Not the confirmation for deleting files, I mean EMPTYing the recycle bin. Those files are which were deleted once already, I don't want (or need) to click [OK] for everytime emptying the Recycle Bin.
Besides, the Recycle bin is at the left top corner of the screen but the confirmation dialog always pops up at the center of the screen. If I accidentally miss the confirmation box, all icons on the desktop becomes unclickable (looks like a modal window to the desktop).
Is there ANY way to disable the EMPTYing comfirmation? Again, not the confirmation for deleting files.
Recycle bin tried everything. Pretty much says it all can't empty recycle bin tried everything I could find on the forum and nothing helps takes forever sometimes won't work at all.started deleting recycle bin at 4 pm is now 6 pm still calculating time remaining tried different things with command prompt nothing worked turned off a wimdows feature remote differential compression did not help anyone have anything like this?
how can I disable the annoying confirmation windows on delete of a file for instance? Second, how can I avoid the window asking for administrator privilege when I am logged in as an administrator?
I get a message come up on my vista Acer, the Data d disk is nearly full, how do I cure this problem as the recycle bin is empty? and do I need to do anything about it, will it fill up? puter is 7months old, step by step instructions please not extreemly comp literate.
My recycle bin disapeared and although I was able to right click and choose the personalize menu to change icons it does not work properly. When I delete anything the recycle bin icon always looks empty even when there are deleted files present?
The "empty recycle bin" button does not work any more. So also with a refresh, my deleted files are still visible. The other buttons (like "restore all items" works fine) If I select the files and press delete, than my files will be deleted from the recycle bin (So I can delete from the recycle bin).
I've read a few topics that talk about editing the Recycle Bin right-click menu, but I don't care about that. What I want to do is to be able to right-click anywhere...in any folder, on the desktop, etc. and have the option of emptying my recycle bin. I had a registry tweak in XP and I tried it in Vista just to see if it would work, but no good. I know it can be done via a registry setting but I'm not too familiar with Vista's system registry locations yet.
Don't know how this happened but I deleted a coulple of files from my Documents Folder (Documents, Music, Pictures, Recently changed, etc.), and the whole Folder ended up in the Recycle Bin. I now have an exact duplication of my whole folder in the Recycle Bin. If I delete a file from the copy in the Bin, it deletes it from the Folder on my desktop. The "Empty recycle Bin" option is grayed out. How do I get rid of this duplication? It's taking up about 3 GB of my hard drive so obviously I have somehow copied all my files to the recycle bin.
I have an Acer aspire 5715z series which as its hard drive partitioned into two 30gig partitions. I would like to know, if I was to delete one of the partitions which is empty would the remaining partition take up the empty space on the hard drive.
If you have User Account Protection enabled and are tired of all of the prompts that you get when you try to delete a protected file then this tweak is for you!
One way to cut down on the number of prompts that you get is to disable the delete file confirmation box. If you are trying to delete a system file you are presented with first the delete confirmation box and then the UAC authorization pop-up boxes. By disabling the delete confirmation box you can get rid of one of the pop-up boxes that you are forced to click through each time. Follow these steps to disable the Delete confirmation box:
Right click on your Recycle Bin on the desktop and select Properties.
On the bottom of the Recycle Bin Properties window, uncheck Display delete confirmation dialog.
Hit OK and you are finished.
Keep in mind that you will also no longer get a delete confirmation when you delete files that are not protected by UAC. That will allow you to delete a file without any confirmation at all. If you make a mistake and delete a file by accident, just restore it from the Recycle bin. After all, that is what it is for!
Is there a way to stop the confirmation boxes when emptying Deleted Items or Junk E-mail folders? I am comfortable making registry changes if necessary. I am using Windows Mail on Vista Premium....
I don't know if I can attach a file or not, but I'll try. There is an empty space near the top of I.E.7 in Vista that I have spent a lot of time trying to get rid of.
I cannot empty my delete box in my bigpond account. Its only about a months worth that it seems to be stuck on. I've checked in the advanced toolbox and nothing worked.
how to get rid of an empty folder I can't delete? It says I *need permission* but I'm the admin and that aggravating safety thing in User Accounts is turned off anyway. Unlocker can't delete it either.
