View 5 RepliesIf you have User Account Protection enabled and are tired of all of the prompts that you get when you try to delete a protected file then this tweak is for you!
One way to cut down on the number of prompts that you get is to disable the delete file confirmation box. If you are trying to delete a system file you are presented with first the delete confirmation box and then the UAC authorization pop-up boxes. By disabling the delete confirmation box you can get rid of one of the pop-up boxes that you are forced to click through each time.
Follow these steps to disable the Delete confirmation box:
Right click on your Recycle Bin on the desktop and select Properties.
On the bottom of the Recycle Bin Properties window, uncheck Display delete confirmation dialog.
Hit OK and you are finished.
Keep in mind that you will also no longer get a delete confirmation when you delete files that are not protected by UAC. That will allow you to delete a file without any confirmation at all. If you make a mistake and delete a file by accident, just restore it from the Recycle bin. After all, that is what it is for!
I have some folders with music from 2006 in my computer which I can not remove. Everytime I want to delete them I see "you need a permission to perform the action". From some threads I have read about Cmd.exe but I understand it till cd command, how can I navigate to the directory exactly music my folders. These folders dont disturb me much but they take a little but of the memory. Or if anyone had other suggestions beside cmd.exe ......

Every single time I log in to Windows, that bloody little pop-up comes in the notification area saying that my UAC is off and that this is a horrible problem.I know it's off. I turned it off. Why the hell would I be unaware of that?
So my question is, how do I stop that annoying notice coming up every single time I start Windows?
I would like the most direct answer as to how I can identify when my mailbox is approaching a "full" status. I was notified by a couple of senders today that they are receiving a failure notice for e-mails they have attempted to send. It seems to be only messages with attachments. I did a pretty thorough cleaning of my folders and thought I had made more room but senders are still getting the failure notice. I have reviewed some of the postings for exporting mail to an external hard drive and once again (due to my technical "handicap") need a direct set of instructions.

The Recycle Bin appears to be functioning correctly, in that the context menu option to 'Empty Recycle Bin' greys out, the icon changes, and even the $RECYCLE.BIN folder (and subfolder 'Recycle Bin') show empty (hidden and operating system files not hidden) with total size around 20K. However, when running a full Windows Defender scan (with an "empty" Recycle Bin), a large list of files are lsited as being scanned within the Recycle Bin, within a sub-folder (not otherwise shown) corresponding to the HKEY_USERS key 'S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxx' (actual key replaced by x's).
When used Explorer to go directly to folder 'C:$Recycle.BinS-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxx' I am taken to 'C:$Recycle.Bin ecycle Bin'. which is of course empty. If I manually delete the Recycle Bin a number of folders and files are listed for confirmation to be deleted, which also are not listed within Explorer (or on Recycle Bin properties). The Recycle Bin is automatically recreated, and the hidden files seem to disappear, but the problem again manifests itself over time. Why are these file not being deleted by emptying the Recycle Bin, why can I not see them, and how can I delete them routinely?
For some strange reason it seems Vista (Business) mail is emptying my Deleted Items folder after a day. I can't see where this setting might be... not in Options that I can find. Any idea how to stop the unwanted emptying of my Deleted Items folder?

Not the confirmation for deleting files, I mean EMPTYing the recycle bin. Those files are which were deleted once already, I don't want (or need) to click [OK] for everytime emptying the Recycle Bin.
Besides, the Recycle bin is at the left top corner of the screen but the confirmation dialog always pops up at the center of the screen. If I accidentally miss the confirmation box, all icons on the desktop becomes unclickable (looks like a modal window to the desktop).
Is there ANY way to disable the EMPTYing comfirmation? Again, not the confirmation for deleting files.
I am having trouble emptying my "Deleted Items" folder. When I select all the messages and try to permanently delete them I get a message saying an "uknown error has ocurred", and no messages are deleted. It's starting to frustrate me (a little).

The first concerned a Scanner, where Add/Remove would not remove all the software, so that installation of the new Scanner is not possible, until a procedure recommended by the Scanner's makers involving modifications to the Registry is carried out, which I could not possibly do myself, so it means hiring a Professional to do the job!

Each account had a different set of folders. In Windows Mail, it seems everything is being downloaded into one Inbox. Can I re-create the separate folders for each email account in WinMail?
Also, my gmail accounts folder structure was synchronized with the folder structure on the web using IMAP. Can I do that in WinMail, too? If so, how (or point me to directions)?

- SuperAntispyware
- Ad aware
- Windows defender
All the software is updated with the latest "definitions"
2 firewalls (1 windows firewall, 1.with the router)
Do I need more software like that to be safe?
I think this is too much software installed to just take care of virus and spyware threats. For it seems like virus is not soo big problem any more. Soo I am wondering isnt it possible to for Microsoft to make something "supersmart" to get rid of spy ware??

I plugged in my Toshiba USB hard drive when I first got my computer about a week ago, to transfer programs and files to the new computer.
Now, for the past several days I have tried to remove it and I keep getting the message, "cannot safely remove it because it is in use"!
It is NOT in use as far as I know. In fact today I started my computer and did not even access the drive at all yet I get the same error from "Safely Remove Hardware".
I have turned indexing off on the drive, on both partitions.
MS sent me a "Hotfix" via email but when I went to install it there were all kinds of warnings with it, basically telling me "use this at your own risk, we are not vouching for this being reliable!" So I was rather afraid to do it.
I don't want suspend, it does not even work. I do how ever want Hibernate. My Question is how do i remove suspend?

Each time I try to uninstall a program it tells me that the system administrator has set policies to prevent this. View 5 Replies View Relatedi can get to remove ddcDwwwW.dll wich in turn contacts some web server and downloads sevral other virus files. Tryied to remove it before internet was turn on but no luck. Got some files wich it downloads as soon as internet is there, but simply cant remove that host file. It slows down internet speed by 98% so online scanners cant reach it in time before it activated another entry for it.
And same with the virus program, since it is in the temp dir i tryied to only scan that dir but same result. When the scan was done after 5 sec for temp dir the file had made 112 new entrys linked to the file so it could not be removed. Every time u tries to simply delete it it makes some other crappy entry and resetts.. Virus program ref to utlrexue.dll and lvlpdtev.dll
