I want to export my accounts on XP machine to Vista machine but it fails except for gmail account. where does Vista save the account information since it does not seem to save in registry?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running Vista Business, and was successfully using Windows FAX and SCAN. The F&S software is presently in an awkward and unusable state. The F&S software will not allow me to configure a FAX Account. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my modem (Zoom 3025C, Conexant chip set). Vista has the modem configured on COM3, and the modem is visible from CONTROL PANEL>PHONE AND MODEM as well as the device manager.F&S has no accounts configured. When I attempt to add an account, it reports "No modems configured". I uninstalled the modem driver and the modem software. I tried the same steps using another Agere 56k fax modem, but obtained the same results. Can anyone recommend a troubleshooting process, for either fixing this, or for resetting the F&S modem database? Is there a way to uninstall and reinstall F&S?

I copied this to my D drive but when I try to import these into Outlook I get the message 'The file Doutlook.pst is not a personal folders file'. Can anyone help with this please

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am a Windows XP user who has just purchased a laptop that has windows vista on it. I also use gmail as my main e-mail address with outlook express. What I would like to do, is take everything I have on XP's Outlook Express (I mean, Address Book, Account Settings, RULES, and message) and get them on Windows Mail so they are still functioning. I have been able to bring my messages and folders over, however now my Windows Mail is downloding all 3,500 e-mails that my Gmail account has left on it, and it is not sorting them in the least. Rather than go through and make more rules, is there a way I could import my rules to the new Windows Mail? Also, it is not greatly important that I have my contacts saved, as I have an e-mail from everyone of them and I can re-add them if possible, but I had nearly 40 rules that I really don't want to have to try to re-add. (Not to mention I haven't yet been able to add a single rule, as the Create rule from message button is greyed out.

I am now trying to export my EMail messages from OE5 on my old PC into Windows Mail on my new PC and I can't work out how to do it. Does anybody know or have I lost all the messages I have accumulated over the last 5 years. Also, what is wrong with this crap mail program? I have to close it down to refresh the folders view - every time I create a new folder or read my new EMails - what's going on and why are the evil MS selling stuff to us before testing it. Would I be better off in either of these situations using MS Outlook instead.

I thought I had backed up my emails in both Vista and Outlook, but when I try to import them it says that the folders are empty, which they are not. The Outlook folders have files with .DBX extensions and the Vista folder has files with numbered files. Can't I somehow just copy these files into the Vista mail store?

I recently got a new computer with Vista and every time I try to import my photos I get many warnings that some of the photos can't be imported due to errors. In the dialog box that lets you watch the progress of your photos being imported the photos that are OK have little thumbnails and the photos that have errors appear as tropical landscape animations or something.
I'm losing so many photos? At first I thought it was the card - I formatted it and tried again to no avail. I switched cards and the same thing happened.
having issues importing data from my Outlook Express 6.0 account to Outlook 2003. The move is necessary because my previous laptop is no longer bootable. I can access the data however, via my new laptop. Since I can?t boot the old drive, I can?t run Outlook Express data (so that I can export the data). The previous drive hard-drive ran XP. The new laptop runs Vista which makes Outlook Express unavailable. Is it possible to find the right files to move from the old hard-drive to the new one?

When I first downloaded these files they would not play the video in media player but after I downloaded a codec both audio & video are playing in the media player. I was hoping that this would fix the problem in Movie Makler but it still will not show the video files. I have some video clips from a recent wedding and need to edit these before creating a movie.

