Empty Space Above Games Explorer?
Aug 9, 2008You can see the window is maximized, but for some reason theres this empty space.. I've tried rebooting btw.

Delete Empty Partition, Get Empty Space On Hard Drive?
Mar 19, 2009I have an Acer aspire 5715z series which as its hard drive partitioned into two 30gig partitions. I would like to know, if I was to delete one of the partitions which is empty would the remaining partition take up the empty space on the hard drive.

Oct 6, 2009My OS is Vista Home Premium(64 bit). I enjoy playing Solitaire and Chess Titans which are two of the integrated "Games". A problem has occurred. I click "Start" then "Games". The ">Games" window appears, as usual. Solitaire, Hearts, Chess Titans etc etc are shown, as usual. However, when I double click the relevant icon, instead of the game running as usual, I'm getting a new window with "Saved Games" at the top. In the main body of the window appears "Microsoft Games" folder which is empty!! I'm wondering if it's my injudicious use of a "shortcut fixer" tool in a "utility" I've been using recently that's caused this problem. how to get my nice green solitaire game (or chess etc) to show again when I double click the icon

Apr 13, 2008I am moving a lot of my games out of the Program Files folder into C:Games so that UAC doesn't ask permission to play most of my games anymore. The problem is that, after I move the game folder, even though the game plays perfectly, it disappears from the Game Explorer and I can't seem to get it added back. The specific game i'm trying with is Lord of the Rings Online. (I moved World of Warcraft and it fixed itself instantly). Everquest 1 also disappeared and no matter what I do I can't seem to get it back in the game explorer other than dragging in the exectuable. Is there a way to get the official Game Explorer icon back for Lord of the Rings Online with the full game rating and ESRB rating and all after moving the folder?

Feb 21, 2010im installing AvP 3 and i just cant do it.
apparently for some reason the dvd stops reading...
when i enter "my computer" and try to go into drive d(my dvd) it just crashes,
then i have to wait from a range of 5 mins to 1.5 hours for windows explorer to restart...
and the game installation crashes too...
that happens with other dvds and cds too.
i have changed various dvd drives from various companies and i have updated all of their drivers...the problem is consistent.
im tired of buying new dvd drives and throwing them away for nothing.
obviously its a vista issue cause on my old pc everything works just fine(i have xp on that one).
most of the games i just copy the dvds files on my portable harddrive using my old pc and then do the installations through that harddrive on my current pc...
but this game is a "steam" game and that wont work...
any ideas?
ps:its not a hardware issue,its definately a windows vista issue.

Nov 28, 2008I would like to get vista to use the login style used in Win 2000 ... ctrl+alt+del gives a login box in which to enter the user name and password.
Win XP Pro had this option also, but, it's default was like vista (pictures showing all users).
I have been able to get the ctrl+alt+del part but instead of the login box I still get pictures.

Nov 29, 2008I have a 320 GB HD. When I checked it, I only have 25 gigs of free space. However I can only find about 180 gigs of files/data. Any ideas as to how I lost 100 gigs of available of space? Just a couple of weeks ago I checked and I had plently of space. No recent installs, only recent changes are the removal of Mcaffee monitoring software and running JkDfrag.

Jun 14, 2008i reformatted my whole c drive and then clean installed vista ultimate onto it and at start i had 268Gb out of 274Gb. now its gone to 243Gb and i've only installed a couple of programs and when i highlight everything in the c drive it says its 7.38GB. I've Defragged it a lot of times and the space keeps on going down.

Oct 14, 2006I did a clean install. (RC1 - Build 5600) At first, everything was working great, then the next day I have nothing in Control Panel. From the Start Menu it says (empty) after attempting to load it for 20-ish seconds. If I click the desktop shortcut, it will load the window frame with no content, then just close after 5 seconds. In Windows Explorer I can expand the Control Panel from the sidebar, and pick from there, but just selecting Control Panel, again doesn't work. I remember this being corrupted .cpl files back in the 3.x days, same thing maybe? I ran System File Checker, didn't fix it (did find corrupted files though, oi vey).

May 15, 2010My Dell XPS M1530 Vista SP2 all of sudden had the icon for volume/sound disabled. When I did some investigating;
- The machine seems to be working fine but it appear to be very slow, backing up my machine took for ever, sometimes it see my external disk and other times it didn't
- I received a message stating that I need to check windows latest update and I tried to install an important SP2 but it failed
- Device Manager is showing no device, it's looks completely empty
- called Dell support, they were unable to figure it out, even though I have 3 year warranty they are saying they will have to charge me for s/w support, which was never a problem before.
- I tried to do restore but it states there is no restore points
- I tried to see if I could start the Plug & Play but it gives error
- I tried to install the Audio driver from the Dell Disk and that gives errors

I am cleaning up my music folder and found out that I have over a thousand empty folders in it due to old music I had deleted. I don't want to have to go through and delete each one manually. Mar 23, 2008I have a strange problem. My documents folder doesnt show the content, although a lot of content exists. When typing a subfolders name in the addressbar, I can see the contents of this subfolder. Also in the command shell the "dir" command doesnt show me any content of the documents-folder. But I can access subdirectories via "cd subdirectory". The content of the subdirectory can be listed via "dir".
When I select "properties" after right-clicking the documents folder vista shows me the size of the folder and the number of files found. I have already tried the chkdsk...Everything worked fine until today. Has anybody got an idea what could be the reason for this strange behaviour?

According to startup.exe, this dll is located in the syswow64 folder, but a search (including hiddens) comes up empty. Aug 5, 2009I just discovered that my Username and Inspiron Folders are empty, with a blank folder picture as icon. When I click on either one of them I get the "Open with" scenario. Yet by right-clicking I am able to access "Properties". According to it the folders were modified on July 5 and 6 respectively and not by me, of course. Is there a way to correct this and, if so, how? Have no idea what could have caused it and can live with it, if necessary. Nothing else is effected.
