress of your photos being imported the photos that are OK have little thumbnails and the photos that have errors appear as tropical landscape animations or something.
I'm losing so many photos? At first I thought it was the card - I formatted it and tried again to no avail. I switched cards and the same thing happened.
having issues importing data from my Outlook Express 6.0 account to Outlook 2003. The move is necessary because my previous laptop is no longer bootable. I can access the data however, via my new laptop. Since I can?t boot the old drive, I can?t run Outlook Express data (so that I can export the data). The previous drive hard-drive ran XP. The new laptop runs Vista which makes Outlook Express unavailable. Is it possible to find the right files to move from the old hard-drive to the new one?
I am new to Vista. I have tried importing .avifiles from my DV video camera into Movie maker. It only plays the audio . When I first downloaded these files they would not play the video in media player but after I downloaded a codec both audio & video are playing in the media player. I was hoping that this would fix the problem in Movie Makler but it still will not show the video files. I have some video clips from a recent wedding and need to edit these before creating a movie.
I have saved my dbx files from Outlook express and retrieved them when my mother board died. I have a new computer but am now running Live Mail. How can I Import these dbx files into Winidows Live.

Is there a way to import OE 6 account settings and newsgroup subscriptions from OE 6 on a Windows 2000 system to Windows Mail on a Vista system? Is there a way to import Thunderbird account settings and newsgroup subscriptions from Thunderbird on a Windows 2000 system to Windows Mail on a Vista system?
I've been trying to import my outlook pst file into my Windows Mail, but I haven't been succeeded. Whenever I try to click on "File > Import > Messages... > Microsof Outlook " a pop up window appears to me warning me about a MAPI driver problem (it is not installed). I have already tried to download an Outlook 2007 trial version in order to solve this problem, but I didn't work. Does anybody know how to solve this problem? The emails I have in the pst files are very imporant and I really need to import them to Windows Mail.
I've read all of the posts here and not one of them help at all. I'm looking on how to import outlook express email accounts into windows mail. I can import the email messages just fine, but not my 15 email accounts. I have created a folder and stored this onto the windows vista machine, named: Outlook Express Email Accounts.
When I go to: Tools => Accounts => Import. A box appears that says "Import Internet Account". I select one of the Outlook Express 6's *.iaf files and I constantly get this error: "The import did not complete because an error occurred." What's causing this and how do I fix this frustrating problem.
Forgive me, but I am new to Vista and Windows Live Mail. I set up my Contacts folder by importing addresses from Outlook Express (.wab file). However, when creating a message from within Windows Live Mail, not all of the Contacts are shown there. I placed the Contacts folder on my desktop for easy access, and when I look there, the addresses that I am missing are shown. It's as if the Windows Live Mail software is using another Contacts folder. I checked the Options tab under Tools to see if the address source requires identification, but could not find such a reference.
I bought a new computer with vistya installed. My business uses proprietary software that will only run on xp. Can I have vista removed and xp installed?
When I click "File - Import - Messages - Microsoft Outlook" I get the following error message: "Messages can not be imported from the MAPI client". I would also like to import my contacts.pst but am not sure what format to use. My old hard drive died. Outlook.pst; Contacts.pst; and Archive2008.pst were recovered and put on a CD. I transferred Outlook.pst and Contacts.pst to my new Vista C: drive.
I could not transfer Archive2008. It said "Can not read from source file or disk", then it goes away. I guess the earlier archives couldn't be retrieved. I am getting very frustrated. MS says to contact the computer mfg, ACER says it can't help me, call MS. MS will charge me for help. I just bought this stupid computer with Vista and nobody will help me after they have their money.
I had a problem with my Windows Mail, all of the sudden I could not get my mail to show up in the inbox so I signed up for Windows Live Mail to see if I could just export everything to it but it did not work. I now have a Windows Live import box stuck on my Desktop that I cannot get rid of and I cannot get into my Windows Mail anymore. The windows live is working well but I just want to get to my old e-mails and my contacts , is this possible?
I would like to export my contacts from my computer to my second computer. Both computers use Windows Mail. I tried exporting the contacts as CSV and vCard files. Using both methods, I was able to import my contacts into my second computer but they weren't neatly organized in files: i.e. business contacts, personal contacts, family, etc. Is there a way to export my contacts so they are still in the correct files and are neatly organized?