Whenever I try to click on "File > Import > Messages... > Microsof Outlook " a pop up window appears to me warning me about a MAPI driver problem (it is not installed). I have already tried to download an Outlook 2007 trial version in order to solve this problem, but I didn't work. Does anybody know how to solve this problem? I can import the email messages just fine, but not my 15 email accounts. I have created a folder and stored this onto the windows vista machine, named: Outlook Express Email Accounts.
When I go to: Tools => Accounts => Import. A box appears that says "Import Internet Account". I select one of the Outlook Express 6's *.iaf files and I constantly get this error: "The import did not complete because an error occurred." What's causing this and how do I fix this frustrating problem.
Forgive me, but I am new to Vista and Windows Live Mail. I set up my Contacts folder by importing addresses from Outlook Express (.wab file). However, when creating a message from within Windows Live Mail, not all of the Contacts are shown there. I placed the Contacts folder on my desktop for easy access, and when I look there, the addresses that I am missing are shown. It's as if the Windows Live Mail software is using another Contacts folder. I checked the Options tab under Tools to see if the address source requires identification, but could not find such a reference.

I would also like to import my contacts.pst but am not sure what format to use. My old hard drive died. Outlook.pst; Contacts.pst; and Archive2008.pst were recovered and put on a CD. I transferred Outlook.pst and Contacts.pst to my new Vista C: drive.
I could not transfer Archive2008. It said "Can not read from source file or disk", then it goes away. I guess the earlier archives couldn't be retrieved. I am getting very frustrated. MS says to contact the computer mfg, ACER says it can't help me, call MS. MS will charge me for help. I just bought this stupid computer with Vista and nobody will help me after they have their money.
before I got Vista, I had two identies on my outlook, I do not have it now. Is there a way to set up two accounts, one for me and one for my wife? It was so much easier before.

I tried starting in safe mode and got "windows could not connect to the sens service. contact admin". I tried restoring my system to two different points 10/17 and 10/19 and neither worked. So now I am on my computer as a guest. I go to C: users and can see my username and my sons but can't open them b/c I am not an admin.
View 8 Replies View RelatedBefore Outlook 2007 (OL2007) & Windows Live Mail (WLM), OL & OLE worked well together for me when I wanted to look at NG posts. OL would use OLE as the NG reader. Then I could respond and out it went through OL. I could choose the NG reader from a pull down or a button. I have NGs I want to view when I'm in OL2007 but I can't add any NG accounts to OL2007-I can't seem to do the same thing as before. I will get email from the NG I frequent in OL2007 and I can't see the series-conversation in the NG without using WLM. I have to use WLM for NG viewing not sending responses.
Unfortunately, both have to be run in tandem with IE and I really don't want to use two email programs and IE. You see I can't send a response from WLM as it is denied by OL2007 and trying to send it through OL2007 doesn't work because it doesn't recognize the NG name as an address (microsoft.public.outlook.installation). Just to send this, I had to go through IE Google Groups to send my questions. Figuring out whether this is an OL2007 issue or WLM issue is not my fort=E9 so I'm sorry for the cross post. Any ideas if it is possible or as to how to fix this? I'd hate to have to disable both programs and find a third party solution. All these weird MS changes makes me want to by a MAC.
I added a new user profile for my son last week. Yesterday, when I tried going back and making his ID an administrator, I could no longer see the ID in the manage accounts box. I can only see the ID in parental controls. Also, I cannot create a new ID and when I try to enable User Account Control (UAC), it doesn't remain on. I tried to do a system restore to a point created last week but that didn't work. Has anyone encountered this issue? Could this be a Vista bug? I have Vista Home Premium.

The problem is how can I see the new accounts emails? I've sent emails to the new account but when I try to access them using "Windows Mail" (I'm running Vista) I get nothing? If I send an email from my first account to my first account it comes through ok!

Im using vista x64 and even after I have made the new account and can see it under "user accounts" in control panel it wont show up on the screen when I press "switch user" or "Log off"
How do i get the second account to show up?
EDIT: I just deleted and recreated the account and its fine now.
I have 17 accounts in Windows Mail. When I first start up WM, and go to retrieve mail,. all accounts work fine. But then any subsequent attempt to retrieve mail, and the process ignores the first two accounts. No errors, no message. It's just listed along with the others, but blank in the status column. And no errors reported either. So then if I exit WM and start over, it works fine again... for that first time. And then it's back to the same problem.