I was just curious and scanned my computer for empty registries,I have never done it, it showed five hundred empty registries, then I installed another program it showed another number, now I dont know if they are harmful or not and what program to use if there is a need to doit. l also run defragmentation but it is very slow.
My inbox showed up empty this morning. On the left, next to the inbox tab it says I have (12) new messages however the main screen is blank and says "there are no items in this view". It isn't showing any of the unread messages OR the read messages I have saved in my inbox. It keeps recieving emails as this morning I only had (4) new...now (12) however I cannot find them anywhere to read. I have checked all the settings and everything is the same??
I now have over 300 messages in this folder and nothing seems to work. I don't get any error messages as I see others have posted. None of the "updates" work either. I get a message that the update does not apply to your system.
I used to get ample warning before the battery became empty. Not so today. Where can I check for this sound setting? I searched under energy settings...
I did a clean install. (RC1 - Build 5600) At first, everything was working great, then the next day I have nothing in Control Panel. From the Start Menu it says (empty) after attempting to load it for 20-ish seconds. If I click the desktop shortcut, it will load the window frame with no content, then just close after 5 seconds. In Windows Explorer I can expand the Control Panel from the sidebar, and pick from there, but just selecting Control Panel, again doesn't work. I remember this being corrupted .cpl files back in the 3.x days, same thing maybe? I ran System File Checker, didn't fix it (did find corrupted files though, oi vey).
Suddenly my deleted items on e-mail will not empty. It wont empty on closing, it wont empty if I click on empty deleted folder, and it wont empty by using select all and delete. It worked fine until about a week ago and now it is full to bursting and I cant even get it to delete one at a time. (It gives me an error message: "an unknown error was encountered")
My Dell XPS M1530 Vista SP2 all of sudden had the icon for volume/sound disabled. When I did some investigating;
- The machine seems to be working fine but it appear to be very slow, backing up my machine took for ever, sometimes it see my external disk and other times it didn't - I received a message stating that I need to check windows latest update and I tried to install an important SP2 but it failed - Device Manager is showing no device, it's looks completely empty - called Dell support, they were unable to figure it out, even though I have 3 year warranty they are saying they will have to charge me for s/w support, which was never a problem before. - I tried to do restore but it states there is no restore points - I tried to see if I could start the Plug & Play but it gives error - I tried to install the Audio driver from the Dell Disk and that gives errors
I am looking for a program or a windows explorer addon that will search a folder I indicate, and delete all the empty sub-folders. I am cleaning up my music folder and found out that I have over a thousand empty folders in it due to old music I had deleted. I don't want to have to go through and delete each one manually. I don't have that kind of spare time. Programmers, if you can write a plugin for this
I have a strange problem. My documents folder doesnt show the content, although a lot of content exists. When typing a subfolders name in the addressbar, I can see the contents of this subfolder. Also in the command shell the "dir" command doesnt show me any content of the documents-folder. But I can access subdirectories via "cd subdirectory". The content of the subdirectory can be listed via "dir".
When I select "properties" after right-clicking the documents folder vista shows me the size of the folder and the number of files found. I have already tried the chkdsk...Everything worked fine until today. Has anybody got an idea what could be the reason for this strange behaviour?
The following .dll is shown as starting up the proces ?) "dzdqmgkyetrqrf":quflsiblczsu.dll. According to startup.exe, this dll is located in the syswow64 folder, but a search (including hiddens) comes up empty. I have recently been the victim of a keylogger trojan and have run 2 separate programs to remove same : Spybot & Spyware Doctor. Is this a legitimate .dll?? If not, how do edit the registry to prevent it from working??
My OS is Vista Home Premium(64 bit). I enjoy playing Solitaire and Chess Titans which are two of the integrated "Games". A problem has occurred. I click "Start" then "Games". The ">Games" window appears, as usual. Solitaire, Hearts, Chess Titans etc etc are shown, as usual. However, when I double click the relevant icon, instead of the game running as usual, I'm getting a new window with "Saved Games" at the top. In the main body of the window appears "Microsoft Games" folder which is empty!! I'm wondering if it's my injudicious use of a "shortcut fixer" tool in a "utility" I've been using recently that's caused this problem. how to get my nice green solitaire game (or chess etc) to show again when I double click the icon
I turned my machie on this morning and my recylce bin has gone. re-booted, still not there. Restored to yesterday (when it was there) and still no bin.
